    You may already be aware but there’s a tool called a cherry pitter that would make that is so much easier than using a knife, and probably less messy 🙈😅 either way I am envious of all your cherries!!

    I love your channel and am grateful for all that you have taught us over the years! Perhaps you have a reason for not using one, but a simple and inexpensive hand held cherry pitter is a life saver! ☺️

      Thank you for the kind words! Yes, the pitter is very helpful. Unfortunately ours wore out and we haven’t picked up a new one yet. I kind of like the way it brought us together though to accomplish the task. I will probably be getting a new one soon, however.

    I thought I was really going to impress my bees with lots of scabiosa (pin cushion) this year, but they bypass it every time and go straight to the catmint. So I have lots of catmint starts that I rotate in as the others fade out a bit, because they LOVE fresh catmint blooms. 🐝 I do lots of Russian Sage, too, but even that seems to fall short if there is catmint nearby. Whatever makes them happy is all good with me!😊

    Mulberries - don't try to pick by hand. Put a sheet (or tarp) under the tree. Then shake the branches. The ripe fruit will fall onto the sheet. Or you can have the kids hold the corners of the sheet. Have someone climb the tree and shake the branches. Watch the ripe berries fall.

    • @theelliotthomestead

    I live in SW Idaho and I have a Montmorency pie cherry tree. I wish you could come pick some of mine, I have to pick and pit them all myself and it’s a lot of work! I pit them with a paper clip, so as not to smash the fragile fruit.

    What a beautiful video. Thank you for taking time to show us your bountiful garden blessings. Do you dry feverfew for tea? The honey syrup for you canned goods is in place of sugar I presume?

    • @theelliotthomestead
      @theelliotthomestead  23 дня назад +1

      Yes, we typically use honey in place of sugar. We are drying the feverfew and learning about the best way to use it. I believe it can be used in tea which we may do. I haven’t gotten that far yet 😅

    Hi Shaye, thanks so much for sharing your time, space, and knoweldge. What were the little white flowers? I thought it might be chamomile but the clustering of flowers and leaves look different than the variety I grow.

    • @jodieh4739
