Gordon Lightfoot is over 80 years old and still touring around Canada and the U.S. I'm not yet 70 and would have a hard time keeping up with him! We should all be so lucky. As a singer/songwriter, there is no one that comes close to contributing to the music world than he has. Gord, you are my favorite and #1. Thanks for the music and allowing us to peek into the windows of your mind.

I agree with you wholeheartedly, Alicia. He's been my favorite since I was a young teenager; however, it is time for this phenomenal genius to end his touring career. There is absolutely nothing that he needs to prove to anyone other than he is, and was, Gordon Lightfoot.

Who can judge another without first looking hard at themselves. He does what he loves. What is wrong with that. I see a man whose strength and will is incredible. I am inspired to fight for the life I gave up on. Even 10% is a whole lot more than none. Thanks Gordon.

11/02/2022 Very encouraged to see Mr. Lightfoot still kicking.
Last time i attended his concert was after he recovered from his nearly fatal health challenge.
And young people stand on street corners a beg for handouts.
Mr. Lightfoot is a Truly Magnificent example of Winston Churchills never quit line. Admiration and Respect.

He's gone now. A great since the 1960's. This is proof that time takes it's toll on all of us. Nothing lasts forever, everything comes to an end. The only 2 sure things in life for all is death and taxes. It was a great run. RIP.

Seven months later and he is now gone. Fortunately I was able to see Gordon probably 8-10 times since 1970 and he never failed to entertain. But you have to wonder why he was still touring at this age. I can’t believe he would need the money but who knows. He looks frail and no doubt riddled with cancer. May he rest in peace now. Thank you Gordon for all the years of entertainment, memories, and absolutely incredible music.

  • @binsurf

The bassist and keyboardist both look like they would rather be anywhere but on stage. The bassist standing there by the speaker while Gord talks seemingly disconnected and the keyboardist always seems to have his head hanging down. I love Gord, but I wonder if he's running out of time on the touring stage. I don't think I'll go to any concerts as it would break my heart. Does to see this. I've always wanted to meet him. But, if I did now, I'd just break down.

...except, of course, Rick Haynes is singing along at 3:14. Guess he forgot to be "disconnected". That's his style, man (to paraphrase Neil Young).

That's me, screaming at the beginning and at the end of the song. Yes, it was a little sad, but it was also quite magnificent as this man continued to give his all. the band was never disengaged. I was in the 3rd row. This crew stood behind their captain all night and were very happy to be able to continue to play with the master. If the guy still wants to tour and his band still wants to tour-- who are we to judge? Yes, it was sad, but it was beautiful. The man is a songwriting legend. Didn't miss a line in Fitzgerald and had no teleprompters.

Humility -- when you do not think as highly of yourself as someone else does
Humiliation -- when someone else doesn't think as highly of you as you do
If Gordon Lightfoot suffers humiliation, I dare say it's not at his own hands.

He's gasping for breathe, can barely hold a tune, scratching at the guitar and likely to fall at any moment. Why is he still on stage? He's certainly not performing as a musician; let alone singing.
