Salmon thieves attacked a farm in New Zealand, not far from where I live in the south island, a few years ago, and made off with something like $2 million worth of salmon. Fish business is no joke!!!
Well, Caviar is actually pretty good. It's not earth shattering though. The reason it is so expensive has NOTHING to do with elitism or snobbery- it's because it is an ancient fish that takes forever to mature. They can live Decades and Decades. If you like fish eggs= I would suggest you try cheaper types as the sell tons of different ones. The species has been overharvested and on the decline for ever. Maybe it's the best egg's? That's up to the consumer but when you look at the price difference, even if you're loaded- it's not really worth it.
I've had it, but while it was "interesting," I wouldn't pay that much for it.
Because often mostly silly people pay expensive prices for things which keeps the price high
Like most expensive things, it's expensive because of marketing & people are willing to pay for it.
Why not let the eggs turn into full grown fish and eat the fish?
