  • Dr. Nolan Zane, psychologist and director of the Asian American Center on Disparities Research, describes a paradigm for Asian American mental health research. Dr. Zane uses key examples of face loss/shame and cultural differences in emotion regulation to describe the Center's approach to research. He describes the Center's focus on specific cultural and therapist factors that directly impact treatment outcomes or psychotherapeutic processes and can be influenced with tailored interventions. Dr. Zane speaks about the Model Minority Myth and how it creates a challenge for funding Asian American mental health research.
