  • Here is my guide on how to fit a set of heavy duty drawer slides into the back of a Renault Trafic, but the same can be applied to any van. These are to be the basis of an outdoor kitchen but there are many other uses for them including storage draws, bike trays, outdoor decks etc. These particular ones are 5ft long and rated to 227kg.
I also make a drawer to fit onto them but If you follow the guide for that then learn from my mistakes or maybe look to see if there is a video for it on RUclips first haha.

I got my drawer slides from eurofit direct at a price of £240 but here are similar ones (they’re probably all the same) from Amazon at a much cheaper price.

Great build. I totaly agrree on what you did on the sliders. but remember your fridge need ventilation and some hole. But the joint connector bolt. The big one can be inside the drawer so you use only 6mm/8mm screw on the slider.

Thank you. Yeah the shape of the drawer is just the start, it’s gonna get chopped up a bit so ventilation will be considered. Also need to make sure there’s enough airflow to the rear pillar vents too. Haha yeah that’s already been pointed out to me. I did it like that because I didn’t have the correct bolts. But yeah it would be much easier the other way around.

Sorry Jaz you should have fitted the M6 flat head set screws through the sliders and drilled the wood to suit the tapped bush, the way you've done it is just harder with no advantage

Very valid point lol. I will probably do it that way on the next drawer I do. There’s 2 reasons I did it this way, I didn’t have the correct bolts so some of the bolts I had would’ve fouled on the sliders as they slid in. 2nd reason was me thinking my drilling would be more precise on 3mm steel sitting on a trestle rather than trying to get a perfect hole through 18mm of ply inside the van. I agree more work but less chance of me cocking it up haha.

my comment will probably be late but hey ho.... the wrong pocket holes you done just dowel them up, when wood glue is dry level them and go again in same place, or next to for neater and stronger.

Not late at all bud because I have to make 3 more drawers. But I’m not quite sure what you mean?

@@EndlessRoadJaz Put some round wooden dowels in the holes you made to big, glue them in so it fills the holes, then when dry cut them level with the surface and holes are filled in and solid again. some say plug them fill them etc. hope that helps

Ah I get you. I was gonna use some body filler but your solution sounds better so thanks for that!
