Great video Julian. Much have learnt through real life experiences, the willingness to interact with locals and to communicate in Vietnamese is a must for learners who wants to progress faster!💪🏼👌Having keenness, being tactile ,respectful, especially to elders is of important in Vietnamese culture. Great observations ❤understanding cultural differences in a short space of time . Your videos are very studious, fun to watch , honesty and most importantly being real 👌😍very educational , for those visiting Vietnam 🇻🇳 for the first time.keep learning! 👌😎
Hello Duc Van Dang Thank you for watching this video and also taking time out of your day to write these kind words and also adding value about Vietnamese culture. It is a continuous life journey of learning new things! Chuc suc khoe
Hey richie, thanks for watching! This is something i may explore at some point although im new to youtube and still learning things! What sort of things about the Vietnamese community are you interested in seeing?
@@TheBritViet , maybe show Vietnamese stores restaurants and businesses. Interview people and ask them their stories. That's just me -- other people may have different viewing interests.
Nice vid! I also live in the UK (SW Wales) and am most likely moving to HCM soon to teach English. I was wondering what you considered to be the biggest cons, as I hear many pros about there but not many cons so just want to set my expectations right! So far the main ones (for HCM anyway) seems to be traffic, polution and maybe visas (hopefully this wont be an issue as I will get a work permit)
Hi Ieuan Thanks for watching, 1st person from Wales to comment on any of my vids! Coming from your perspective (assuming youve never been to vietnam, and being British) i think what you said could be seen as a con. Living in vietnam is different to just visiting for a holiday etc. Although i love being in traffic as ‘part of the flow’ at times when i lived in Hanoi, traffic at peak morning times etc- taking an hour to maybe go 2/3 miles or so was a hindrance. Face mask is crucial when driving to avoid all the dirt and fumes etc. Why not walk that distance you may ask? Well this is out of the question due to the blistering heat or heavy rain etc- which is why Vietnamese people try and stay out of the sun when possible. In the UK we don’t get a lot of sunshine lol as you know so soaking up the sun for a sun tan whilst on holiday in Vietnam is fun, but long term living, you want to avoid the strong beams! Give me sone time to think about your question more thoroughly and maybe ill make a video about things i dislike as i want to be honest on this channel too and that will answer your question in more detail etc! I hope that somewhat answers your question
@@TheBritViet Hey thanks for the reply, very detailed :D I actually did live in Vietnam back in 2020 for around 6 months, but it was more of like an extended holiday as I was not working during that time, and I was also with a vietnamese friend the whole time, and never really did anything just on my own. I didn't find the traffic bad really, and also never noticed the polution problems people mention. The heat was quite intense but I got used to it fairly quickly and it wasn't too much of a problem (except sometimes arriving somewhere sweating prefusely lol) I guess I'm just worried about arranging and moving there just to be disappointed and want to move back (which is why I am trying to think of all the negatives there may be), but it seems like the chances of that are very low, and also most people I've seen have said they don't regret moving to live there, and also have met very few people that have had a bad experience.
Oh great, so you have experienced some aspects of Vietnam before! If you plan on teaching english with a set routine etc youll def encounter the busy traffic (if in major cities like hanoi/hcmc etc. Trust me when i say looking at google maps for how long itll take usually isn’t accurate, particularly during rush hours. If youre not driving yourself then sometimes trying to get a taxi or taxi motorbike like grab etc can take so long when its rainy season. Maybe you dont feel it as you were on holiday mode as such but air quality really isnt good long term in major cities. 95% of locals wear face masks when driving in Hanoi. There are pros and cons in all countries and in the UK as you know we have alot of issues atm but its all about your personal mindset and how you approach things! Without going too deep lol . Anyways, good luck if you do decide to go!
@@TheBritViet Thanks man! I can understand that the traffic when actually on a time schedule and planning my day will be more of an issue in this case lol. But you're right, I have a very positive mindset so I think if I move there with this positive attitude, things will go well! I look forward to seeing more of your videos!
