Yesterday, I was just thinking about oil paints. Specifically Cranium White, and this morning there was an ad for it. I know Google didn't read my mind but it was a very strange/creepy experience. BTW, hell yeah they listen. When they say they "don't listen", they say that using an alternative definition of the word listen.
One time I was riding with my friend to drop off another friend n was using her GPS on her phone which was connected to her Bluetooth to her car, generally when using Google maps, it will tell u web to turn etc but that's it, well it said to turn into a parking lot but called it wat ppl in the UK call it, a car park, my friend started talking crap about/to Google maps, n it replied n talked trash back, again wasn't using Alexa or anything just Google maps for directions, never has it ever responded like this
It’s taught at school. They don’t listen, don’t need to and can’t from the infrastructure needed to do so. Instead this is the tech: Your interests, location, interactions, clicks, are tracked and crossreferenced with the news, the weather, whatever you can think of. Most importantly it’s cross referenced with the other people’s same data point that you meet all day long. All that recreates profiles of you and your contacts. They can acurately guess what you and your contac(s) talk about, where you will go next, what you will do next. It’s data models. It’s taught at school and does not use microphones.
I don't have many conversations with many people. But, when I do a web search for something, sometimes next day, when I'm not searching anymore, I get videos or suggestions or ads for the same subject or something related to that subject. And I ALWAYS use a VPN. And I wouldn't be too sure about showing written words to a camera that's connected to the 'net, either. I'm sure there are algorithms that can read handwriting as well. And we know that there are surveillance cams in many locations. Great stuff for monitoring traffic, emergencies, and catching bad guys; but they do lend themselves just as easily to tracking events and movements for other purposes. And we all have heard of people being located surreptitiously by someone tapping into the gps signal of their phone. And it's been alleged that agencies like the FBI, CIA, NSA, and Secret Service monitor chats and email and such for keywords that draw attention. If that's true, then somebody may double-check this comment, based on all the alphabet soup I just used. It may not be Orwell's 1984, but people ARE watching. And just 'cause you're paranoid doesn't mean they're NOT out to get you.🙁😁🤞 Faraday cage, anyone?
well, maybe they don't, cause the algorithm is too good, it takes into account not only your decisions, but your friends, relatives, and closest people surrounding you, plus, it takes the time you look at the screen and what you see, the position (even when you have GPS turned off), the apps you have, etc. that's why they don't have the necessity to listen your conversations. I'm not saying that they don't do it, just that they don't need to.
I was talking to my mom about getting a Toyota Corolla and making it look all stupid with modifications and then my instagram explore was full of Corolla. (Facebook now owns instagram)

I'm not interested in football for example, but I've tried talking about it, and I had ads about footballs. When I talk about pizzas also, I get ads for food shipping apps (Although, this one may be because it's likely midday or 8PM)
