Lindie, you are such a cool girl, a big inspiration for me when it comes to learning. I started learning Spanish and German thanks to you. I mean, I have always wanted to, but actually started because your videos encouraged me. Thank you!
Me, native Hungarian seeing your goal and think. "I can't do that". I have no vocab in tech, AI or design in Hungarian 😅 Although, those are not topics I'm interested in, now I feel like I need to improve so that if someone asks I can at least give a simple answer. 😄 I'm hoping to learn all the vocab/grammar in Japanese for N4 level and be on the way to N3. But I'm excited for the new year.
Oh well for the record I can't order a coffee in Hungarian but I can talk about AI 😂 its really about where we put our efforts and interests haha! Good luck with your Japanese learning 💙
Korean and Spanish are the languages that I am currently prioritizing. I plan to do two 30 min conversations with my italki teacher each week and I am in an online Korean school through the Andrew Kim Church in Georgia. For my self study, I want to increase my language input and practice more vocabulary.
Love the glasses. PS. Been following you since 2019, maybe even 2018. 👍🏾 I listen and speak in real time at A1 level in Russian. And I can read books and listen with subs in A2. My goal next year is to be able to read at B1 level, which means my IRL convo level will be a solid A2 😊.
Can't wait for the vocab video, I feel like i've really plateaued with my korean nowadays because I simply don't know enough words but because i'm at that intermediate stage I know all the basics so I don't know where to start from now
@dripdrip08 Hello! Reading your comment, I can relate very much. I also learn Korean and am at an intermediate level. I too struggled with vocab when reaching this level. Here is what I did. I don't use a textbook anymore like I did as a beginner to guide me. Instead I spend 80% (90%) of my time listening and reading native content. I learn my vocabulary and also grammar only from those. I try to be careful with the vocabulary I pick up though. Since my personal goal is talking in a casual setting (with friends or friend's family etc), I try to choose my content accordingly. In my case: 존댓말 or 반발 with focus on conversations/oral. I avoid written form or something too formal, like professionnal settings or essays/literature. I also try to choose young adult female speakers to match with the way I want to speak. Also I choose contents about topics I am personally interested into and want to talk about. That way I naturally learn vocabulary that can be useful for me. I also read content that might be a bit more different from the above like fantasy/fiction books in Korean. This is still very useful to improve my reading skills but in that case I am a bit more careful when picking up vocab, especially when it comes to descriptions. I try to make sure I don't learn too formal or rare words. Also: When I pick up a new word, I also always double check if its a common word or not. To do so I use Naver dictionary (I look under examples at the Weverse examples and see how much of it there is) as well as the website filmot.com to see how often the word pops out and in which context on RUclips. Hope this might help you in some way! Good luck in your language learning journey 🥰
Wowww, gracias 🥰 Como siempre tu contenido es esencial para aquellos que queremos aprender idiomas. Espero que alcances todos tus objetivos. Espero que avances en tu español. Si puedo serte útil, no dudes en decírmelo 😊. Feliz Navidad 🎉🎄
Hi Lindie!😊 I'm looking forward to watching the Hungarian-speaking videos so much. You are a role model for me, the enthusiasm, the knowledge, your Hungarian😀.. Elképesztő, nagyon ügyes vagy, csak így tovább. Greetings from Hungary❤
Wow you’re setting a new trend for goal setting, that’s for sure! I’m so glad it’s not too late for goal setting yet & that I haven’t done it yet, I will definitely try your puzzle method with at least one language! And hopefully I’ll be more realistic with myself but also manage to motivate myself to study actively 💪 I’m so glad to see your new videos ~ your glasses are lovely 💖 All the best to you for the new year, Lindie! 🎉
You have so many great ideas! I like the puzzle strategy. I’m actually excited about languages in 2025. 2024 was my not motivated for languages year. But excited for the New Year! 🙏🏼
Szia Lindie! 😊 Happy ALMOST New Year ;) As always we`ve learnt a lot of new things from this video too. I`m always amazed and appreciate the content you create. Lo❤e for the GLASSES and 2025 LANGUAGE GOALS!
STRUGGLING big times with my *Turkish* language goals. In 2o24 spend a lot of time, nrg + para on diving in to the culture, teachers on preply, duolingo but are not able to have conversation. Speaking frightens me, making sentences is horrible, alle the tences get mixed up. I have to press the reset buttont. As we speak I am in Turkey ...understand at least 50% of what I hear when it comes down to context. I will dive in to the puzzle...
A great video with an actionable plan. Thank you! Is there anywhere a language learner can find more specific requirements for each level of the CEFR (e.g. grammar concepts or vocabulary themes)? I find it difficult to set more smaller/more specific goals with the broad outlines I have found. I have an A2 (ish) level of French. Thanks again, Lindie!
I’ve found the best methods are any that I can stick to consistently for at least half an hour a day. Many RUclipsrs and language learners seem to be a bit too focused on min-maxing (learning as much as possible as fast as possible). It makes sense, but I think it forces people to do things they’d rather not- which leads to burnout and giving up. My goal for Finnish in 2025 is to continue using clozemaster at 30-40 new words a day, and around 100-130 reviews a day. This is about 150-175 flash cards a day and takes about 20 to 25 minutes. Luckily there’s enough sentences to keep me busy for another 2 years at the rate I’m going! My second goal is to read 500,000 words this year. I’ve done some rough math and depending on what I decide to read it’ll add up to around 20 books over the course of the year. Give or take a few. I live in Finland, and so I get plenty of listening and speaking practice throughout the week. By the end of the year, I hope to take the YKI (official Finnish language test) and to earn high marks in B2. Not just “oh you got 60% so it technically counts!” But an actual 80-90% at least on the spoken, listening, and reading sections.
Wow! How do you track 500,000 words? Would it just be a guestimate around the 20 books you read? 20 is doable in a year. I read 36 books this year (but many were for my thesis) so 20 is for sure doable - I just read a bit slower in other langs. Good luck with your Finnish and the exam!!
Thank you for the well wishes, and same to you in 2025! I can’t imagine how much brain power it takes to be doing school, work, and keeping up with multiple languages a day! Finnish and my bachelors degree keep me busy enough as it is 😂 Yeah, it’s a guesstimate. If I’m reading children’s books (ex. Goosebumps) those are only around 20,000 words a piece. If I’m reading higher level stuff, those can be 50,000 or more. For each book I read I’m just gonna do a rough estimate of counting the words on a few pages and then multiplying that by the number of pages. If I read for half an hour or so a day I should easily be able to get to 500k! Which added up with the flash cards is around an hour of “intensive” practice a day, whereas I tend to get at least a few hours of passive speaking practice and listening exposure per day.
Thanks so much for sharing this Lindie. I’m so nervous to sit an exam next year (not sure if I’ll do B2 or C1) amidst my health struggles. Your method is very reassuring. Also- I’m really curious what shade lipstick you’re wearing in the video 😅
Thank you, you'll do well in that exam! I'm sure you'll choose the right level for you. I think it’s a crayon type lipstick from Dasique, I’ll have to get back to you on that 😀
I am currently learning Thai and Burmese. I can already read Burmese, but I can't read Thai. My goal recently has been to learn 5 characters per week. And learn 5 new burmese words a week! I also keep a diary. Where i write about my day and feeling etc. Only in that language!
I wouldn’t say getting into it because I think I’ll fall too deep with all the inks and pens 😂 but I’m very very happy with my Lamy safari and blue ink always 🤓🌷
@ hahah yes, definitely beware of the rabbit-hole.😅 I’ve spent more on pens and inks than I’m proud of, but the sheer VERSATILITY of being able to mix and match is sooooo fun if you love studying, note-taking, and journaling! P.S. If you ever want to try new colors without spending bunch for money, you can get a Manuscript fountain pen that uses universal cartridges and buy one of those cheap color cartridge packs that allows you to experiment without too much commitment. So fun!
Best of luck to everyone on their 2025 language goals! 😊 You can get great language audio input here on youtube with bilingual stories, they will read a sentence of a story in English then read the same sentence in target language. Polyglot Beats on youtube does that well for multiple languages and there other channels for specific languages... its been helping me get passive listening and learning when going on walks... time is by FAR hardest obstacle in language learning - anything that can get us some passive learning is a plus😊🎉🎉🎉 happy new year, 2025 here we come!!! 😊
What a lot of useful advice, I’m going to make a plan to start 2025 with goals to achieve. I dıd occasionally get distracted by the large slice of bread stuck to the wall behind you 😂 (what is it really?)
Same!!! I really hope to improve my rusty English in the next year too (my speaking skills have downgraded seriously) and to learn French to the same levels you mentioned haha Good luck!
I love these glasses with the earrings!! Really cute :)

When I feel like not studying at all, any of your videos makes me go back to study languages again. Thank you Lindie, you inspire us to keep on going.

Happy New Year 2025!!! Great advice for setting language learning goals and looking forward to your new videos 🎉 Kind regards Lindie Lindie
Having milestones is great advice! Knowing how to simplify things from such a big goal makes learning anything waaaay less overwhelming :)
Absolutely!!
wow i'm first (14 sec) ! Early happy new year to you!
Welcome!! :B

I love the replacement part, I did it with Anki and Wanikani, now instead of doomscrolling I make sure to go first through all my vocabulary :)
Love it!!

Hi, Lindie, I have a personal goal for this next 2025, learn my second asian language: Vietnamese/ Tiên Viêt 🇻🇳, and I love your glasses 😍😍.
