@@therealmarlonbellamy I forgot he was from Canada ! His underground mixtape verses was killin it. Last seen on ‘Dangerous’ w/ Akon. He’s probably behind some music we heard today. Maybe…
Sometimes I think …. Was 2010 really golden era of rap or was it simply nice to see new artist & nothing was over saturated with much of the same. You only heard them thru buying albums or radio. Seeing them on your fav hype tv show if you caught it. Now with so much easy access to artist. Streaming music in an instant or social media like a lot has lost its luster.
IMO it definitely was if you think about the influence these artists have had to this day. Odd future, beast coast, asap mob and tde…. This whole era of rap wouldn’t be without these artists the breakdown of regional music also, asap mob where the first NY group to take inspiration for many different pots, mixing high fashion with street, southern sounds and styles, Odd future brought the teenage rebellion back, music to offend your parents. Beast coast was a Morden day conscious rap with young spirit, and TDE was the revival of the west coast and following in the footsteps of being goats. Pop cultures biggest change was in the 2010s everyone I knew was trying to dress like of or asap mob
You don’t need to be “Mainstream” to be a successful rapper, just have a cult following. Prime Example Curren$y!! Spitta been my favorite rapper since 2008 & has been CONSISTENT FOR OVER A DECADE!🤙🏾🛩️🛩️
Umm.. what?! You must live under a rock because in 2023, Danny Brown dropped two classic albums. First his solo album: "Quaranta" and next his collaborative album "Scaring The Hoes" with JPEGMafia. Both albums are 🔥🔥 Just because he's not "Pop" doesn't mean he's not a relevant and successful rap artist.
i dont think alot of the artists being covered had too much stunted growth. Danny Brown was part of the best alternative rap album of 2023 for example. I love these videos btw
I must tell truth There no such thing as too old??? RAP IS A OLD MANs GAME. the young die out or crash out dysfunctional at times music copy not really Artists but if make money let it fall in to hip hop rap game been off track for sometime
Well, to be honest, how many people in their 30s-40s are going to listen and support new artists vs them listening and supporting the ones who became famous when those 30s-40s were 20s-30s.
Rap is not a old man game..rap was started by guys in there 30s and 40s.. record labels love you people because they are not going to question the machine..full of unethical practice..
Atrocity Exhibition is definitely a classic. I wasn’t really into Danny Brown like that but that album made me a listener and appreciate him & his artistry.
I listened to that album like 10 times back on the day and still only liked a few songs. Never got it myself and I actually liked a lot of his music up to that point
He was never and will never be supposed to be for the mainstream His music is just not fit for it. That's all there is too it. Not everybody has to be a megastar He's super talented but his music is too alternative and it's ok
I personally say : 2007-2016 was the final golden era of rap. Damn near all the stars from that era survived it. Still successful. Still thriving. Mostly clean. And got classic catalogues.
I feel like Danny Brown is overlooked, i believe he’s well respected within the hip hop community. He isn’t mainstream, and mainstream rap sucks. I think Danny is where he wants to be as artist.
My first time hearing him was in Dallas at a childish gambino show . I been listening to him since . I thought hw was going to get the shine he needed but he did in another way with the show .
He’s still doing pretty good on the indie scene. DB doesn’t deserve a spot on stunted growth. Also wasn’t everyone in Griselda 30+ when they were recognized? Roc Marciano floats in the underground too after being part of flip mode, and found his niche without mainstream success. Your metrics for success are dated. This break down is horrible
Danny Brown is dope. I think that he should have just stayed doing what he did and keep touching the people because they keep you relevant. Once you start chasing the big lights you start putting unnecessary pressure on yourself.
I'm 31 (d.o.b. 02.09.1993) I've been doing music for 21 years since I was 10 I feel I was just born to do it TMH just gave me that talent sure 16 to 22 year olds would call me old now but I feel better than ever I'm not even middle aged yet middle aged is what now 45. Please miss me with that old talk
It depends on the content like I said I'm 31 I've been doing music since age 10 so you do the math that's over two decades since 2003 but I know I can't make drill music and try to keep up with these teenagers and 20 year olds ppl would laugh @ me so I try to drop gems and knowledge on the youth I always was a positive artist tho.
One of the more talented and unique rappers of his era, with some solid body of work that may have been overlooked.
You should do Father from Awful Records..they had a nice team similar to Raider Klan
You not lying
@BIGBABYHAIR yes!!!
Naw I would never say he started too old because not a lot of artists who started young lasted the older rappers have longevity
If Danny Brown's Career was in the early 2000's he definitely would've been in the underground scene on Def Jux
I could imagine that
You should do Kardinal Offishall next.
Good one. My mans was hot then just disappeared

This is the first time I’m hearing the 2010s as a golden era
2010’s brought in different styles but golden era I think not 🧐

Grown up was my first introduction to Danny Brown and I loved his XXX album, ran it into the ground when it came out.

I think he is doing good he has good bodies of work.
Don't forget to stream Scaring the Hoes vol. 1 by Danny Brown and JPEGMAFIA
He in the same Category as Big Krit. They lacked star power and commercial appeal. Talented artists tho
Krit way over Danny Brown

I'll have to check it out then cuz I never cared for him
I listened to that album like 10 times back on the day and still only liked a few songs. Never got it myself and I actually liked a lot of his music up to that point
His teeth give me odb vibes seems like a real rappers rapper
This year I listened to Danny brown more than anybody else. For the first time I used to think he was way. But that podcast guide me now at eleven
scaring the hoes tape really put him on the radar again
Danny Brown's feature on A$AP Rocky's 1 Train is 1 of the top 2 best rap features of the 2010s!
I still listen to 1 Train to thus day. Everybody's verse on that was tight
The molly got me nauseous…….🔥🔥🔥🔥
🐧
lol when I saw Meek mill singing like baby and durk I knew it was over 😂
This is a good topic. Idk if it’s age because 2 chainz is older than him and was blowing up at that time
Do Scientifik and Angelous (the Jay-Z sound-a-like)
I don’t think Danny was trying to be a megastar I think he is fine with his position everyone doesn’t have to be drake level of fame
He was never and will never be supposed to be for the mainstream
His music is just not fit for it. That's all there is too it. Not everybody has to be a megastar
He's super talented but his music is too alternative and it's ok
atrocity exhibition still my fav album of the last 10-15 years
I don't think his growth is stunted. I think he's walked his own path and is leaving a trail.
My GOAT
I maintain that the music scene changed too quickly for him to keep momentum
Danny Brown came out in the wrong ERA, and that is all it boils down, too simple as that.
I personally say : 2007-2016 was the final golden era of rap. Damn near all the stars from that era survived it. Still successful. Still thriving. Mostly clean. And got classic catalogues.
Do Trick Trick next. Another Detroit legend
One of the dopest. His albums great and I think my favorite might be Uknowhatimsaying. He got one of the hardest tapes with tony yayo too Hawaiin Snow
That 30 album was fire 🔥
Nope not age it cause of Marketing and Lack of promotion
Danny alright with me.
I feel like Danny Brown is overlooked, i believe he’s well respected within the hip hop community. He isn’t mainstream, and mainstream rap sucks. I think Danny is where he wants to be as artist.
@stuntedgrowth what happened to the rapper Huey who had the song "pop lock & drop it"
He died
Honestly he could’ve been bigger if he had a better sound and did a few big features
Naa it wasn't age he just corny
Made 30bands in 30mins 🎵that track straight 🔥
My first time hearing him was in Dallas at a childish gambino show . I been listening to him since . I thought hw was going to get the shine he needed but he did in another way with the show .
6:31 you're being wayyyyy to generous with the word greatness when describing that Era
He’s still doing pretty good on the indie scene. DB doesn’t deserve a spot on stunted growth.

Love your content as always, can you kindly do a StuntedGrowthMusic on Jus Allah from JMT , or Virtuoso from Army Of The Pharoahs.
Jus Allah would be a good one
Nicklaus F next please !!!
XXX was one of of not the greatest rap album ever
It wasn’t age alone. Kayne had his breakout at 34 and so many others.
Danny is a Detroit goat and crazy under appreciated 👏 💐 🥳
He never dropped anything better than XXX if u ask me he was def dope tho
Danny Brown the goat
I always hated his voice i just couldn't get into the music 🎶🎶🎶
He has plenty of dope tracks with his normal voice too
The entire hyrbid project is full of "normal voice" Danny, select tracks off XXX too. If you're looking for them, they out there across a few projects
You should do one on Monica. I think she is an underappreciated talent as well. Happy New Year John
Danny brown supposed to be a modern version of Devin the dude?
No. Not even close
No way. Terrible comparison. Devin is a legend.
@@DERRTYCHYBO that’s the point of the stunted growth video
Aye can you do ABC❤?
I wasn't expected the Ninja name drop from Die Antwoord lol
“ Thou shall not flex a style that’s not YOURS “ -pace won
What about AZ
He covered already
Nice video
Where's shade shiest?
He is where he wants to be
Just not for me
You should do one on Chamillionaire 💯🫡
