I think when she is saying "I miss the future so bad, I wish I could go back" she is saying she is missing the potential of something, so she wishes she could go back to the beginning of something. I think it's pretty relatable, especially if we look back to like 2019 and we think about how all of the future had so much potential but ... now we are where we are.
But that's the beauty of music, lots of interpretations!

yessss this is what I thought too! she missed the future that was "meant to happen" before covid was a thing. we all had plans, goals, dreams, and the pandemic played a major part in destroying a lot of that for a lot of people. Chungha said in one of her behind videos that this song was written about how her, her team and a lot of people were feeling (and struggling) during the pandemic.

I believe the Russian nesting doll symbolizes masking emotions. As a layer is taken off, a more 'true' emotion is revealed. Also, the different settings could resemble the stages of loss: denial (the happy beginning), anger (the throwing tantrum), bargain (or replacement and distractions with her friends having except for her in a certain scene), grief (the narrow hallway and bathroom), and acceptance (the actual state which is a messy, destroyed room).

Idk much abt that doll this but what I thought is everytime she opened that doll it took her 1 year in past but in a destroyed way? like that doll took her to past but her life was ruined in a way, I think thats why she misses the future which is now past like thinking she shouldn't have opened that doll on the first place

I think I miss the future so bad means she missed what might have been, or the future she was so sure of in the past. Like a birthday or Christmas they promised to share together, but not now because everything has changed.
