You have a creative, unique and an effective way of teaching...glad that I found your channel. Thanks again!!
Great mark, happy to have you on board.
I love the trial and error teaching style. This is exactly how these shoots go. Thank you!
Thanks a lot! Yes this is how real photo shoots go. 😁
Inspirational, - I’m ‘old school’ and seen most things photographic, -so grateful this was uploaded, thank you!!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks!
Fantastic. More practical and useful information explained very well on how lighting works in this short video than almost any other I've seen. Well done. Thank you!
Insight Video Thanks. Comments like this means a lot. Makes my want to make more videos. Thanks again.
I am binge watching your videos! Where have you been for my formative photography years??? You rock.

So happy I found this channel. Thank you!
You are so welcome!
Thank you for explaining your light set up in an easy and concise way. It is hard finding practical videos that actually teach in relatable terms with basic lighting equipment.
Big thanks for your support!
You’re videos are very informative. I love the way you make common mistakes then inform your way out of them. Really gave me the inspiration to start today. Thank you
Happy to hear that. This was one of the first videos I did and I feel that I'm gliding away from this concept a bit.
This was my initial idea, to do common misstakes, and then show how to fix them.
Thanks for reminding me and thanks for watching!
I am so thankful I found your channel.
And I'm very happy that you like the stuff!
I've never photographed a wine bottle, and probably never will, but still, this video had me completely enraptured as it developed. You offer a wonderful combination of precise technical detail, and also the feeling of, "Hey, let's just hang out and go window shopping at the mall."
Wow, this must be the best comment so far! Thanks a lot Jason. 😁
You really give me insights in light shaping. Thanks so much!
Tack Sebastian, happy to hear that!
Cheers Mate! Great stuff...very interesting! It's really made me think about my lighting set up.

Great video thank you
Thanks for watching!
you are amazing and you are different
Thanks!
谢谢你的教程 :) thank you for your tutorial
You are very welcome!
Discovered your channel by chance and i am really happy for it!! I really like the way you deconstruct and make things simple. For a newbie like me, it makes it so much easier to grasp concepts especially with lighting. It's great that you offer interested people to visit your studio and work and learn with you, fantastic initiative. Wish I could take you up on that offer but unfortunately i live far far away :) But great stuff. Now it is time for me to experiment with what i just learnt here! Cheers!
Welcome to the channel! Thanks for the kind words, I'm really happy you can learn some tricks. If you do some photo shoots, please share. Always fun to watch others work. Cheers!
Thank you. Will definitely share - let me know how you'd like me to share it. Would be great to get your opinion on it. At the moment though, can't get enough of your videos :)
Thanks man! You can always post on your social media platforms and share link here or you can email me directly at join@botvidsson.se

Soon my friend, soon! :)
These videos are just so helpful!
Very happy to hear that Peter! Thank you.
@@botvidsson Seriously, you are helping to turn my product photography around. Both my workflow and the quality of my output are much improved (and my clients love it). One of the most helpful things is that you show us the process of figuring out how to go from blah to wow. This is not only entertaining, but also helps us to streamline things as we watch you problem solve.
Wow, thanks a lot. That is really nice to hear. Happy to help!
You are the only one making videos on product only
Keep making and uploading
Thanks Malik! It's a bit slow right now but there will be new video tutorials soon...
hello martin, good shot et idea with the "paint light" anyway i would prefer having a reflection through the bottle to see the red color of the wine. In that way i'm not sure that it would be possible to get a paint light on the label... i love your work !
Thanks! Yes I agree, that would actually been nice.
Awesome video! I wish I could come to your studio but I’m a little far away in the US :P
One day I will come to US :)
Thanks man.
I could watch this all day. Hilarious. Thank you for making a normally boring tutorial fun with your awesome personality.
Thanks Samantha! Big hugs from Sweden!
I'm not from Sweden I'm from Sri Lanka. I'm watching every video your putting into Chanel. one day if I got the chance to come to Sweden I will definitely visit your studio. You're doing great and very understandable. Thank you for the all good work.
You are very kind! Let's hope for Sweden one day.
Wow!!! now drink the wine; believe me; that wine is good...same high quality as the final shot.
Thanks Stefano! Yes, Barbaresco! I actually got the bottle straight from the guys at Castello Di Verduno. :)
Good stuff will try it tonight, he is hilarious 🤣
Thanks man!
Lol. We have the same ringtone!
Jack, you and me
Jag hittade din kanal i dag och kan inte stoppa mig kolla vidare, du är en underbar.
Jag tror att det jätte kul att träffa dig 👌
Huge thanks man!
With you at the helm flash photography does not look that daunting. Thank you for your patience in explaining everything.
Great to hear! Thanks a lot!
Amazing RUclips channel, I have 2 questions for you, could I also make a rim ligth with another stripbox from behind instead of a sheet of paper to shape the bottle like in the video? And why many photographers use stripboxes over softboxes? is it because the light source is more thinner and you don't want it to spread too much? or is it better for glasses, wine, beer? Thank you so much and hope to be replied soon.
Thanks Diego. Absolutely, you can use a stripbox from behind to make a rim-light like I did, just make sure that you place it far far back. It's like you wrote, stripboxes are good if you need to have more control over the light. Not to spread too much. Also popular for bottles when lighting from the front like I did in the beginning of the video. BUT... it is possible to use regular softboxes too, you just need to angle them more, that will make the softbox more like a stripbox. It will make the softbox more narrow, just like a stripbox. In an upcoming episode I will show how that is done.
Thanks for subscribing! Stay tunes for more tutorials. All the best /Martin
Question, how important is a strip light for something like this vs a square softbox? I'm trying to figure out what modifiers I should invest in next for my set up...
I would say that strip boxes are very useful but you can also use soft boxes and block one edge and then you can use them as strip boxes.
Nice
Thanks!
hey Martin! Hope this finds you well. I was wondering how you built that table top stand. Was welding involved?
If I used the keyboard stand it's just a regular keyboard/synthesiser stand from a random music store. Easy to adjust the hight.
Great stuff mate . Can this be done with 40 inch octa box ?
Hm, at first I was thinking no! But then!! If you cover the octa with something black and make it narrow, then It will work.
It will probably also work to cover the center and get two lights on both sides of the bottle, don't forget to put up the diffusions on the sides of the bottle to get a nice gradient.
its really knowledge..........I would love to see u and learn some interesting stuff from u.......I strongly hope so.....stay blessed
Big thanks!
Have you ever tried firing the light right on axis toward the camera, then inserting a flag to create a black background, with the resulting spill around it rimminng the bottle.
Yes, that is very good trick. Actually, we did that on this shot: ruclips.net/video/FjFwHtX0NY4/видео.html
Thank you the your videos, Martin! Can you please write the name of that table attached to the lighstand? or the link)
Hi and thanks, just click on the gear link in the description www.amazon.com/shop/botvidsson
You see the baby plate on the second row - far left.
Sure I will get in touch when I rech there. Thanks once again.
Don't let me drink wine I'll blow your mind , I like your vids they make me laugh
👍🏼😆
very interesting techniques which I will try to duplicate
Great!
I so like your tutorial, pls go on make and share
Huge thanks! I will try to make more stuff soon.
Mesmerizing video. As soon as it finished i immediately saw the number of views. What? Only this much?
I was expecting million plus. Too sad, the niche is too narrow on viewers.
Great work.
If i ever traveled to Sweden, i will visit your studio, just to say hello.
You're always welcome! Thanks.
I love Martins videos. I've used his work as research material for a photography course I am on. Have subscribed
🙏 Thank you! Great to hear!
@@botvidsson thank you Martin.
Ps I am lighting a vodka bottle for an assessment in a few weeks. If you get the chance.. Not pressuring you or anything ;)
jamie keepin I have a whisky bottle tutorial, you can use that technique for the vodka bottle 😃
@@botvidsson ha nice one. Yes I've borrowed your techniques already. With credit to you obviously. I'll check the whisky one. But its the wrong feel. Still learning basics. Whisky is warm vodka cold. But I'll check again anyway. Thank you for engaging

very thank for your tutorial . i wish i am your
neighbor to ask you product photo everyday
and pay you with vietnam coffee lol
Vietnamese coffee sounds great, one day I might come close to you.
Qué papel es el que utilizas como difusor?? Es blanco puro o tirando a beige??
White. Check my Amazon shop below the video.
Do you have a link to the surface/glass you shoot the bottle on? Trying to find one on amazon that can attach to a light stand
Sorry no link. I think this is just a metal shelf I found somewhere. Be creative, go to a hardware store and look around. Good luck.
@@botvidsson Thanks for the reply and I've found a solution. PS Your work is amazing and has provided me with so much knowledge and insight into product photography.
Very happy to hear that!
