That’s entirely superstition, demons used have absolutely no affect on your alignment score, the only things that affect alignment are: story events (some are dialogue choices, others are simply forced I.e. killing the Minotaur gives I believe -5 alignment) and specific side quests (pretty much any side quests that gives a dialogue option). The neutral route also requires certain side quests to be completed in order to get it as well.

As someone who enjoyed SMT Nocturne, I completely agree with you. The characters and alignments in that game were not well developed. They never gave me reason enough to care about which side I would pick to fight for. Meanwhile, SMTIV did the complete opposite. You are together with your allies from the very beginning, and traveling with them you get to know their personalities so much better, and you have enough time to establish a connection with them. One of my most memorable moments in the SMT series was when I had to fight and kill Isabeu, who didnt agree with the path I had chosen. I remember very well the feeling I felt of not wanting to kill her but being forced by the game to do so, as if I was having my decisions tested. Honestly, even now years later thinking about it it still hits me, and moments like that are exactly what makes me love the SMT more than other jrpgs.
I hope the people that started with SMTV that are now going back to the older SMT games realize how much better the story telling was in previous games. I liked 5 but it for sure was missing the weight that the story in 4 had.

Found this video out of the blue, and gotta say, you're 100% right why SMT IV is great. The community is visceral sometimes, but like any other, just ignore them.
I actually loved the way SMT 3 portrayed the cast, they seem to go on their own journey just like you yourself & it felt more natural than any other cast of other jrpgs where they're stuck like a glue to the protagonist, sure some of the scenes where they show up could've used some more dialogue where they talk more about their differences but overall they did a really good job IMO. SMT 4 took a more traditional route akin to the way SMT 1 & it executed it really well but personally 3 will always have a special place in my heart.
I’m so glad I got to see this video, I ended up getting the Neutral route (And blindly without a guide, lmao) but holy fuck the Law route is just as cool too? Awesome!
Currently on my 3rd run of SMT IV, going Chaos route this time. After watching this and playing for the first time, I can indeed confirm: Luck build best build (love the vid)
I have played 26 Shin Megami Tensei games.Mainline, spin offs anything that has the Shin Megami Tensei on the title.SMT IV is by far my favourite. And the soundtrack of this games is a masterpiece
If you plant to play SMT IV Apocalypse, then remember this: When you or your demon got the Sick status debuff, every attack coming at you will always hit you, 100%
if i'm not remembering wrongly, to reach the neutral ending, you have to answer all questions with the first answer until the event of the caves of decisions and avoiding a room in ikebukuro where answering a girl's question will give you 10 points in alignment. also isabeau best girl.
It actually doesn't matter what you say at any point per se. Your alignment starts at 0 and every single decision decision after is + (law) or - (chaos) points. Most decisions are only +/- 1 point, with a few of the more extreme decisions being 5 points. the ones right before you get locked into a route are the most extreme at 10 points. You are considered neutral anytime your points are between +/- 8. The unfortunate result of this is that if you are neutral going into the final alignment decision (and have played the whole game neutrally) its frequently not possible to actually get the neutral route, as any value between -2 and +2 will result in you getting locked into an alignment no mater what (example: if you managed to perfectly balance all decisions to reach this point at 0, "destroy" makes you chaos with -10 and "preserve" makes you law with +10). The most popular guide does recommend always choosing the first dialogue option before going to the reactor with jonathan, then using the latter portion of the game balancing out, but that guide also marks the exact value of every decision, meaning you can say whatever you want so long as you are at least +/-3 by the final question.
It's also highly reccomended that you avoid one questline in particular where you fight in an arena. Sparing or killing your opponents results in your alignment fluctuating wildly.
I highly suggest you upload all the other endings, specially the Neutral/Isabeau ending, when I got that one, I just had massive shivers. ALSO there's secret fiends that you can hunt, but the only way to find them all is being on the Neutral route with Isabeau, but its a massive headache, they have a 1/256 chance of spawning on certain locations and are insanely hard. I hunted them all myself, red rider still gives me ptsd, I uploaded my attempts on my channel btw lol. SMT IV is my fav RPG ever, I even got a 3DS just for it and in total I must have around 600 hours on it (emulation + 300 hours on my 3ds)
Hey, Crystahl! Somebody probably already told you, but Isabeau's manga is an actual manga you can read! It's called Rose of Versailles, it's a romance manga, and it's even pretty good!
there's also smt4 apocalypse, a game made for those who didn't lie ANY of SMT4's endings so...we'll see what ya think of it. Stephen's interestng cause he's a character from the first SMT game. I'm not sure if i should extrapolate more about him just in case it spils anythng about him in other games or if you somehow end up playing the first game.
I've only played this game through once so far. I keep hearing about how hard it is to get the neutral ending without a guide, but I must have lucked out, since I got the neutral ending without any guide. Either luck or by complete accident, I was just answering questions as I felt I would have in real life.

@@funninoriginal6054 Nah, new SMT fans will probably like redux more.
I'm gonna cackle once she starts playing 4A. And "that" DLC which gives you some background about Mikado. If you know, you know. 😏
This "kingdom above a city" concept was really interesting to me, reminded me of Ankh-Morphok, Dark Souls, and that New York video lmao.
0:08 Eli, Eli, Lema Sabachthani is a film directed by Shinji Aoyama. Eloi Eloi Lama Sabachthani is what Jesus said on the cross - "my lord, my lord, why have you forsaken me?"
If you liked SMT IV this much, I strongly recommend giving the first Devil Survivor a try. Personally I think it has the best thought out endings in the whole series, and the modern day setting improves the story telling and characterization a lot.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one startled by that introduction "UHHHNNHHHHHH!!!!"
Relax man ; I'm 4 minutes into the game.
Found this video out of the blue, and gotta say, you're 100% right why SMT IV is great. The community is visceral sometimes, but like any other, just ignore them.
This has the hardest neutral route to follow. Needs a guide just to know what you want before you want it!
59:48, hell yeah, looking like an MMORPG character that just started out and has been playing for like 2 days and is eager to show off their hat.
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!
The game that is just one long bop
I recently got SMTIV and this stream is helping me progress you are the real
Mvp Crystal
i think the thing i liked the most was the party thinking tokyo was weird and unclean when in reality THEY were the outsiders
I’m so glad I got to see this video, I ended up getting the Neutral route (And blindly without a guide, lmao) but holy fuck the Law route is just as cool too? Awesome!
Currently on my 3rd run of SMT IV, going Chaos route this time. After watching this and playing for the first time, I can indeed confirm:
Luck build best build (love the vid)
Really enjoying watching this and reliving the first time smt 4 experience
Smt IV and Smt strange journey have the best stories in the mainline series imho
I love this game so much!! Definitely my personal favorite in the series.
Every time Crystaahhl gets a Demons weakness wrong, Fuuka laughs at her in Oracle: lose all SP
I have played 26 Shin Megami Tensei games.Mainline, spin offs anything that has the Shin Megami Tensei on the title.SMT IV is by far my favourite. And the soundtrack of this games is a masterpiece
Getting destroyed in Naruku is a right of passage for smt4, lol
"Are you consulting your demons?"
"Yes, Burroughs."
*Discussing with Chat.*
If you plant to play SMT IV Apocalypse, then remember this:
When you or your demon got the Sick status debuff, every attack coming at you will always hit you, 100%
if i'm not remembering wrongly, to reach the neutral ending, you have to answer all questions with the first answer until the event of the caves of decisions and avoiding a room in ikebukuro where answering a girl's question will give you 10 points in alignment. also isabeau best girl.
You don't _have_ to do it that way, but it's probably the easiest method if you're actively aiming for it.
@@simonO712 yes, i simply didn't write properly. i only remember doing so in my play after i read a post somewhere.
@@conspiracypanda1200 thanks for all the memories, it was a few years ago after all, don't remember all of it now.
Consider playing the Digital Devil Saga duology! Very great games with some of the better stories in SMT
But Charon’s always disappointed in you, that’s why they want to speak to the manager
I love Liam O Brien for playing Akihiko, but I HATE him as Navarre.
I love that content creators are adapting the term “RUclips” after the rtgame video.
42:12 Crystaahhl lived long enough to BECOME the Mothman.
That's exactly it. I suffered through the Minotaur like everyone else and now I enjoy watching others struggle like I did.
Hell yeah! Smt4 is a blast to play, the right amount of dificulty and storytelling.
I'm still waiting for the Marsh/Crystal crossover
Can't wait for when you get to Strange Journey aka Suffering The Game
It's real great! :D
What in the *RUclips*
It's spreading, and I couldn't b3 happier for dan
0:42 Law route foreshadowing lol
Oh mannnn!!!! Now I want to see how she handles the Fiends. All of them.
I love this game so much
I wonder how crystal would like strange journey if she likes Mastema so much
I just beat smt 4, managed to get Neutral so seeing the other sides of the coin is interesting
I love Burroughs.
But no amount of love can get me to 100% this game.
Yesss...waited so long for this!!!!!
Hey, Crystahl! Somebody probably already told you, but Isabeau's manga is an actual manga you can read! It's called Rose of Versailles, it's a romance manga, and it's even pretty good!
i'm so glad you understand how special smt iv is
there's also smt4 apocalypse, a game made for those who didn't lie ANY of SMT4's endings so...we'll see what ya think of it.
