Perfect demo! I absolutely love this color on you! And you are completely correct, you never need to go over 20 vol for gray coverage! Every 10 is another level of lift so you just need those two levels to open up that stubborn gray and deposit the color:)! And PS your eyes look SO beautiful and green at the end (right before you went outside)...Just gorgeous Dawn!!
Thank you, Penn! I love having a knowledgeable friend to let me know if I’m on track, or completely off track! (It happens). Thanks for the kind words💗💞😘
I just did this and I am so impressed with the color, with the instructions!! First time for me, due to COVID-19 - I thank you for making this simple enough for first-timers like me!
Hi Ann!! I’m so happy that this was easy for you to follow and you are happy with your results. I love that the formula doesn’t fade much between colorings. I appreciate you taking the time to tell me that this video was helpful! You made my day!! Sending love & well wishes!! Dawn🌷☀️
Your hair is a gorgeous color and I'd like to get more reddish tones in my blonde so I'm going to look into Wella colors. Just FYI, the red you use is pronounced Tih-shun because it's spelled Titian (2 i's). Titian was an artist and this refers to a shade of red he used in many of his paintings. :)
Hi!! Thank you for your kind words, and for leaving me a comment:). Thank you for the correct pronunciation for Titian. I had no idea I was mispronouncing it, but that makes perfect sense. I’m also going to read up on that painter. I hope you find the perfect color to achieve the results you would like. Have a great day! Dawn😊
Thank you! I was using Molly's and was coming out too dark. I will save hers for when I go grey. Your neighbourhood looks gorgeous by the way when you go outside. Thanks again from western Australia!
Hi Joanne!! Thank you for commenting. It’s nice to know that when our hair is 100% gray we can still get beautiful results using Molly’s formula. I hope my tweaks work well for you!! Thank you for the kind words!! I’d love to see Australia some day!! Xoxo, Dawn💜
Life with Lillie sent me over with her shout out. I enjoy how articulate you are with your descriptions. What is wonderful about Wella is that by using more developer, than most hair color companies, it gives you more product to use. Especially great with thick hair right? I haven't had an opportunity to watch your other videos, did you ever attend beauty school? Your application is so spot on. You may want to add more of your red to the formula that you add to the shaft of your hair. Our roots pick up hotter than the shaft.
hair dresser I appreciate you comment so much. I am not a hairdresser, but my mom is, and always did her own hair herself at home, so it took the fear factor out of it for me. It’s been a lot of trial and error over the years. I was thrilled when i found Molly’s DIY (and Wella colorcharm) on RUclips. It was a huge game changer! Thank you for the tip about adding more red to the shaft. It does get “hot” at the roots. I’m so happy that you stopped over to my channel. Shelia is so sweet and always makes me laugh! I’m looking forward to getting to know you! Much love, Dawn🌸
This is Donna, not Jim! We use the same cell phone, emai, and Facebook, so I didn't want you to be confused! I am 58, and still have my strawberry blonde hair. I have some pure shiny silver strands, much like the gold strands that I have had all of my life. I'm so glad to see your video! I told my husband to never erase this video so that when needed I can dye my hair like you showed us. Thank you so much! I can't see myself paying one hundred dollars to have my hair dyed! But I really don't want to lose my pretty color either! Thanks again!
Hi Donna! I’m so happy to hear that you found this helpful. I was so worried that once my hair started graying, so I am thrilled to be able to keep my strawberry blonde hair vibrant at home! If you ever have any questions, just ask. We redheads need to stick together!! Much love, Dawn🌹🌹🌹😘
Your hair looks beautiful and shiny. You mixed and applied ingredients with much confidence. I like the music. My hair is nearly to my waist. Lately, I pull my hair I to a bun. Then, if I want to color I color the parts that come before the bun. I like your technique, though.
Hi Dawn, Thank you for your video. You are a pleasure to watch ! I was curious as to how your color looked when you used the honey blonde with the Titian blonde. Do you have any videos or pics you can share? I’d like to go strawberry blonde from an ash blonde, but I don’t want it to look too gold. Thank you!
This is a perfectly timed question! The last time I colored my hair (last week) i used Honey blonde and Titian red blonde (2oz of honey blonde & 1oz Of Titian red blonde mixed with 6oz vol 20 developer) It Definitely looks less gold. I like the results! I have an Instagram (dawn’slifeover40) the last picture of me is with this combination. If you don’t have an Instagram my next video will be with the slightly darker hair. It’s still strawberry blonde, but a lot less golden (or brassy). I hope this helps!!
First Of all, you have a beautiful, thick, healthy head of hair. This is a great demonstration of how to color hair. I have been toying with idea of coloring mines, I have noticed two strands of grey that's not all that noticeable. Your hair turned out great! Super video 👍👌💕
Marla Robinson Good evening Marla, you’ve got such a chic hair style. I wish I was brave enough to go shorter with my hair but your lovely & petite so shorter hair really suits you so much. Love 😘
Marla, do you really cut & colour your own hair? That's amazing - I absolutely love your hair! I"d love to try a similar style myself (not sure if I have the bone structure to carry it off, though) but I'd definitely have to go to a salon - I can't even cut my dog's hair.
Marla, I agree with Noushin and Lisa. You have the perfect haircut for your face shape. You should never go to a hairdresser because you do it perfectly. Isn’t it great to do it yourself in the comfort of your own home? I try to do everything I can by myself. That’s why I love my RUclips buddies! I can learn from all of you!
Hi Dawn! Thanks so much for posting this video! I had tried Molly's ratios and my hair was coming out too red. I followed your suggestion of 2:1 and it turned out perfect! Please keep the hair videos coming and update us on the formulas you are using. :) Have a beautiful day!
Hi Carolyn!! This means so much to me! It really does!!! I was hoping this would be helpful because it has been liberating for me to learn to do this at home. Your comment warms my heart! Much love, Dawn😊
Thank you, Betsy! It really is so much easier and less expensive than visiting the salon. I just like to do everything in the comfort of my own home. Thank you for your kind words Betsy! Much love, Dawn🌸
You're very beautiful, love your hair. I purchased what you used, that's how much I loved it. I will be using it tomorrow. Thank you, great video. I also love Molly. ♥
Beautiful color. I'd love to try this, really need your advise. I have premature WHITE hair from 18 years old. WHAT ADJUSTMENTS WOULD I NEED TO DO, since white has no pigment?
Hi Kate! I have some whites at my temples. I apply my color there first and let it process the longest. I also use a product called overtone. You have to be careful with it though (I’ll be making a video soon with tips on how to make it work for you) but I use the shade Ginger and apply it to my temple area between coloring and use the daily conditioner periodically between colorings to keep everything fresh. I hope this helps you!! Have a great Saturday!!
Good evening darling, this is a great video. You’ve got beautiful hair. I’m the same as you that I’m 54 & I don’t have many grey hair either. Love your nail polish 💅. Much love Noushin 🌸🌼💕🇬🇧
I love the color! I color my own hair at home too. I have to do mine so often bc my twin and I started getting gray strands at 19! I'm a natural redhead but sometimes try to tone mine down with blonde. Thanks for sharing. You look so pretty!😊
Hi Cindy! Awww! Twin redheads! Your mother must have been so proud! One of my four kids has my red hair. I was so happy 1 out of 4 got the gene. I guess that’s why it’s so rare. Thank you for watching! XO, Dawn
It looks beautiful on you! The red tones definitely suit you. I need to go to the hairdresser to dye my hair, I don't think I can do it on my own. I'd love to but I've never tried it before.
Hi Alina! It’s scary the first time you do it. I’m not gonna sugar coat it, but once you learn it’s super easy. It helps to talk to someone who does their own at home first, or like in my case, watch many RUclips videos from people that have the color you desire. XO, Dawn💞
I love your Color Dawn :) I have done my own color at home, I would try others now as I am a bit more comfortable doing it than I was. Thanks for sharing, hope you have a wonderful day love and blessings xoxo
Lori, it must take you a lot of product to color your thick, long hair. I bet you save a ton of money doing it yourself. You have gorgeous hair! I would love to have your curls. Thanks for your sweet comment! Much love, Dawn🌷
Hi Kathleen! First, I’m not a hairdresser, but I do know that highlighted hair is more porous, so it may absorb more color. I did have highlights in my hair prior to trying this color on my hair several years ago. I consulted with my mom who is a hairdresser. She told me to use Cholesterol (by Queen Helene, you can find it at Sally’s or on Amazon). I did a few deep conditioning treatments to make sure my hair was strong and healthy. This made my hair feel and look healthier because I was adding color and not lightening my hair. I’d say to do a patch test on a small portion of your hair to see how the color will look before proceeding to do your whole head of hair. If you do know a hairdresser who could look at your unique hair to give any additional advice that would be best. I do love this color! I wish you all the best!!! Let me know how it goes!! Much love, Dawn🌸
Hey love!! I think you're a chemist too!!! Love the color!! You're so lucky to not be gray yet!!!! You're gorgeous even with color in your hair! So pretty!!! Love u tons! Xoxoxo!!!
Thank you, Kathy! I said to my husband “I guess there’s nothing I won’t put on RUclips. My bare face, my hair covered in dye, what’s next?” Lol! I know you can relate. But YOU are the gorgeous one!!! Much love, Dawn🌸
Hi Amy! I usually finish up a tube every 3-4 months and it seems to last just fine if I close the tube tightly and keep it beneath my bathroom cabinet. I hope this helps! Have a great Sunday!! Love, Dawn🥰😘
Hi Dawn. Love your channel. What lippie are you wearing? I am also a redhead In my 50s and my mom had me die It to get some red in It about 2 years ago. Same here very little grey. I use clairol 8G golden blonde and It works perfect so for now It keeps me strawberry blonde. :-)
Laura, I’m wearing my favorite L’Oreal Color Riche in “ Julianne’s Nude”. It was chosen for Julianne Moore. Another red head! I also really like L’Oreal Peach Fizz. Do you have any favorites that you would recommend. Redheads have unique coloring so I love picking other redheads brains for color suggestions. Here is a link for the lipstick (it’s not an affiliate or sponsored link or anything like that) www.ulta.com/colour-riche-collection-exclusive-nude-lipcolour?productId=xlsImpprod10291020 Much love, Dawn🌷
Hi Dawn, thank you for this video. I have the same exact coloring as you, not much gray either, and have been using Wella 8g/841-light golden blonde and 8rg/729-Titian Red. Sometimes I find my hair gets a little brassy. Was wondering what difference Titian Red and 10gv/1036-honey blonde made on your hair (saw this in your older video). Did you notice a difference in the tone. Do you think the honey blonde made your hair less brassy? Not saying your hair looks brassy at all! Just looking to tone down my brassiness. Thank you!
Hi Pamela! Thank you for watching my video. Actually the honey blonde did tone down the golden tones. I decided that I really like that combo in the fall and winter. It’s a subtle difference, but It’s noticeable to me. I hope this helps!! Have a great day!🌺🌷😘
Dawn how quickly do you feel your color fades and you have to recollect? I watched the other strawberry blonde and she has to retouch every three weeks or so. That’s really high maintenance. Is your color like that too?
Hi Cindy! I do not have to retouch my color. I’m naturally a redhead with just a bit of gray. Molly is over 90% gray so I think that’s why hers fades quicker. I do notice that it fades quicker by my temples where I have more gray. I apply a 10% developer on those areas first. Then apply the color. It tends to last much longer between touch ups. I hope this helps!!
Oh Dawn I enjoyed watching this video so much! I could watch your videos every day. I have a day off today so just laying under the blanket, drinking coffee, eating breakfast and spending time with you! ;) Love it! ♡ It's amazing how you achieve such great results at home! I was dying my hair myself too for... I think 10 years! But I was never happy with it haha I stopped dying it 7 years ago and now I have more grey hair than you do! Seriously :))) It's so cool that you're using Wella products. They're German and back at home that was my favourite brand for any hair products - especially hairspray! But here in Canada I haven't seen it anywhere! I also love your outdoor scenery! Beautiful fall colours! I already forgot that It's still fall haha ;) Everything is white here ❄ enjoy your day Dawn! Can't wait to see your next video!
Hello,i dyed my hair using the wella products you've mentioned here in the red titan red blone, the light golden blonde and came out more of a coppery red im not sure what i did wrong but looking for more of a strawberry blonde look should i add more of the light Golden blonde in it? Thank you!
Hi Lola! Yes, if you would like it to look more strawberry than your results presently are, I’d add more blonde than red. I hope this helps!! Keep me posted!!
Your roots are barely showing. Lol! Your hair color is very pretty!! LOVE your nail color. I color mine at home too, it saves me so much money. Have a nice evening Dawn :-)
Thanks for sharing, this was so helpful and you are so beautiful! I would have had no idea that you weren't in your 30's if you didn't say otherwise! I also followed Molly's formula, but it is a little dark for my taste so I am going to take a page from you and try mixing the Titian Red Blonde with a lighter blonde, either level 9 or 10. I would love to hear more about your experience mixing the Titian Red Blonde with lighter color blonde shades and if you stripped the color from your hair when you switched from the darker red combo (8 RG and 8 G) to the lighter strawberry blonde combo. Thanks!
Hi Rachel! Thank you so much for the compliment!! That’s so nice to hear😊 I have never stripped the color from my hair prior to trying a new combination. I’ve never felt the need. I have changed my hairstyle. I now have a short bob, so my hair is pretty healthy. My current favorite combo is 1oz Titian red blonde mixed with 2 oz light golden blonde mixed with 6 oz vol20 developer. It is a nice light strawberry blonde and does a great job of blending the pesky grays! Lol!! Best wishes with your experiment as Molly says “always tweak the formula” you’ll find exactly the right combo for you!! Much love, Dawn🌸🌷
@@DawnsLifeover40 Thank you so much for getting back to me! So it looks like you went back to Molly's original formula, so glad that works for you. I think am going to try mixing 1/2 oz Titian Red with 2 oz of Honey Blonde (10GV) or maybe even Sand Blonde (9NG) to get a softer, lighter strawberry blonde. I believe you said in one of your videos that you had tried these combos out as well. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and stay safe!
I know your comment is from a while ago but I thought I’d share that I have also tried the formula and it is too dark for me. My natural hair colour is dirty blonde. I then went 8RG and 9G and it came out too reddish, almost light wine colour and not much strawberry/ copper that I like so much. I suspect there is not that much yellow pigment in 9G to turn red to orange / strawberry. the 8RG just got diluted (I’m not a professional stylist so I’m just guessing). So then I have decided to mix in more golden tones and my next combo was 8.34 and 9G (not wella, from a different brand) and it came out light brown with a little copper hue only so again a fail😭 my next formula will be 8.04 + 9.3+ 0.33 (yellow pigment) mixed (50% 8.04, 25% 9.3 and 25% 0.33). I have just ordered it and I’m going to wait another month or so to wash a little bit of that brown off and restore the health of my hair before I dye it again😂 if you don’t mind sharing your formulas, it would be helpful!
Your hair is gorgeous! I want to try this but I'm scared to use "permanent" color. Could you recommend what shades to combine in the Wella ColorCharm Demi Permanent line to get the same formula? (or any other semi or demi permanent line) Thank you!!
Hi Amy! I have never used the Demi formula before, so I went to Sally’s Beauty Supply website to see if the Demi shades come in the same colors that I use in the permanent range (Titian red blonde & Light Golden blonde) but they don’t have the same colors in the Demi formula. I would go to Sally’s If you have one near you and ask the sales person what they would recommend. I’m sorry I can’t offer more help. Thank you for the sweet compliment & Best wishes to you!! Love, Dawn💗
The previous color looked pretty on you, but I absolutely love the color you just applied. You're lucky to not have to deal with the greys. Mine is very grey without adding color, and I'm not looking to go grey at this time.Peace! ~TONI 💙🌸💐💚
I'm in my early 40's and a natural red head. No grays yet but i'll remember this video just in case!!!! I think it's harder for red heads coloring your hair because it's what you're known for.
Hi. I'm almost 74 and only have a little grey at temples. So weird . My children are much more grey than me. I highlite my hair with blond. I have lite brown hair. Thank you for info. Very nice video.
I also purchased the Emerald City Palette perfect, But hold on to your seat I purchased It for 9.99 In TJMaxx. Take a look In there for awesome finds. :-)
Hello gorgeous Dawn. Really? You have no greys? This is a bit much: not only do you have naturally thick, full, lustrous hair, AND it really suits you to wear it long, AND you look decades younger than your real age ... Please tell me you have bunions. Or a hangnail. Just...find something. xxLisa. Btw I couldn't help noticing that your finished hair colour (which is beautiful btw) matches your cupboard & your eyes are the colour of your walls. Uncanny! xox

Dawn's Life, over 40 you are!!😍
You did a great job dying your hair and this color is lovely on you but I always think you are just a stunner😍😍😍😍
The House Of Gray thank you sweet friend! The feeling is mutual😘
Hi Dawn, how long does the tube of Titian Red Blonde last after opening it since you don't use it all at once when coloring? Thank you!

Here is a link for the lipstick (it’s not an affiliate or sponsored link or anything like that) www.ulta.com/colour-riche-collection-exclusive-nude-lipcolour?productId=xlsImpprod10291020
Much love,
Dawn🌷
Gorgeous color and so natural looking! 😁
Thank you, Adele! I love being able to do it myself at home😊🌸
Have a great day!🌺🌷😘
Thank you!
This is my natural hair color. I like how it looks on you, very natural
Thank you, Ellie!! I appreciate the kind words!!
Xoxo,
Dawn🌱
Hello,i dyed my hair using the wella products you've mentioned here in the red titan red blone, the light golden blonde and came out more of a coppery red im not sure what i did wrong but looking for more of a strawberry blonde look should i add more of the light Golden blonde in it? Thank you!
Hi Lola!
Yes, if you would like it to look more strawberry than your results presently are, I’d add more blonde than red. I hope this helps!! Keep me posted!!
@@DawnsLifeover40 that's what i was thinking also thank you for taking the time to getting back to me! Have a great night Dawn!
Your roots are barely showing. Lol! Your hair color is very pretty!! LOVE your nail color. I color mine at home too, it saves me so much money. Have a nice evening Dawn :-)
Thank you, Corinna! It is so much easier and wayyyy less money, which my husband appreciates😜. Thank you for the kind words!
Much love,
Dawn🌸
That’s so nice to hear😊
I have never stripped the color from my hair prior to trying a new combination.
Much love,
Dawn🌸🌷
@@DawnsLifeover40 Thank you so much for getting back to me! So it looks like you went back to Molly's original formula, so glad that works for you. I think am going to try mixing 1/2 oz Titian Red with 2 oz of Honey Blonde (10GV) or maybe even Sand Blonde (9NG) to get a softer, lighter strawberry blonde. I believe you said in one of your videos that you had tried these combos out as well. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and stay safe!
Yes, I’ve tried both of those combos and liked them both!!! Let me know how you like it!!🌸
@@DawnsLifeover40 Will do! It is reassuring to know that you tried these combos and liked them as I am very new to doing my hair at home by myself!
Love,
Dawn💗
@@DawnsLifeover40 Thank you!
The previous color looked pretty on you, but I absolutely love the color you just applied. You're lucky to not have to deal with the greys. Mine is very grey without adding color, and I'm not looking to go grey at this time.Peace! ~TONI 💙🌸💐💚
Thank you so much, Toni!
I'm in my early 40's and a natural red head. No grays yet but i'll remember this video just in case!!!! I think it's harder for red heads coloring your hair because it's what you're known for.
Wow you are really amazing... Awesome video
Oh, Thank you!😊
I feel like the squeeze tube adds an extra step since you use the brush anywats.
Shar Roon I agree!! Thank you for watching!!😘🌹

You sound just like my aunt!! Where are you from?
Kristina Terry hi! I’m from the Suburbs of Chicago. I have a midwestern accent. Where is your aunt from?
Dawn's Life, over 40 oh haha she lives in Joliet Illinois. You guys sound identical.
Kristina Terry that explains it!!! We are neighbors!! Love it!!!
You’re so pretty☺️
GIDDY PUMPERNICKLE. Thank you!! That’s very kind of you to say!😊
That was recolor. I hate it when my phone thinks it’s smarter than I am. 🤪
Haha!! I knew what you were trying to say. 😉
It looks like you have darker roots.
Hi Janet! My hair grows in a deeper red than the shade I color it. It seems to get darker as I age.
Thanks for watching!
Love,
Dawn💗
Hello gorgeous Dawn. Really? You have no greys? This is a bit much: not only do you have naturally thick, full, lustrous hair, AND it really suits you to wear it long, AND you look decades younger than your real age ... Please tell me you have bunions. Or a hangnail. Just...find something. xxLisa. Btw I couldn't help noticing that your finished hair colour (which is beautiful btw) matches your cupboard & your eyes are the colour of your walls. Uncanny! xox
Come on!!! You are always so sweet to me! Trust me, I have plenty of flaws! PLENTY!!! Thank you for the sweet compliment though.😘
You are full of happiness how I came to get happiness from you bi feeling happiness dear friend 💖💘🌷💙👄💖💘👄
