    I order this setup after watching your video. I have a 2005 VT750 DC Spirit. My headlight housing, I found out, is much smaller than yours. Plus, there seemed to be quite a few more wires in mine. I ended up mounting the ballast and other parts outside the housing concealing as much as I could. The light is fantastic as it really lights up the night! Your video was my inspiration to do this project, so thank you. But my install was a huge pain in the butt.

    I had a problem with my headlight. Only the hi beams worked and the low beams shut off. It was used as a police escort and the lights that were removed were terribly wired. About one minute into your video helped me get my light open
    👍 Thumbs up and thank you. They had clipped the low beam wire to use it for I guess a strobe.

    Awesome, thanks! Can you make a video how to wire hid drving lights on the light bar? Btw, not sure if you have it but they make a fuse block so you dont have to connect a bunch of wires to your battery. Mine came with one. The new price on mine is, i want to say around $60 if memory serves, though the one i have is discontinued. Previous owner installed a tach, trickle, something i dont remember and one fuse spot is unused. The funny thing is he used house extension cord lol! Went all out on expensive aftermarket parts,i was surprised. But went with cheap wiring.
    Oh the thing i cudn remember~heated grips.

      Wanted to let you know. I contacted them, I was able to get a screaming deal on a new headlight. Manufacture came out with new style. so current stock drastically reduced. I got it for $75, plus shipping. I went with the LED projector. Once I get the batwing installed it will look great. I have a 2000 Areo C3 Black.

    I really like your videos. Especially the ones about your shadow because I have a shadow and I reference your vids when working on mine. What is the purpose of the hose on the right?

    • @funbro1
      @funbro1  9 лет назад

      JennyTommy Rogers That is a vent hose, It lets air into the tank as gas is removed "used" so that there is not a vacuum created in the tank. If there was a vacuum in the tank eventually you could "run out" of fuel even if you had a full tank. If you have ever taken your tank off you may have wondered why no fuel has leaked out the open hole. The "nipple" on the bottom of the tank goes up to the top of the tank where the air will end up as the tank empties, so unless you turn the tank all the way over chances are it will not leak from the hole. Hope this answers your question, You have made me feel like a bit of a nerd now :-) Anyway the shadow is a great running bike and I'm sure I will have more modifications and repairs to do in the future so I will keep them coming. Thanks for the question, happy riding, and thanks for watching.

    I see it appears you chose around 4300K HID lights. I have seen online that the HID goes up to 10-12000K in color. How did you decide on the 4300K? How much brighter is the 4300K compared to the OEM light? Does the HID put any excessive drain on battery power? I ask all this as I am new to HID as compared to the OEM and have little knowledge on the above questions.
    I see you have other lights there on the light bar I assume to supplement night driving lights as well. Were they stock, LED or what and how did yid you decide to get the type you did. I ask as I was considering supplemental driving lights on a light bar and then saw info on the HID and am not certain which direction would be best when trying to improve the lighting for night time driving. Especially on curves at night or if raining.

    • @funbro1
      @funbro1  7 лет назад

      I decided on the 4300k after seeing them on another bike, not to say that something else would have been better or worse but I really liked the way it lit up the road. The light bar has two 55 watt lights and before installing the HID I used them all the time, after the HID was installed it made such a big difference that I really don't need the light bar now. I haven't seen any ill affects on the battery because of the HID so that has not been an issue. I would recommend HID or LED for any bike it is a real big improvent to the stock light. Thanks for the question and Thanks for watching.

      Dave, check this reference: www.theretrofitsource.com/motorcycle-stage-1-single.html
      The 4300K temp bulbs put out the most light and is close to the yellowish color of old-school incandescent bulbs. However, with the new technology available now, many people are happier with the true daylight white of about 5500K. To me, 5500K has a much "cleaner" light and things seem to stand out better at night.
      1200K bulbs? Those are only for customizing or people who need to be in the latest fad. The light output is blue, the lumen output is lower and the color is less usable to the eyes. Ever hear of "blue-blocker" eye glass lenses? They are designed to filter out this type of blue.

    I'm curious, the LED accent lights under your tank. Did you unhook them because not amber, or your local officials don't want indirect accent lights of any color?

      I dont know the specifics. Being LED the headlamp should pull less current than a stock 55w bulb, just as a 60 watt equivilent led bulb for household use pulls 15-20% of a standard 60 watt bulb

    • @johnw6038
      @johnw6038 5 лет назад

      @@joeblow7565 it's not LED it's an hid it'll use just as much power or more they have a ballast that is used for putting out the power to light the bulb

  • @1337bG01

    This is an incredibly stupid thing to do. You should never install HID's in a halogen housing. Without using a projector, they scatter light in every direction and blind people. I'm all for motorcycle visibility and safety, but this is a very wrong way to go about it.

    • @funbro1
      @funbro1  7 лет назад +7

      Cloves This is an incredibly stupid comment, the HID that was installed is designed to work as a projector in conjunction with the glass lens to keep from scattering the light and blinding people. I am all for comments but only constructive, knowledgeable ones. This comment is the WRONG way to go about it.
