- Manta rays are large rays belonging to the genus Manta. The larger species, M. birostris, reaches 7 m (23 ft 0 in) in width while the smaller, M. alfredi, reaches 5.5 m (18 ft 1 in). Both have triangular pectoral fins, horn-shaped cephalic fins and large, forward-facing mouths. They are classified among the Elasmobranchii (sharks and rays) and are placed in the family Myliobatidae (eagle rays).

Holy crap! Manta rays are my favorite animal. I folded one a while ago by a different design, but yours looks so much cleaner. It's like this video was made for me! I'm definitely going to fold a few soon.

This is a very rhythmic fold so far (1/3 in). Diagonal, rabbit ear, rabbit ear, diagonal, rabbit ear, squash, petal... Easy to recall.
I got some cardboard cones for Xmas. Gonna make a bunch of this ray, glue to cone, add lights and a star, voila, manta ray xmas tree.
Update: it gets hard slimming the stinger with the inside reverse folds, but I am sticking with it. I may have ADHD, I never finish in a sitting... learning any one origami is usually iterative. I memorize a bit, get stuck, get unstuck, and memorize a bit more.

A little difficult, but it turned out nice! Some of the tighter and smaller folds it was difficult to tell what was happening, but I slowed it down to 1/4 speed a few times and just watched over and over.
