Investigators with the Metro Nashville Police Department provided an update Thursday on the search for missing University of Missouri student Riley Strain.
Dreadful this poor young man to be thrown out alone in a strange city while drugged or intoxicated to that extent. It is heartbreaking that no one called police
My daughter is a bartender and she was horrified he’d been served to this point but also that they just put him out without any attempt to find his people or call an Uber. She says they have people roaming the bar floor specifically for this reason and a lot of times she gets the “cut him off” cue from the watchers.
No one that is made to leave because they are so drunk should be allowed to go on their own. There should have been a ride called or a person, like a friend, who made sure he got to a safe place. This is so sad. Especially with young adults traveling in a strange city, just wish he had not been allowed to leave alone.
I was shocked when I heard the Frat brothers didn't call the police until after 1 pm the NEXT day? I heard one of the friends walked out with him when Riley was kicked out, but the friend was made to go pay his tab before they allowed him to leave. I thought a group of Frat brothers were at that bar? The others couldn't have paid the tab and got reimbursed later? This whole situation is fkd up.
A good bar owner would have a car/uber/taxi on standby for customers who are intoxicated. Selling a substance that DOES impair persons is a responsibility that is been taken far too lightly. Bar owners need to be highly regulated and STOP been highly paid and behaving FLIPPANT at the same time. Legislation for bar licences need to be more regulated. I hope those bonuncers feel guilt and shame for not showing proper care and concern as well as the friends the lad went out drinking with. Who needs enemies when friends like them leave you so intoxicated that you disappear! Poor guy hope he is found.
May not twist arm to drink but ver certainly served him , they should be smart enough not to let anyone leave alone if they feel so inclined to kick him out for over intoxication!!!!
Businesses are not babysitter. People should be responsible specifically when drinking. If you to places that you don’t know you should act responsible.
It breaks my heart that nobody stopped to help him or call 911 to report seeing someone in that much distress especially after that fall. There is no way that not one person saw a 6 ft 6 tall young man that was stumbling all over the place and didn't see him fall over the bridge hear him fall into the water with that many people in that particular area at that time of night he could have been taken by somebody and that's scary One drink does not inebriate you in a manner that badly. Unless you were drugged is extremely unfortunate that his friends couldn't even ensure that one of them went with him or even called him a cab or Uber. I believe that when he fell he hit his head off the base of the block that held that sign. He was dressed well and had his cell phone in his hand wearing an Apple watch in a very high crime area. It's been over a week. I hope somebody comes forward with some sort of leads to at least give his family some peace hoping he is still with us or not. Someone knows something. Maybe there should be an award offered for any information ❤️

His "friends" and "brothers" watched him get that drunk - when he was kicked out of the bar, they were more interested in remaining in the place, having a good time, than they were in looking out and taking care of their friend.
My daughter is at Vanderbilt and all of her friends live off campus near Broadway Street. This was Vanderbilt’s spring break and almost all the students were away. They all are keeping an eye out for this young man. I feel so bad for the parents. Saying prayers

The way I see it, he WAS as victim of a crime - the way that bar threw him out in such bad shape with no help, no friend, no ride. So tragic. Hope he's found soon!!
I agree phone records and camera footage first thing should have already been reviewed and phone records regarding a person missing in bad shape always gets priority they could even tell you over the phone themselves the companies can if you are law e forcement there is zero wait to retrieve those phone pings so WTF is really going on lazy cops who didn't give a crap because this family must not be wealthy you better believe if this kid came from a rich family they would have located him already this is taking too long horrible police work investigation really more like a wait and see what happens. One thing I know for sure is that there will be a lawsuit against the bar. There is legal precedent as people have successfully sued bars for not calling an uber or taxi for an intoxicated individual and instead just kicked them out and bad things happened to them.

Maybe, and now this is just a mere suggestion, so hear me out on this...maybe, since you have such extensive experience and expertise in search and rescue operations, you should volunteer your services and find this young man, so that you can show the world what these departments have been doing wrong all along. Maybe even from right at the beginning. You can also start reminding the public at large, to not drink more than the 2 drinks necessary to get them buzzed, so that they never get drunk, and this not happen ever again. This poor kid had a rough night, it's heartbreaking to watch, him walking alone lost vulnerable and then hitting his head there were people in cars watching this kid fall and then the crowd walking past him, nashville people are this way, if there was a murd*er happening in front of them, they'd keep walking, no see something say something here...truth

As a Nashville resident I can say that the Broadway area no longer belongs to residents. I doubt that "Nashville people" were in the area. That changed a few years ago, the area brings in tourism. Local people may go for sports events, music events, special things but basically the only "Nashville people" that frequent the area do so for employment.

This police department waited way too long. If highly trained dogs were sent out within in 24 hrs, they would have picked up on his scent, even to the river.

There is the rule of 3's of survival and demise... "3 minutes without air, 3 days without water, 3 weeks without food." If he is out there alone, unconscious, brain injury (due to how he hit that concrete pole) it's been over 3 days without water. It's now been what? 8 days? I don't want to think the worse of course. Curious to those in the area (I am in Illinois) is there junk yards near the area Riley was walking? Or within a couple of miles? Please don't come at me - but I get feelings about things. I keep seeing a junk yard where vehicles are at. OR it's an abandoned building right by a junk yard. There are small groups of people OR a couple, that spike drinks making the person vulnerable. And the sole purpose is to rob them. By Riley being kicked out of that bar, alone, then he walked the streets, alone, he became a target. On TikTok it shows a white van following Riley. For some reason the main stream media won't show this. I do hope Riley is found alive. My heart goes out to his family. ♥
I live in this area of Nashville -It has gotten ridiculously stupid here! people get so drunk. It’s embarrassing to live here not to mention the fact that you cannot go into a bar without worrying about getting drugged. It has happened now for many years in Nashville. And I blame our government for not putting more restrictions. They’re just all about making money ! So many things don't add up. What about his behavior was different than his friends that the bar asked him only to leave and not the group? Why didn't the bar or his friend call him an Uber? He was an out of town visitor. If he truly seemed compromised, it was negligence to let him leave on his own. His mother talked to him right before, does she know the fraternity brothers with him by name and had the son told her about them? A.true fraternity sticks together and since they came as a group would leave as a group unless the drugged him as part of hazing. Everyone knows that a young out of town visitor, is open prey. He seemed like an unassuming person who was simply taken advantage of. This is the 21st century absolutely no one can be this naiive or negligent to let someone who seemed inebriated to leave on his own in a strange town. Why wouldn't the friends insist he take an Uber if he didn't seem okay under his own mind.

Since the bar admitted to over serving him they should've either got ahold of one if his friends or called him a cab back to his hotel. This could've been avoided if the workers at Luke Bryan's bar did something different this young man's family could still have him around. I have a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that when you watch the video when Riely first leaves Luke's Bar and he's running down 3rd street I believe it is and he fell.....he was running perfectly for an extremely impaired person.....I'm wondering if he had hit his head when he fell....that fall took him a minute to get up from. He almost looked like that hit had knocked him out briefly at first too, maybe it may have caused the staggered movement from that point on in the rest of his videos ?? Idk. Just by the way he was staggering and tripping over his own feet after that fall just walking, but just prior he had no problem running when he first left the bar.... Does that make sense? I'm thinking he could have been tipsy when he got kicked out, but I'm wondering if that fall created a head injury of some kind that caused some coordination issues making him look like he was completely impaired. This is just my opinion.....I just can't stop thinking about how perfectly he was running at first for someone that's supposed to be that messed up, he couldn't even walk after that point, but started off running and looking pretty stable on his feet at that point too. I just can't stop thinking about that. IMO....
The SGT talks about his phone and Apple watch both going down around 945pm and says maybe they weren't charged or he turned them off but fails to mention maybe they both got soaking wet from going into the river. I think everyone knows it's the most likely outcome unfortunately

He probably didn't give his shirt up willingly. And they were frat brothers to begin with so you never leave a brother behind and every one of them did so also getting back to the motel and seeing that he was not there should have been some kind of indication that something was wrong and should have called the police immediately but they probably passed out and still in the morning realized he wasn't there and then what is that when they reported him when they woke up the next day and realized he wasn't there that some kind of frat brother huh there you go if anybody wants to be frat brothers make sure you're in with some good ones if not then I would not want to be in a fraternity. I would disagree this is not 'foul play.' In the event his shirt was on a homeless guy, he was likely robbed and possibly left dead. He reportedly rolled through TWO homeless encampments. I live in Los Angeles. I would NEVER go to any encampment. I had to park once in front of a single tent. Some creepy guy came out and started leering and saying random things. Sadly, he was not in his right mind (maybe drugs, maybe mental illness, maybe both). I don't trust that if they are bipolar that they are not going to turn and whip out a knife so, I carry. I feel better this way. I don't think this guy had a weapon. I think this is more likely. I hope the lady that was volunteering to feed the homeless contacted LE. She noticed a dirty man with a crisp clean shirt that resembled the one on this guy. How about you follow-up on that!

Homeless people proliferate Downtown Nashville. Family members were visiting two years ago, and I showed them Downtown. We didn't feel safe at all. I feel sorry for him and his family.
River, homeless camp, or someone saw him in the state he was in and targeted him. What was this interaction on bodycam mentioned? (Do they have bodycam, location of patrol unit from that moment until he "dropped off"?)

One of the initial posts said his friends found Riley’s hotel room key card in the room when they returned. Guessing Hotel had on-site cameras. Was he seen returning to hotel or did he just not leave the room with his key card earlier in evening?

He had a police man who could have helped him and he chose not to ask for help, just a few minutes later he was in the water. It's incredible how it was right there so simple. Hopefully this will be a learning experience for others to perhaps ask for help when it presents itself before you. I'm glad he was not part of foul play, he sounds like a good lad.

One thing I know for sure is that there will be a lawsuit against the bar. There is legal precedent as people have successfully sued bars for not calling an uber or taxi for an intoxicated individual and instead just kicked them out and bad things happened to them.

As a Nashville resident I can say that the Broadway area no longer belongs to residents. I doubt that "Nashville people" were in the area. That changed a few years ago, the area brings in tourism. Local people may go for sports events, music events, special things but basically the only "Nashville people" that frequent the area do so for employment.

There is the rule of 3's of survival and demise... "3 minutes without air, 3 days without water, 3 weeks without food." If he is out there alone, unconscious, brain injury (due to how he hit that concrete pole) it's been over 3 days without water. It's now been what? 8 days? I don't want to think the worse of course. So many things don't add up. What about his behavior was different than his friends that the bar asked him only to leave and not the group? Why didn't the bar or his friend call him an Uber? He was an out of town visitor. If he truly seemed compromised, it was negligence to let him leave on his own. His mother talked to him right before, does she know the fraternity brothers with him by name and had the son told her about them? A.true fraternity sticks together and since they came as a group would leave as a group unless the drugged him as part of hazing. Everyone knows that a young out of town visitor, is open prey. He seemed like an unassuming person who was simply taken advantage of. This is the 21st century absolutely no one can be this naiive or negligent to let someone who seemed inebriated to leave on his own in a strange town. Why wouldn't the friends insist he take an Uber if he didn't seem okay under his own mind.

Since the bar admitted to over serving him they should've either got ahold of one if his friends or called him a cab back to his hotel. This could've been avoided if the workers at Luke Bryan's bar did something different this young man's family could still have him around. I have a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that when you watch the video when Riely first leaves Luke's Bar and he's running down 3rd street I believe it is and he fell.....he was running perfectly for an extremely impaired person.....I'm wondering if he had hit his head when he fell....that fall took him a minute to get up from. He almost looked like that hit had knocked him out briefly at first too, maybe it may have caused the staggered movement from that point on in the rest of his videos ?? Idk. Just by the way he was staggering and tripping over his own feet after that fall just walking, but just prior he had no problem running when he first left the bar.... Does that make sense? I'm thinking he could have been tipsy when he got kicked out, but I'm wondering if that fall created a head injury of some kind that caused some coordination issues making him look like he was completely impaired. This is just my opinion.....I just can't stop thinking about how perfectly he was running at first for someone that's supposed to be that messed up, he couldn't even walk after that point, but started off running and looking pretty stable on his feet at that point too. I just can't stop thinking about that. IMO....

I would disagree this is not 'foul play.' In the event his shirt was on a homeless guy, he was likely robbed and possibly left dead. He reportedly rolled through TWO homeless encampments. I live in Los Angeles. I would NEVER go to any encampment. I had to park once in front of a single tent. Some creepy guy came out and started leering and saying random things. Sadly, he was not in his right mind (maybe drugs, maybe mental illness, maybe both). I don't trust that if they are bipolar that they are not going to turn and whip out a knife so, I carry. I feel better this way. I don't think this guy had a weapon. I think this is more likely.

Homeless people proliferate Downtown Nashville. Family members were visiting two years ago, and I showed them Downtown. We didn't feel safe at all. I feel sorry for him and his family.
