styling update certainly brings it into the modern era. I still wouldn't buy one but it's scary how quick Chinese cars have come in a short period of time
Great videos mate, just can't bring myself to buying one of these. I feel like they creep in price with other established car makers despite being here for 5 Mins. Look at the Haval H6 GT. Nearly $50k for the top of the range one is a joke.
Thanks. Yep, I can understand that. For me, if it's cheap then some areas are forgivable. Like with this, it starts from only $33,990 drive-away for the entry Vibe. That's pretty darn cheap for this segment. Don't expect much back at resale though.
Good honest review again. From your initial walkaround.... First thing I noticed. Petrol cap was not well aligned against the rest of the panel. It looks it does not sit flush. Secondly the poor paint mis-match of the rear bumper with the rest of the car. Inside, the drivers screen doesn't look centred and sits to the left of the steering wheel - OCD triggers galore! I feel the attention to detail is not as good as it could be.

@@drivingenthusiastaustralia it's a really good all rounder. In city driving you can easily get close to the claimed 4.2L/100km fuel effeciency on a regular basis.
Interesting they’ve actually developed their own engine for this. The old one had GM-SAIC engines, same family as what was used in the last of the 1.4L turbo Astras. And a variable geometry turbo! Very rare in a petrol engine, that was exclusive to Porsche only a couple of years ago. Still wouldn’t buy one.
The Assistance tech should be easy to turn off like push and hold one button to acces assitance tech and disable it is extremely annoying, frustrating and dangerous to go looking for it in menus each time... 14:00 face occluded performance degraded are you kidding me... 😅
Lol, yeah I don't know. A bit weird. The engine felt the same though. I did a few runs off-camera with the Vbox and it seemed to offer consistent performance.
@@drivingenthusiastaustralia I’ve spent a lot of time working with Chinese OEMs tuning ADAS systems, so I’ve become used to the sometimes odd wording in these cars
Looks better than the old one but there's just something about it that seems underdone... And the idea of a Chinese DCT (wet clutch or not) is faintly terrifying. "Face Occluded - performance reduced"... Would make me so cross if my car flashed up a message like that haha By the way, am I the only one that hates digital tachos?
Yeah the new wet DCT offers heaps better response than the old setup, but you're right. It's probably gone too far the other way by engaging too quickly. At the end of the day I don't think regular SUVs like this should have a dual-clutch gearbox in the first place. They are great for performance but a normal torque converter system is way smoother and better suited to this style of vehicle in my opinion.
@@drivingenthusiastaustralia - even a CVT would be better than dual clutch even if its wet design style one. Actually a CVT with that type of turbo lag from the engine would be way smoother.
Gees our Sydney roads especially where you in Mascot heading east then north on Dowling / Eastern Distributor are absolute shit, even North Sydney (luna park) road is crap, then heading back to Mascot down Lauchlan St (where Toyota dealership is) yeesh, I travel on those roads most days and yeah yeesh. As for this car, dual clutch? even wet design? no thanks. Look at how much turbo lag there is from that awful 1.5L turbo petrol, guess SAIC still cant figure it out.
Thanks for the review 👍. Just my opinion only, i would personally stay away from front wheel drive SUV's, especially one with a turbo. Naturally aspirated front wheel drive SUV's are bad enough with traction on acceleration (in the wet forget it). Even naturally aspirated all wheel drive SUV's are far superior in my opinion. Maybe i just have a heavy right foot 🦶🙂
Where’s the harm? They confirmed in all reviews that the DCT is a huge improvement from the last gen. If your concern is with the transmission’s reliability, who cares!? It’s a 10 year warranty.
@@HandsomeBeef10 years is maybe for some light bulb. but not for all components. it is a consumable part and there is probably a 1-2 year warranty on it. and if something happens they will say that you drove badly and that is why it broke down earlier.
