The arm angle thing is spot on in terms of tipping pitches. I had that problem and was never able to correct it effectively. Better to learn it the right way than have to fix bad habits! Great video!
Hey Coach Justin my name is Massoud Beardsley and I’m a college player and I haven’t played in the last two years due to the pandemic and I’m always willing to learn new things so thank you for teaching me how to throw a curveball! How hard is it being a pitcher in college?
Yep, don't think you want the ball facing 2nd or CF. Or the drill ball to the wall is not right. Always was told by higher up guys ball should face 3rd not 2nd. Dont early pronate
man i was a good fast ball pitcher and now i think i have the curve ball thing down i have been practicing with my dad too and its nice to know that now i know how not to get injured thanks.
That's what he says but it's not true. Look up articles about the maximum velocity for a fastball. Basically, just the force from throwing a fastball the max that your body is capable of tearing your tommy john ligament. Just a fastball can tear that. Curveballs were easier on my arm cuz I just "pulled down a curtain" with my curveball motion. Simple and fluid.. just like a fastball.
@@thegoldenmaniac872 I'm a shortstop lol. But occasionally they put me in to pitch since my arm is the most durable on the team. If I didn't pitch with everything I had, I could easily go all 9 innings. Plus I'm a lefty, so it throws the hitters off

This is just like the 5 other curveball videos I saw, as he never actually explain how to get the ball to spin correctly. Can someone please explain how, or send a video that explains it.
When I was a kid, I think 12 my dad refused to teach me how to throw a breaking ball because he said it would mess up my elbow. Throughout that season he didn't know one of my buddies taught me "behind closed doors" if you will to throw it. Well one night we had a game at our home diamond and dad was the umpire. Late in my pitching session we were way ahead of the other team so I decided I was going to throw one thinking dad might chew my ass if I mess it up but if I get a strike maybe he won't be mad. WRONG! At the end of that inning I was walking off the mound and dad was walking to me and stopped me. He said "that was a good breaking ball on the corner but don't you ever let me see you do that again, do you understand me? " 😳 I always wondered if that was true about kids throwing those at a young age or if that was just a myth but 31 years later the experts seem to think dad was right lol
Nice video, Also, something to help is when you bring your arm forward for the throwing motion, if you are a righty, I really focus on as I come through my release point bringing my right elbow down to my left knee. It increases my spin rate without having to "snap" my wrist and the physics of how the ball rolls off the INSIDE of my middle finger puts more spin on the ball with less strain on my arm. Its also much easier to control IMO.
Basics for throwing a curve ball is this. You throw it and have the motions of a fastball. It is all about your fingers on the seam of a ball, and snapping down your hand when you throw the ball!
Thanks, I've never had it explained to me the right way to throw a curve. Could you also show how some of the other pitched are thrown? And, what the action of the ball will be when it reaches the plate. Slurve, curve, slider, sinker, knuckler, etc. doesn't exactly describe the path of the ball, or the different velocities of each pitch.
Thanks bro, great info. I have a 8 year old that is struggling to learn proper throwing mechanics in general. Do you have any videos on kids learning to throw a baseball?
I once threw a curve ball that was in the middle than went down and all the way to the left I was 11 when I did that I’m 12 now I can still throw a good curve
For every 12-13 year old kids starting to throw curve balls...at your age throwing a curveball will most likely end up going good for you at your age. So you will want to throw them over and over. You will get addicted to throwing them. But this is a problem. Some kids relise they can striker any kid out now.... this makes them abuse the power and throw them not stop.. eventually when you get to high school your arm will be done and no more baseball.... so basically I’m saying with great power comes with great responsibility.. it’s crazy at 12 years old could change your whole career... hope this helps
So I'm only twelve and I watched a vid on how to throw a "slur" and now when I try to thro a curveball it curves to the outside is that good? If not can I have Some tips?

Really you need control and speed
Isn't that premature pronation that you point your ball at second base when you try to throw a fastball?

Yes, go to college in America
