- With a shock to many, Haley was eliminated. For her swan song she reprised her popular "Bennie and the Jets" performance from Elton John week (Top 11 part 2 - Mar 30). When she steped down to the judges table, Haley changed the lyrics to "Say, Randy & J.Lo have you seen them yet?..."
The song was composed by Elton John and Bernie Taupin, and first appeared on the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album in 1973. "Bennie and the Jets" has been one of John's most popular songs. Elton John was set against releasing "Bennie and the Jets" on side one of the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album, and was against releasing it as a single, believing it would fail. The song peaked at #1 on the US singles charts in 1974. It was also John's first Top 40 hit on the R&B charts, going to #1 there as well.
Axl Rose, of Guns N' Roses, has stated it was listening to "Bennie and the Jets" that inspired him to become a singer. He would later perform alongside Elton John at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert.

She went out with class and sass!!! And look at thejoy and pride and joy she has as she sings her swan song. Such strength courage and mad vocals.. I respect that she didn't cry and do the weepy stuff that is so annoying. Class ACT, Haley!

I loved this performance of hers. It was the biggest, sweetest most epic F you for all the time the judges (Randy and J-Lo) criticized her unjustly. She was smart, sexy and a phenomenal singer, she knew and that’s why they didn’t like her. She was the queen and real winner in my opinion.
I just love how the contestants that dont win idol turn out to be more famous than the person who won...

+Sharon De leon Except Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and to a lesser extent, Jordin Sparks. Unfortunately it's usually a popularity contest, not a singing/music contest. I'm making some generalisations here, but it seems like the male winners never do well after the show because they only got all the 'he's hot!' votes from teenage girls. The same girls who vote for guys like Nick Fraidiani buy pop or r&b music in everyday life, not country, acoustic or pop/rock.
I know a lady who's son is in the industry and she tells me that shows like these usually have the winners in 2+ year contracts in which they sing only what they are given and they cannot be involved in other projects in relation to music or even acting. So perhaps these winners are limited to what they can do with their talent.
If anything, I'm happy she lost she is so successful now with Post Modern Jukebox
Funny never hear her on the radio. I think her relationship with the judges was contentious at best. Great voice but her attitude sucks, glad she was eliminated. Out of the 3 I think Lauren Alaina gets more air play.
@@JohnMarra lol funny you said that, her cover with modern jukebox "creep" was trending a year ago. She gave memorable performances in that season .
it's 2013, and this still remains the best exit performance to date. perhaps even better than some performances in the competition now.

I still go back to this performance from time to time. What a slap to those 2 judges and the other 2 contestants. I loved how she gave Steven a thumbs up, we all know Steven fought for her and she knows it.
Okay, so we all know Haley has the best vocals, but she's also the best performer. She feels every lyric she belts out, & not to mention those moves. DAYUUMMM.

If you've read/seen her post-elimination interviews, Haley said she was the one who came up with the arrangement for this performance. My love for her and this performance just doubled. You are awesome Haley.

This performance is such a mood for ending 2020: I lost an amazing internship at Disney to the pandemic, but I got chosen for a wonderful job at University of Kansas Medical Center in November. Sorrowful but always rejoicing... like Haley I’m saying “it ain’t the end of this thing!” What an inspiring queen, God bless and take care y’all xD

I really don't understand how could that guy that i don't even remember his name win this season, with talents like Haley, James, Jacob, Casey and Pia. They were just amazing. All of them were better singers and entertainers.

It was great adding those clips of other of her performances on at the end. It really emphasises her huge, wide-ranging talent which so outshone all the other contestants.
And if the contestants had decided the winner, I'm pretty sure Haley would have won quite easily. They would have understood her exceptional talent.
This performance makes me want to grin and sob uncontrollably at the same time. Haley is amazing, and she will go very far. I'll be the first to buy her album!
Best moment for me in American Idol's 15 seasons ... plenty of other great ones, but this defines VICTORY ... slightly ironic that she was eliminated. .but coming in 3rd in a teen popularity contest aint much different than first in my book.

Very nIce video, picked it up from Idolheaded top 35 performances for Season 10, Part 1, which were all Haley performances. No tears from Haley, she was surprised for a moment, then gave Lauren the hug and then gave a great farewell performance. She was even creative enough to have some fun with the judges too...couldn't agree more with the "so spaced out" award to Randy & JLo. Can't ever remember a season on Idol where 2 judges were such cheerleaders for "their" contestants.

Oh man, I never liked and enjoyed American Idol as much as I did this season only because of Haley Reinhart. Not just that, I became obsessed. As for performances, voice, personality, musicality, stage presence, Haley is just the best thing for me coming from this show. If it weren't for her I would have given a crap about this season the moment it ended, but instead here I am rewatching her videos over and over.
i love the little montage at the end that you put together. I really wanted her to go all the way. She was amazingly talented and entertaining to watch. Will miss her.
Haley is such a sweetheart and so much fun to watch...I love her. That was great to see her with her parents and all the contestants in the audience. I don't think I'm the only one who will buy any album she makes.....I don't know what the contract says but the further from Idol she gets, the better.
I am by no means watching the finale. Haley was the entire package; she was beautiful, talented, and a perfect vocalist. It's really a shame to see her go especially considering who's left. Unfortunately, she was always the underdog, so it's fantastic how far she was able to get, but i still wished she won! I will personally support her career, and I hope she rises to the top. After-all, she was my favourite artist from the whole series of American Idol.

That night American Idol became Country Idol.
She was my personal favorite, but I didn't really expect her to win. I expected James to win. Lauren's a sweet girl & can sing, but she just didn't stand out like some of the others did in my eyes. Lauren herself said that she was a fan of Haley.
till today, i still can believe she was eliminated after this superb and flawless performance.. urghhh! its ok neway, haley is a rising star today..

She said in various interviews afterward that she went through a whole range of emotions (from her initial shock and disbelief to acceptance and finally resolving to 'go out with a bang' rather than break down into a emotional wreck like many others) in about 15 seconds. But after that she was alright and gave the best 'swan song' of the season if not the history of American Idol. The call-out to the judges and improv at the end were great flourishes. Thank you jazz school!

Lauren and Scotty have a 'big' voice.. but Haley has everything in terms of showmanship and she's the type of perfomer who really enjoys herself on stage and we as the audience could feel it. That makes her a true 'performer' of the entire competition

Watching in 2018 and still obsessed. Honestly I’m not even that mad she didn’t win. I live in Nashville and haven’t heard the name “Scotty McCreary” in recent years(actually Lauren’s been pretty successful- good for her). Haley, however has been grinding like hell and it’s gonna pay off soon for sure. Her talent is beyond- she’s amazing.
Her problem hasn't anything to do with grinding. It has to do with the fact that she has been refusing for years to sign a record deal with a major record label and even though all of them have been desperately trying to sign her for years.
WOW! that performance was the best, usually when people get voted off they get mad and don't do good. She did amazing and didn't give a care. She rocked that stage. And she even acts like a professionall going in the crowd and singing to everyone
