Yes, she is an essential part of helping and monitoring athletes' mental and emotional situations like what she did to Caloy. Being an athlete is not just about physical strength, but mental and emotional strength as well. These should be in harmony and in tune altogether to achieve a winning formula.

She is nothing more than a sports therapist. In the hierarchy of things that contributed to Caloy's win, she wont even make it the top 5. She is only getting all this attention because she is attractive. News agencies want her on tv because she generates viewership. Its obvious.
Her job is very important. I recall d japanese coach kept insisiting that carlos don't have d right mindset. I watch d documentary of carlos when he was living and training in Japan he looked depressed and not very motivated and coach kept said he is not motivated and not the right mind set. So absolutely Hazel played vital Role in Caloys success. Holistic approach is very beneficial to Caloy.
All the athletes has so much pressure..i think Michael Phelps had depression too dispite too many medals so im happy that mental health is high light here as essential part of an athletes life. Very good!
Yes… he would his mind is not strong, or he already idolize gymnasts but not see him as one of them. Good analysis but it took a Filipina approach - soft, sweet, kind, caring, careful with her words, not loud, very respectful. She is so beautiful, too. She is already very, very popular. Because you can compare how caloy did in Tokyo Olympic when he disagreed with his coach about his girlfriend. The coach proved himself right because he didn’t perform well o. Tokyo but was able to live his personal life - no medal. Hazel worked with his kind, body, and soul despite having his personal life lurking around. Her training him was so strong that he got 2 gold medals.

For EVERY athlete who will compete internationally, you need an entire team of a skills coach, a physiotherapist, an occupational therapist, a psychologist, a nutritionist, trainers, equipment managers, Cynthia Carrion is Carlos Yulo's National sports authority, head ng gymnasts philippines. Her job is to find the money for the training of athletes. You will need that entire team to win a medal, not just one person.

Yes, a sports therapist can contribute to a medal win, but you can replace her with any sports therapist and Caloy will still win. She is famous because she is attractive, and the news outlets want her on their shows because she generates views, but without her, Caloy is still winning those 2 medals.

It’s amazing that an Occupational Therapist in sports setting was able to formulate this kind of program. OT’s have distinct talent in Psychology and once you combine that with anatomy, kinesiology, biomechanics and physiology then you will have a holistic approach for a medal in any sports. She is doing an amazing work. 😊

Grabe din talaga naging transformation ni Caloy. Napanood ko mga interviews nya 5 years ago and parang takot na takot sya palagi magsalita. But now he has bloomed na talaga, mas confident na at mas lalo talaga sya gumaling sa gymnastics

Muscles like a metal than can do all the stunts, and yes his strict diet etc.
Hopefully she will be the coach also for Eldrew Yulo as have watched his performances via RUclips and the sports commentator said that Eldrew is even better than Caloy like we can see the potential there and the Yulo siblings dominating the Philippine gymnastics! For sure their parents are super proud and happy about them so great job to their parents that supports their children’s dreams!

Mental wellness is something that Carlos team has been trying not only to build and strengthen but also, most importantly to shield it from outside distractions like family squabbles which his Mom and many people from social media who are uninitiated expectedly do not understand at all. Carlos will be leaving again in a few months for further training. Thus, the whole team including Cynthia Carreon is so protective of their ward. It took them years to mold him not only physically but mentally. Therefore, they cannot afford to have it ruined by petty tantrums of his Mom who obviously even wished that Caloy would fail last 2024 olympics.
