SixxDaze, Mohammed Ali once stated, "Those who do not understand the meaning of friendship, know nothing." Truer words were never spoken. This beautiful and heartfelt lyrical tribute by Miku to her bandmates really touches my heart. Thank you Mike Einzinger fro composing the music to "Besties" and for your input to the recording of the song. Kudos to all the Maids for their musical, lyrical, and vocal excellence. This is a "gem" and I agree with you SixxDaze that this song should get a lot more exposure in the U.S. and the rest of the world.

Yes, Miku wrote ALL OF IT in English. Kobato Miku has this amazing talent for creating puns and double entendre, especially when transitioning between English and Japanese. Many don't notice it unless they're bilingual or curious enough to seek out translations or use the closed captions. Her her puns aren't intended as humor, but to amplify her message. The same with her double entendre, which others too often use as off color humor; Miku uses them to add layers of meaning into her lyrics. "Bestie" reminds me of their song "Smile".
Hi Ya Bob, well said, as for direction, no shade at the Maids but it's like me walking home after a big session at my local pub, no idea which way I'll go 😄 and that's fine, one of the glorious things about BAND-MAID is they charter their own course, quite like the delightfully musically eccentric Frank Zappa. Like musicians everywhere these ladies place their musical careers and personal livelihoods on the line with each of their offerings, so more power to them. A warm hug of a song Po. Cheers from Oz 👍🍻
I love MISA's playing... and Akane's... and Kanami's... and the recording is good, too! Miku's lyrics are heartfelt. "I can't look into your eyes." Is Saiki her bestie? But Saiki masterfully delivers her lyrics, as always. BTW - The volume of lyrics and nuanced melodies she's committed to memory over the years is simply mind-blowing! Mikey did good at giving them his direction for the song, and probably helped with the English lyrics -- a good growth for Miku's craft. I don't understand why Kanami said she couldn't have come up with the main riff. Probably just her being super polite, as usual. I like the groove and feel of the song. I was waiting for, "I don't give a f**k" at the end. But maybe with these particular "Bestie" lyrics, that wouldn't be such a good idea. Even though at first listen it felt on par with Start Over It will undoubtedly do what every Band-Maid song does -- grow on you! Got to break through to the mainstream market with a few cuts, right? Hopefully Bestie helps with that! Thx, Band-Maid! And thanks, Bob!
When my partner of 24 years passed away..NONE of my "best friends" came to support me.."Friends" I've know for over 40 years..not one came to support...Yesterday was my birthday..I spent it alone...as I have now for years...The only birthday wishes I got were from websites I have not visited for many years..automated emails...It's a good song..better than I expected as it's a collab....But the sentiment is lost on me.
First and foremost, I am very sorry for your loss. That is so sad. Happy Belated Birthday. I have some “friends” like that, they’re acquaintances really. Fortunately, for me, I prefer being alone.
Wow, I am really sorry to hear of your experience. Please believe that real friends can exist. I believe Miku really wrote this from her heart and that the band members have become real friends. I hope someday you find one.
@@Bodneyblue your welcome and please go talk to people, be yourself and hopefully you will find the kind of friend Miku wrote about. They are rare but they do exist.

My mom and grandma met him when he ate at our family restaurant in Hawaii. He was nothing but a gentleman!
Can't wait for a live performance of this song
Yeah, I think the live performance will be even better.
Groovin and cruisin on a summer afternoon
For sure! 😎👍
