BAND-MAID and Mike Einziger first met at music festival Pointfest 2023, and agree on creating song together. And in early 2024, Mike came to Japan and when into studio together with BAND-MAID, where they came up with basic music through joint sessions.
Newest music video “Protect You” is ending theme for a TV anime “Grendizer U”, is more into your face kind of song.
Also new live video will be released in 4.5 hours from now.

While, "Bestie" is a departure from Band-Maid's normal hard rock sound, this video is a gem. Beautiful in all its facets with beautiful outfits, beautiful hairdos, beautiful scenery, beautiful music, and beautiful heartfelt lyrics penned by Miku to her bandmates (her besties). The video is not only beautiful, it's ethereal, even angelic. This music video really show the band's talent and versatility as musicians.

Bestie isn't a departure any more than Daydreaming, Anemone, About Us, or Memorable are.

Interesting! I haven’t returned to Bestie since, I’ll have to give it another few spins to see if it grows on me.

It's really amazing i can't name two songs that sound the same from Band-Maid . They have been my favorite band for four year now =) Of course i haven't listened to all their albums yet ! I'm enjoying the live performances mostly . Nice Reaction James

A really great collaboration! Angel-Maid! Music by Mikey-Chan, lyrics by Kobato(her first in all English!), fashion by Saiki! The latest two are "Magie" and "Protect You", btw.

    From Japan
Considering BAND-MAID's fast and technical songs, this song may be unsatisfactory. However, when it is sung during a 2 hour and 30 minute 23 song live performance, it is a great moment and makes the live performance even more dramatic. When you listen to each instrument, you can hear the effort they put into making this song great.
Their latest song, Protect You, is high-speed BAND-MAID hard rock. And the live song that will be delivered after 4 hours should be a great song.

I love the idea that they are open to all ” music genre” for me it tells how great their musicianship is. Always ready to search New challenges. I think this is great song. And of course Kanami’s solo is pure fire 🔥❤️
Imo..lyrics tell their( band members) story as a band and as a close friends in last 11years. Love it ❤️ Lovin’ Band-Maid 🔥

Hi James! Mike Einziger helped write the guitar riffs. The opening/ending riff was definitely his. This is their third track sung totally in English, the others are "Don't Let Me Down" (beware filthy lyrics)! and "The Dragon Cries".

    "Safe"
Well, they wanted to write a love song to each other, so... you're going to get something like this, right? Yeah, they can push limits on other songs, but do they have to do so on every track? I think it's OK to have a lighter one here and there. Not just OK, but shows some maturity in terms of not having to show off on every single track. This one is just well-designed to deliver the feel that they're trying to convey.
    Thanks for the reaction!

I really appreciate your honest yet sensative way of handling this reaction. A lot of content creators could learn a thing or two from you.
Because there is clearly a way of saying something isn't for you while still understanding what the artist was attempting to accomplish and still be respectful to the piece and the fans who do enjoy it.
A lot of reactors and even people witin the Band-Maid community went around huffing puffing and stomping their feet, trying to Yuck everyone else's Yum because they don't get Warning ( the song not the band ) part II.
**Addendum - pretty accurate takes on the possible messaging of the song. Miku is notorious for having implied double meanings within her lyrics.
Also you may want to slide back into their discography for harder more aggressive works. Songs written during the pandemic from the Unseen World album, Sense Single and Unleash EP have more of an edge to them as they were born out of the frustration and disappointment brought about by the pandemic.
Kanami's head is in a much happier place now and her writing is reflective of that in her newer works being more up tempo and brighter in general. Magie, Brightest Star, Bestie, Protect You ect...

I found this song gets more interesting with multiple listens... check out the latest song "Protect You", I think it would be a better fit for what you enjoy. Band-Maid does a little of everything :). Thanks for the reaction.

You could really shorten your comments. By the time you were done with your first comment and restarted the song I forgot what we were listening to.
After my first listen I thought ...Meh. But the more I listen and watch musician reactors break down the writing then the more it grows on me to the point where it turned into a GREAT song. There are lot of songs I never liked at first listen from many bands in my MANY years of listening. Keep after this one and I bet it turns into a favorite.
