It's not a secret that Mizuno makes some of the best football boots money can buy! With that said, the brand's incredible quality comes at a cost, and when talking about the MIJ Mizuno Morelia Neo Beta, that cost is high. Very high. $320 high.
Are they still amazing football boots in 2022, absolutely! But are the worth at least $50 to $120 more than all of the new boots in the "speed" category that are now available? Well, I'm not so sure. We discuss what's still great about the Neo 3 Beta, but also why they might not be the no brainer choice that they once were. Do you think the $320 price tag is still justified?

I do not know, if it is not broken, do not fix it. Given the choice, if i spent full retail, i would prefer these over any other speedboot on the market
As a casual Sunday league football player for the past 20+ years... I'd say lotto zhero laggenda, adizero f50 leather AND the Morelia neo beta MIJ are the best boots I've worn.
While we’re talking about stud patterns, I’d love to see them bring the AG stud pattern to the top end versions. They offer it on the ~$120 version, might as well offer it on this too.
They do offer the AG variation in the Elite silos in Asia... but you are right, it should go global because it's an amazing stud pattern for artificial grass and hard ground.
@@gmolina do you have a link or a picture of this AG variation please ?
Because of the conical pattern ... i think it would be good on ag pitchs ...
Hence , no knee injuries !
Personally I love the niche Mizuno has gone for. Ironically doing what the top three brands are doing would make them less special. Mizuno boots were never made to be the most technologically advanced boots ever. Respectful I disagree and would argue that them continuing to perfect old school boots that represent build quality over anything else is the best route they can take. There’s nothing quite like an old fashioned leather pair of boots that feels so comfortable and natural, and there’s nothing quite like a Mizuno
Well said.
You've missed the point... it would seem
@@york9x19 care to elaborate?
@@york9x19 Point wasn't missed, it was elaborated on with a fantastic perspective that was logical and also most likely the case. If you care to disagree, provide your own logical perspective on what Mizuno is doing.
@@davidhill5988 You would still get a classic Mizuno with the classic Morelia, and I think Mizuno would seem to agree with John's perspective when they released the Alpha.
Idk if im considered an old head (29) but I am not a fan of "new tech" in the football industry. Perhaps its because I have such a wide foot but synthetic materials, flyknit and laceless are an abomination to me. I will always be wearing Mizuno or Tiempo legends
Dude i playing in italy (professionally), i have mizuno morelia 3 neo beta ELITE , i have tested Speedflow.1, Speedportal.1 , Vapor 15, Puma ultra 1.4 , and the models before like X Ghosted Vapor 14 13 ecc.. me and my teammates can for sure told you that this boot is out of this world , and i think you need to play with this boot on field for understand the fell and the outstanding performance of this cleats. After the break in, me and my teammates told each other that we find the perfect boots, in that moment i understand that all this years of wearing that synthetic material boots are wasted and i need to reccomend this boots to all the people, this words that you say is vanished once you try it.
Can play with the Morelia Neo KLII on Artificial Grass?
@@OuzRev ofc
@@Hem4L Thanks man i just ordered mine 🤝🏻
@@OuzRev good for all positions?
Boots by position is stupid so ofc good for all positions
I've been using Mizuno Morelia Neo III's the last 3 - 4 years and I wouldn't want to change to another brand/boot ever. I'm gonna use these ones until I quit footballing. Most comfortable boot out there for me, not heavy at all and great durability.
As some people said here as well, don't fix what isn't broken.
even on ag?
@@EnigmaticDealer even though it says fg it can be used on ag and hg. It says that in Japanese on the website
In Japan, the price of Vapo 15 is 29,700Yen (~223$) and the Morelia neo beta is 28,600Yen (~215$)
But in the US (Without TAX), the vapor is 250$ and BEta is 320$.
However, with 320$ price we get a "satisfied guarantee", which means we can try the Mizuno products in the match and return them in 1 month, and I think it's the best way for those who still wonder about buying MiJ Mizuno
They are £289 in England. We pay mostly for import tax. But its limited models in uk & europe. Asia get all the mizuno range. We don't get rebula here
@@socialjoins in UK I am not really sure, but in Europe I see Unisport still sell Rebula line @@ the only lines they dont sell in UK are Monarcida and some TF versions @@
Tbh if I'd be forking out for full price I'd be buying Mizuno or Asics all day long. I really can't be bothered with all this new tech and just want a reliable boot, granted the price tags are high compared to some other brands but you get what you pay for
Same, especially since most high end boots now like the superfly 8 are 275 retail, I’d rather pay about 50 more dollars for something more high quality and longer lasting, also since I’m not one of those people that switch boots every season lol
I don’t know about this one josh, simple & effective beats “new tech” in my book. Mizuno offer absolutely everything a footballer needs from a boot & some. Is the price high? yes. Is it “classic” in terms of build & tech? yes.
is it one of the best leather boots if not the best leather boot we’re gonna get? absolutely.
I’d like to see Mizuno try something like the carbon inserts that Adidas uses on their speed boots. I know Mizuno has used carbon on their boots in the past, but I don’t think they’ve used it how Adidas does, to provide that spring back on the sole plate.
Just imagining the build quality, comfort, and touch on the ball of their uppers, combined with the feedback of an Adidas style sole plate with their carbon inserts, that sounds like a dream boot to me🤤
I’m not sure how I feel about this take. The neos are the only top end speed boot with a quality leather upper. The sole plate is great BECAUSE it’s simple, the rounded studs give you the grip you need without being as dangerous as blades on ag pitches. “Spring back” doesn’t offer anything performance wise 99% of the time and I can speak from experience in saying the neos have a perfectly comfortable sole plate on both grass and ag. Right now I see it as the perfect remedy to a market that hypes up technology for the sake of buzz words.
I do agree that they’re a very stagnant brand but they should really pass on the R&D savings into lowering the price of these boots. Would be a lot more competitive if they sold at the same price as the big boys.
Agreed....Over 2 seasons, I tried the mercurial, the x speedflow top end boots, but ended up loving the performance of the morelias. As for spring back, its only slightly noticeable when running completely straight. I think the mizuno boot feels better when cutting and switching between vertical and lateral movements.
But I agree, a price drop would be great!
Totally agree with the studs pattern. It works perfect for me as a "speed player". I found the blade studs sometimes too agressive and it's not for AG.
The price in Japan is actually not expensive compare to Nike or Adidas' top end boots. It's about 150 USD or less. I don't know why the price bumps up so many on the international market.
Love your videos, i kinda agree when the price point is this high in US. But in some parts in asia especially here in Indonesia the price is very competitive for mij mizuno morellia neo 3 beta with 4 million idr, equivalent to about 272 usd, which is very similiar to other brands.
I got my pair on Thursday. And ordered morelia MIJ. I prefer comfort. Speed boots aint for me. The weakness of this boot is the insole comfort. Change it. Fits perfect everywhere else. You can get elites. For £180 less. I got cash and just wanted to see difference. So overpaid. The difference in models is like showroom car vs purchase car. The difference with MIJ & elites is MIJ has more leather padding, shiny/gloss leather and the shape and fit. If you buy MIJ it's exactly like the ad pictures . You buy the exact model advertised. The toebox is perfect. But if you go through boots just buy elites. I'm just stock piling. Theres only 1 boot i want the rivaldos wave cups. But I won't be buying boots for 5 years I'm hitting 6 pairs of mizuno's , elites ,pro's and 4 MIJ
I think this is very much what they're trying to pursue with the Alpha, with the Neo 3/Neo 3 Beta slotting perfectly in between the Alpha and the standard Morelia
10 Gramm for 10 times the durability… guess its worth it. Even the higher price is worth it cause of this fact. If you have to buy 2 Puma ultra because they break after 5 month you are cheaper with mizuno…
I respect this Josh for saying what you think - and largely I agree.
With the advances in the market over the past few months these really struggle to justify their cost. I hope they upgrade the soleplate but keep the studs conical personally…. And just decrease the price.
Great vid thanks 🔥
I just feel like all the brands are going backwards now. The 2010-2016 era of boots were the last of the elite boots
Josh… your pure grip socks are amazing, I just wanted to tell you that
I started to think that sometimes you need the mizuno elite version rather than the mij
Yes if you want to save money. You can get two elite models/colour way for MIJ price. Not much difference. If you damage boots quickly get elites. If you have the cash get MIJ.
I somewhat agree with Josh I’d like to see if mizuno are capable of making an improved version of the mizuno Morelia neo 3. Maybe a new soleplate and create a k-leather that’s high tech like Nike did with the tiempo legend 7.
I can somewhat agree to an extent that mizuno can do a lot more. You have to back to some 10-15 years ago you had some of the simple but effective tech. The wave ignitus.Morelia wave,Basara, rebula series,Morelia Neo 2 Beta and even their iconic Wave Cup are an example of what Mizuno can do. The price is where I do find it absurd given you got the Morelia Neo 3 aka Morelia Neo 3 classic which is the one I prefer or you got the less expensive elite models. But at the same time there’s things where I do agree cuz if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Mizuno has a niche market that it targets and I do some changes will lead to people complaining.
I have these, Superfly 8s and Adidas X.1 and I prefer the Superflys. These are super comfortable. Probably the most comfortable boot I ever wore. However once the leather molds and stretches they become too loose for my liking in the toebox.
Hello my good sir, I can suggest you can check out the Mizuno Monarcida Neo Japan Pro instead, and see what are the differences are. I tested the boots for about a week and I have already fallen in love with it, compared to the Nike Mercurial Elite that I have usually gone for, for like 4 years in a row
Nah these are the best boots Ive played in. Soft, light & super comfortable. All tho I preferred last years colour wave
When's the puma ultra ultimate review coming out?
still no puma ultra ultimate review??
Will/when (will) the Nike by you Mercurial Vapor 15 elite come out?
Whenever they set up a factory for it, probably in months
Tiempo legend 9 pro or Vapor 15 pro?
Hey Josh! I bought the mercurial vapor 13 tech craft (the one with flyknit overlayed with leather) and these are the best cleats I have ever owned. They fit like a mercurial with the touch of leather and it was amazing to play in. Since then I have not enjoyed playing in my normal vapor 13, they just don’t feel as good as the tech craft variant. Is there any shoe on the market that is similar to the tech craft version of the mercurial vapor 13 tech craft?
Josh I just found some brand new joma fit 100s, do u think that they are still confortable now says?
i don't understand. Yes the made in japan is too expensive, but the morelia neo 3 beta are almost the same boots at 200$. I don't see any competitor at this price !
They only have a big problem, the soleplate breaks very quickly on artificial grass ! i really wait an AG version
ordered myself a pair of Morelia's Neo 3 MIJ but you're not the first person to mention that the soleplate breaks on AG fields, now I am wondering whether I should have better bought the latest remake by Adidas in F50 Adizero - I had the original 2014 model and the hybridtouch lasted me 5 years of playing on AG and FG pitches - the Morelia's haven't arrived yet so might return them and get the F50 instead
@@MrDohotaru I just play 3 times on AG field, and they start to broke very quickly. I already buy glue to fix them, I never saw that ahaha
still the best boots on the market
Hey Josh, I've got a question about this specific model of mizuno, and it's about the size... I was using adidas, I had the adidas x speedflow+, and my size was 7 1/2, size US, and I'm about to buy them, but I've heard that these shoes should be bought half a size down, my feet are narrow I believe...
Do a review about FILA its very underrated
the fg pattern on the morelia is the best ngl but the price ist just tooooooo much
I think Mizuno should release new Morelia neo with new soleplate
New "technology" is just marketing and nothing else. I have tried the new puma, adidas and nike speedboots. They do not come even close to the feel and comfort of the neo bèta 3. I am also certain that the mizunos are way more durable than these plastic/synthetic boots from Nike, adidas and puma. Also from that perspective they are more than worth the money.
These are the lightest k-leather boots on the market right?
Disagree.
Do those soul plates you used to advertise work with the new air zoom tech on the mercurials?
when are they bringing back the scuba blue color way?
The Nike zoom air and the carbon fibre inserts aren’t new at all. What is the uppers.
Who impersonated you?!... lol
I just bought this yo why josh be doin me like this....
If you had to play a match for let’s say arsenal wich football shoes would you pick?
A carbon spring plate in these would go crazy but then it’s be $400 lol
They would never do that gladly
Has anyone got hold of the new Mizuno Alphas? I think they answer all the questioons about new stud patter and outsole..any chance of a review?
they r only 150 on the canadian website... is this legit?
Josh this is a Morelia not another line of mizuno. The most important aspects of football boots is comfortable, fit, lock down and traction.
Mizuno Morelia is rooted on the original mizuno Morelia (my personal favourite over these) having bladed studs doesn’t embody the line. They made other lines for what you call experimenting.
You buy a Morelia MIJ for build quality, unrivalled comfort and the longevity of the life if that boot. Mizuno MIJ boots are the bespoke shoes or suits of the footballing industry. You want a boot which has more experimental things but won’t last as long, won’t have better materials and the most most comfortable boots then mizuno as a brand isn’t for you.
What about the elite version?
PLEASE REVIEW THE PUMA ULTRA ULTIMATE
Is there puma future 1.4's?
Do the puma ultra
Isn't the comfort, simplicity and durability the reason people buy mizuno ? All this new tech will be outdated and replaced by the next gimmick . I bought 2 pairs of hypervenom 1s the touch and comfort is insane . Carbon fiber, rubber fins ,air zoom its all bullshit it does nothing to make you perform better
Exactamundo. They have a regular line mostly sold in Asia. They should experiment with that line. I'm good with iterations. If they find great material we will see it in classic line
Can you have a discount coupons for the elite 😭 pleaseeeeee😭😭🙏
I bought the nike mercurial superfly 9 academy fg/ag. Can someone tell me if there are good or not need answer
Err only you can answer this. Are they comfortable on your feet ?? That is the answer for everything else.
if you could wear any football boot for the rest of your life what would it be
puma ultra ultimate i think
the boots in the video or morelia 2's
ASICS DS light x-fly4
@@spitz-dog this is one of the boots I don’t have access to and want to try. What would you compare it to?
@@letterkeys4440 It's hard to describe, but it's similar to Morelia Neo 3. It's a traditional tongue, and it doesn't choose who wears it.
Ngl i miss a separate tongue ... i hate trying to fit my damn fat foot in these one piece footholes
