Hi Suni, Although tourists bring in much needed revenue to the country, the rights and comfort of the citizens should be a priority. No tourist or foreigner have more rights than the citizens in developed countries ie. USA, Canada etc. You should not be inhibited from having a place to park during the tourist season without being given an alternative. This is foolishness! Thanks for sharing. Good to see you up and about again. Continued blessings upon you and your family.❤‍🩹🙏

Right...there is no awareness that takes place really and that's what's confusing. Then it seems that the law enforcement officers are on different pages and are interpreting whatever it is differently. I was at the almond trees today and that came to light right before my eyes. ❤️🙏

When I was growing up in Bequia as a young boy, there were only 4 or 5 vehicles. Land Rover jeeps and one Volkswagen van belonging to Arthur Gooding. Bequia people walked everywhere they went. Where you are parked right now eating your roti is called Ocar Reform , not Hamilton. I was home in July and rented a vehicle for 21 days and could not believe the amount of traffic on that little tiny island, maybe it’s good time for you to start walking again. It’s good for your heart.

Thanks for that info, maybe next time you are home you need to have them label exactly where Ocar ends and Hamilton begins. Don't worry sir, I do walk, but you can't keep turning a blind eye. What was in the past was fitting for that period. If more people could have purchased a vehicle back in those times they would have, people walked because there wasn't another option. Back in the earlier times men rowed boats to Kingstown, then sailed now we motoring there. 😃. Have a beautiful weekend Mr. Davis, next time you visit you have to shout me up man.

@ maybe you’re not grasping the full context of my conversation, I believe I displayed what the times were, and maybe I forgot to mention that there weren’t any roads to speak of back then. There were two strips of concrete from here to there. I live with my grandmother up on the top of Bragone (SP) in the little wooden house, and walked from the Long wall on Sugarhill through the Bush to get there. Those were lovely times. There was an older guy with a crooked foot that walked every evening and lit four lanterns. Fill them with kerosene pump them up and let them, one in Hamilton. One in Ocar at the corner, where Cocoo‘s restaurant is now .and I believe there was two in the harbor. I went to the seventh Day Adventist school and walked home for lunch and back to school for evening session ,I was also living in St. Vincent when light came on in Bequia. Our LittleLittle Ireland finally had electricity. Back then, the only way to get to town and back was on a little blue schooner called Whistler. Sadly, as you speak of the new times we are now, everyone can afford a vehicle it has become crowded. Another thing that I noticed every time I came home to race in the Easter Regatta there was more and more litter on the street. The island became dirty, beer, bottles, candy, wrappers paper cups, and everything that someone can throw out of the vehicle because they want to keep their cars clean, so everything winds up on the side of the road from Hamilton to Padgett Farm. Yes, I fully understand what progress is however, we have a little gem in the middle of the Caribbean and if we don’t take care of it and respect it a little more, we will certainly lose it to foreigners who seem to love it more than we do. By the way, I did leave a message for you telling you that I would be waitingacross from Nights in Oark in the little shack on the side of the road, from 10 o’clock in the morning. I guess you didn’t get my message. I’ve been following you for probably as long as you’ve been doing your videos, since I no longer come home to sail in the Regattas at Easter. I was home for most of the month of July and truly did not like a lot of what I’ve been seeing. My point is a simple one. St. Vincent and the Grenadines is heavily dependent on tourist, and if it’s a little inconvenient while the taxi drivers are making money doing tours around the island, then so be it. Be a little more tolerant because your lives depends on it.

@erroldavis2983 this is what I am talking about man. Lovely piece of history, don't get me wrong eh, I am not against tourism at all. My issue is the lack of awareness and the fact that whatever the memo is that was given to the officers is being interpreted differently, so it's a bit confusing. I will show you what I mean. One taxi driver that was blocked from parking there one day got on FB and vented, they were only allowing specific taxis to park there on the days a ship is in the Harbour. It's confusing to type about it really. Things could have been fixed with some public awareness, because that's what happens on Easter Monday.
Yea I saw your message late, and I am sorry I missed you. I heard a lot about Whistler. I pray I get the opportunity to sit with you one day. Stay blessed and thank you for engaging.

Yeah, that roti and cakes look good.
Well as for here in NYC, parking is real problem, Come January 2025 the authorities have decided to charge a congestion fee of $9.00 for any vehicle, every time one drives through Manhattan: south of 66 street.
This is as a mean, to limit vehicular congestion, and to improve the quality of the environment, and life as a whole.
People are complaining, but that's it.
There's also parking restrictions during certain events in the city. People are asked to leave their vehicles at home, by the authorities, and to take public transportation, like the subway, or public buses, instead.
So I don't think, that a public parking restrictions in port Elizabeth, is so much unique and uncommon than one will find in other places of the world. Even in The business district of London UK. there's restriction on parking.
Of course, this current situation would present a little inconvenience, during the tourist season, but just persevere my friend for a while, every thing will be okay. Sometimes theses break from the norm are some of the changing dynamics of a developing society.
    Take care, and be blessed.
I wish I could have had that roti here in NYC right now. However, when I come home, I am sure going to visit that restaurant, and get me some. It looks really appetising and delicious.
    Viewing from NYC.

"People are asked to leave their vehicles at home. " that's the key line here. It means there is some form of public awareness. During Easter, on Monday, we don't allow parking under the almond trees, but we provide alternatives, and there is public awareness.
If things are done in a respectful manner, then it will make a difference.
The public transport system is much different there than here so it will be hard to tell people to leave their vehicles home and use that means as an alternative. You won't want to sit in PT here if you're not accustomed to doing so. I can assure you, you're going to be mashing brakes and praying to get to where you're going. Haha. Do you know they were prohibiting other Taxis from parking there because they didn't have a tourism sticker?

Let’s not forget that it is the tourist season all the way until Easter Regatta, that keeps Bequia. Afloat financially. so if I were the Bequia people that were complaining, I would suck it up, because for the rest of the year, Bequia is dead. It becomes a little ghost town and everyone bitches and complains at how tough times are. So suck it up a little, walk a little bit more. It’s good for your heart and you be healthier for it.

Hmmmm...I hear you sir, but that doesn't mean that we have to sit and watch stupidity take over. You have to be in it to really understand what's happening. Things can be done much better; the people who are placed out there have to be on the same page and have to learn to use their discretion at times. Bequia isn't dead for the rest of the year, it's just calm and it's something that we are accustomed to. The point isn't what is, but it's how it is done. You can't allow one person and then deny another. Not everyone benefits from the cruise industry.
