This was a brand new bike and our customer had just bought it for his son so they could ride together. It was a special edition Sportster, number 29/100 made with this particular paint job. Unfortunately the bike was damaged the very first day resulting in a very large, deep dent to the right side of the tank.

This process is an art form it should not be performed by do-it-yourselfers, this was an absolute professional job and it is one of the only three times I've seen someone get this kind of crease out. Your work was flawless and you're definitely an artist. I've been in the restoration business for over 30 years and we have a guy that comes by and does this type of work and he is absolutely amazing and you definitely matched his expertise.

I was a PDR tech firm Dent Wizard years back and later went independent. Did very little work on motorcycles but when you got to the stretched mound I too thought no matter where you go from there it'll never look unnoticeable. That is some fantastic work! The reason I looked this up because my brothers bike tank got dented and I was looking for some quick solutions. He also is an old PDR tech and still has most of his tools. Probably just going to do it PDR method. It's a simple dent with no crease or smiles. Should pop easily.

I’m here because I have dents in my tank. I bought a PDR “kit” off Amazon for less than $20. Had two pullers, a scraper, some glue sticks and the pieces you glue to the dented area. I had very low expectations but figured for $20 it was worth a shot. To my surprise 90% of the dent came out after 1 failed attempt and 2 good pulls. The dent is barely there now. The dent was the size of a a baseball and as deep as 3/4 of a inch. All but a tiny bit is gone.
I used gorilla glue sticks due to the sticks from the kit being too small for my glue gun.
The 2nd pull which was really the first real pull blew my mind watching the dent come up right in from of my eyes. Then the next pull really shrank the dent to almost nothing. After that I could not get more of it out and burnt the shit out of my thumb, so I boxed it and got to paint correction.
Pro PDR guys have my UTMOST respect. I bet that is one heck of a satisfying job. Closest thing I have ever seen to magic.
Cool jig for holding tanks. I sure wish we were in the same area. I bet you could make my tank look perfect.

Impressive craftsmanship. I had a 77 Super Glide with a similar dent, tried the freezing water routine, no workie.. Shame these techniques weren't around back in 77. If they were I never knew or saw it. Good job.

Thank you 👍. I have other videos showing the tools and some techniques but the truth is that unless someone is committed to purchasing an extensive array of tools and spending a chunk of change on training and then have years to develop the skills, you won’t being doing repairs like these anyway.
