  • There are so many things we are told by the industry, whether from other stylists or salon owners, or school, that we accept as unbreakable rules. In this video I share 3 big ones I broke! And I am so happy I did, because if I didn't I don't believe I would have seen the success I have had in this industry. I hope this encourages you to evaluate some of the things in your career that you may need to change in order to take you to the next level!

    I wish I’d had this video when I first received my license! Every…single…time that I would begin to break one of these 3 rules, someone in my life would advise me not to and for years I’ve just thought maybe I’m the “crazy” one? Thank you for allowing me to see that I’m not crazy 💕

    My whole reason for starting off independently is because I do both hair and nails and most salons don’t accommodate for that and it was just smarter to rent a small location that accommodated that

    Thank you so much for sharing. I too have relocated to an entirely new state where I hardly know anyone and definitely zero clientele. I'm in the process of opening my second salon and going on the strength and faith of God and some savvy marketing. Some ideas I've learned and incorporated from you. Hopefully my grandopening will be this coming labor day. Thanks again!

    I am really wanting to learn how to do lightener & undertones not the actual "color" they want, but the "shade". Cool vs warm tones. . . . .. I didn't learn much about toners in school.

      Are you wondering what makes cool tones and what makes warm tones?

    I am on the fence about opening a salon suite with what sometimes feels like a small client base. I want to break rule 1 and do it anyway lol!

      You can absolutely do it but you MUST have a plan! Save up while you work at a salon right now so you have some money to fall back on. Estimate what your expenses will be. Create a plan for generating new business. Use your time at your current salon to plan plan plan! you may have to wait a little bit to get started but a good plan takes a lot less time than building a full clientele before leaving ❤️

    Are these beauty school rules? Have you ever taken a business or marketing class? Or read books on this subject? I love that you are going for it and doing this AND making people pay for your courses on a hair color skill that you have mastered! Your branding and marketing advice however comes off as just use of trigger words. I think you need to talk more about specific campaigns you have run or tested how you tracked it, what the costs were, where you made adjustments and what the final results were. That is marketing. Building a following is definately not building a brand. I think educating hairdressers with your skill is where you need to keep your focus. That will build your brand and make you far more money than trying to teach these types of skills

      Relax and just take a chill pill. She's only giving advice from her personal business experiences. She never claimed to be a marketing expert or even holding a degree in business. Some people!!

    Can you give more details on how you were getting your free clients please. Was it first time only free visit?

    • @LaurenFrancesHair
      @LaurenFrancesHair  3 года назад +2

      Hey So I wasn’t really doing free clients in that sense. I was finding people who would be suitable for creating content that would attract high paying clients. Because they were letting me do whatever I wanted and spending the day with me, I did not charge. I was doing transformations and posting online to attract high end paying clients. Some became clients, but the goal was not to have them rebook. (It is a bonus if they did) but the primary goal was to produce content. Think of it as producing your own commercial in order to build your brand. For example if you were producing a clothing ad, you would pay models to represent your clothes. Accept with this strategy you don’t have to pay the models!

    Honesty these “premiers” are kinda frustrating! Just release them per usual, it’s gonna pop in our feed anyways and announcing 5 days ahead is a little tacky....this isn’t a Billie Eilish Music Video lol
