You’ll probably notice Alucard sounds a bit different in the next episode. Sometime between recording for episode 1 and recording for episode 2, Takahata (who also voiced Nappa, Dende, Guru, and Cell) got surgery to fix his deviated septum. You’ll definitely notice an improvement in his voice work, especially in sounding a lot less nasal-y when doing the Alucard voice.
To be honest, I never actually noticed. It was probably a big change nonetheless from his point of view I imagine.
Never knew about that. Always thought it was a mix of his voice changing/ his performance getting better , put into an exponential equation of how good their mics and recording studio was at the time lol
I dont think I ever even questioned it until he pointed it out in the Halloween Hellsing Abridged Marathon he did with Kaiser.

In the original, Alucard knew Seras was done for, when she was a hostage, so he opted for offering her the next best thing. See, when a vampire bites someone, he or she turns into a ghoul, but if he bites a virgin, he or she turns into another vampire. Seras seemed just young enough to still be a virgin...which is why the priest decided to rape her before killing, as to not accidentally create another vampire. So, at gunpoint, Alucard asked the weird question, if she was a virgin, to which she eventually replied, she was...and then he shot the priest through her, and then bit her, before she died, so she can at least live on as a vampire.

Just know that the main antagonist from the next episode is basically unchanged from the actual official dub. It’s one of the most darkly funny things in the entire series.
The episode 3 intro read is hilarious 😂
the funny thing is, TFS said to try to make that villain funny in their way, they had to actually dial him back....I'd argue the original is worse.

Point of note: Alexander Anderson isn't a vampire. He's a vampire hunter with a whole bunch of B.S. supernatural hacks. You'll be seeing much more of him in the future.
In fact, in my opinion, all four/five characters that are featured in this episode (Alucard, Seres, Integra, Alexander, and the Butler but we''ll get to him later) are all amazingly badass in their own way, and gloriously fun characters in this show.

I love how this abridge series came about from Taka (one of the 3 TFS writers and voice of Cell and more), as a result of challenge of “its impossible to make this serious show funny” from another member of the abridging community.
It’s noticeable how Taka has a greater influence on the writing and humor of this series too, because it was originally his series on his individual channel.
they didn't think it was impossible because the show was serious, it was because they didn't think they could abridge something that was already insane to begin with.
You can tell that Takahata101 had an absolute fucking blast voicing both Cell and Alucard
If I remember correctly, the first episode was an out-of-date April Fools joke for Halloween, but it proved so popular that TFS decided to continue on, and each new episode was released on Halloween. Until they missed one, and then it got a little squigly.

The marked improvements from season 1 of DBZA to 2 and 3 definitely reflect upon HUA's 10 episodes too. There was an even longer amount of time between episodes for this show.
I could never quite get over the fact that Alucard is voiced by Perfect Cell.

Welcome to Hellsing Ultimate Abridged. This was originally a TFS annual Halloween special, but clearly transcended that. The VO work and writing in this are top notch, be sure to enjoy yourself, it'll be a fun next 10 weeks. Glad you're continuing the TFS rabbit hole. Added context. The beginning troll was a One Piece fake out. TFS had been teasing the release of a new series to be premiered at that year's Youmacon and were purposely doing a bad job of bluring the One Piece logo, so it was a shock to the attendees when it turned out to be hellsing ultimate.
The bit about Alucard turning Seras into a vampire was funny, but the context for that scene is Alucard asks her if she's a virgin while she's being held by the vampire priest. She replies that she is, and then alucard shoots her to kill the priest because he knows he can convert a virgin maiden to a vampire, and thus saving her.

6:43 usually i get sick of those kind of jokes fast, but Alucard is a specially written case to be throwing such barbs. his interactions with Anderson are one of my favorite things in this whole series.

11:06 ahh yes, the Major. This guy has a speech in the original that knocked my socks off, and is another piece as to why i enjoy this series as a whole. Also an interesting batch of characters under his command here.
13:50 Integra hellsing. badass is a term that gets used way to much, but as far as i call it, considering the crap that goes on around her, she is a great example of it, as You may see in the abridged.

Yes, happy you're doing this series, too! It gets really graphic at points but some moments are just absolutely incredible (say my name for example), from a dramatic standpoint especially.
This series was wicked, not gonna lie about it. It's got the humor, drama, and a few surprisingly sweet moments.
Ahhh, not many abridge series can be as dated as this one, yet still be so good

**FUN FACT** Since y'all watched The Legend of Vox Machina, Taliesin Jaffe (Percy) was the voice directer and script adapter for the official dub releases of Hellsing and Hellsing Ultimate. If you ever decide to watch the full release if ultimate you'll recognize quite a few familiar voices throughout it 😁😁

It's easily one of my top 5 shows ever. Only warning, it can get extremely dark at times, but like as not, you've discovered that because you guys react in batches.
We react to Warhammer 40k so we are used to the darkness by now 😝😈
@Definitely Not Definitive fair enough. I guess to me, the vibes of 40ks almost comical darkness is different than the sometimes crass and harsh humor hellsing has.

With Takahata as Cell and Alucard; you can say his role of Alucard is him being a less evil but more fubar character XD Hellsing Abridges is fantastic!
Anderson and Alucard are my two favs of this abridged series. Seras is in third.
First off, I’m SO HAPPY you’re doing this series, it’s a masterpiece. Secondly, after it’s done you have to give Bleach S Abridged a chance, even if you’ve never seen Bleach. It’s made partly by the same people, and is of equal quality and the story is fantastic ❤

Seeing HBI2K and how straight laced he looks and then imagining him recording Anderson is a hilarious image.
TFS used to do this every year on Halloween as a treat but stuff was going on behind the scenes so they released the later episodes after Halloween but all in all, it’s a great series and the voice acting is on point, especially with Taka, Alucard is arguably his best character with Cell being a close second
Just to clarify guys, Hellsing Ultimate Abridged was the side project team four star did while keeping their main focus on DBZA, so they would just release one episode a year on Halloween. Hence, why you'll see a clear improvement as the series goes on. This work really illustrates how their voice acting, productions skills and equipment improved over the years, even more so than watching all of DBZA. Was also their chance to do something they knew would definitely be NSFW so they didn't hold back at all.
Dang this brings back memories. Hope you guys enjoy the series!

Truly the quality steps up every episode until the last few on this series. Just like with DBZA, it really gets way better right up until the very end.
Id argue it's like Perfect Cell getting his own show. Not just because he's voiced by the same guy but also because Alucard actually accomplishes shit more than he fails just like Cell

This series, from what I understand, is 80% Taka's writing. The guy who played Cell in DBZA. He's pretty fucking funny, and when they let him off the leash to say whatever humor he wants, he goes ALL OUT. It's great

I thought it was quite interesting how Bethany brought up the comparison between Alucard and Vegeta when Alucard has a much stronger association with Perfect Cell (Same voice actor with same-ish voice but also similar mannerisms) but when she laid it out, she definitively has a point. Alucard does share quite a bit with Vegeta, just lacks the insecurity and Napoleon Complex.
As for Alucard's boss, Integra Hellsing, she is the leader of the Hellsing Organization. An organization set up by the British monarchy to defend against supernatural entities such as vampires, werewolves and whatnot of other mystical and mythical origination.
The full name of the organization is: Her Royal English Legions of Legitimate Supernatural and Immortal Night Guard.
The organisation was first founded by Abraham Van Helsing shortly after the events of Bram Stoker's novel, which technically means that these events take place in the same universe and timeline as that book, just quite far in the future of modern day.
Hope you enjoy, it's a fantastic series. I envy you though. We all had to wait a year between each episode, you get to watch them all at once!

Fun facts:
1.Both the original OVA and this abridged had a similar release schedule lol
The OVA started in 2006 and ended in 2012. With it taking an extra 2 years for the Dub to get done, so technically 2014.
Whereas the abridged started in 2010 and ended in 2018
2. Hellsing Ultimate was originally supposed to be something TFS wanted to release every Halloween or so. But due to all the troubles with copyright, moving to a bigger team and facility over the years etc , it made consistent releases basically impossible
This is a great series. If you can make it through episode two (it's a little much for some people), you'll have a great time right through to the end.

I will say it’s more Perfect Cell getting his own show than Vageta - and not just because of the voice. Cell also had Vegeta’s bravado and skill, but was Zarbon levels of sexual innuendo

DBZAbridged, Hellsing Ultimate and SAO Abridged to me are the standard for quality abridged series. Glad to see you guys doing this series now.
Something to note- each episode was made a year apart, and TFS had already gotten a lot of experience via DBZA (and some other projects) when they started. This can help explain why it started off with a higher level of quality- they had that juicy experience going in.
Plus, yeah, blowing away the Twilight "vampire"- an easy win.
So cool that Abridged Alucard was in Death Battle.
An important thing to note about the quality increase. They were releasing these videos about once a year, with some exceptions. So as DBZA got better slower, they took the lessons from that and applied it to Hellsings later episodes. So the quality jumps are gonna be bigger between each episodes with the plateau happening around episode 6-7. 8-10 are just some of the best abridged story telling they do.
I'm jealous at the ones who just experiencing this series for the first time, you just don't know how excruciating it was when we are waiting for this because it was only 10 episodes but it took years before it was finished. it's like 1-2 episodes annually but mostly it was just 1 then wait period that most people forgot it exist.

I love how Alucard completely acknowledges Integra as "MOM" cause he's entirely correct. As the progenitor of his controlling bloodline, Integra is basically the dommy mommy of their relationship, hence why Alucard spends an insane amount of effort in flexing on her overall control of things. And later on, he expresses how not even he has control of his power because he's willingly given that to her as well. Either because she gave him blood for the first time in centuries or because he's a pervert. Which one is more likely to be true? Uuuhh, I plead the 5th.
A fun touch that you may not have noticed, but when Seras (the police girl) goes on her violent streak, Rob Zombie is played in the background.
I have only just started watching your content, currently burning through the dbza series you have and I appreciate you guys took this one on. Fair warning that I'm sure you have already been made aware of but there are segments of future episodes that have gotten copyright hits on if needed I could make a timestamp list of the segments so when you get to those parts and you're editing the video together you can take measures to avoid it. Other than that, I say this with much excitement, my sweet summer children, you are not ready for what lays before you on this road and I cannot wait to see it. Keep up the good work
After my friend showed me this abridged series, I watched the actual show in order to see how closely the plots lined up. It was very entertaining after watching the abridged. I definitely recommend it. And I don't generally watch anime. As in, that was the first anime show I went and watched.

Just so you know, the reason it starts with the One Piece intro is because TFS had been teasing a new Abridged series and it was super hyped and this video was premiered at a convention and so it was one big red herring for the fans. At the time everyone was speculating and expecting it to be One Piece. So thats why it opens with One Piece. It was a great bait and switch.
Fun fact, just the the original series, HUA was released one episode per year, hence you'll see the jump in quality

For context regarding the opening: TFS announced the reveal of a new abridged series at a convention. No one had any idea what it was when the video started playing. They baited everyone with One Piece then switched to Helsing.

Welcome to the madness! Now that you’ve finished the main DBZA series, I’m sure you recognize the voice of Alucard. And I hope you enjoy all of the good old ultra violence. Just be warned that some stuff doesn’t date well, but that shouldn’t stop it from being funny anyway. Plus, you don’t have to wait a full year between episodes.

so, fun fact, the gun he had at the beginning? It has a 12+1 capacity per the original show. So, in that machine gun fire rate of shooting he did...he reloaded twice.

Dragonball Z abridged was started in 2008 in comparison, so they had 2 years under their belt at this point, and it was about this point the polishing really started to show on both
