Just got a 23' Kia Sportage hybrid for the wife and whenever I drive it I think of this video because it'll cold start the ICE and idle while driving in EV
Brings tears to my eyes. A wonderfully sophisticated homage to the greatest Porsche racers of all time: The 917, 956 and 962. Let's not forget the RS Spyder and 919. With the partnering of IMSA and FIA WEC in 2023, sports car racing jumps to another great level. Thank you Roger and Weissach.
Indeed. You gotta see the 919 STREET if you haven't already. It literally is LMP for the street and she's quite good lookin. I feel they did an amazing job.
I won't even talk about the sound - WOW! I am amazed how well they made it look like a 911, the front and rear lights and matching curves... So well done Porsche!
What a beauty! This car should be able to honor the 962 back in the day. I wish the Porsche team the greatest, best of luck! And may the Lord guide them to victory against Toyota, Peugeot, Cadillac, Glickenhaus, and Ferrari at Le Mans next year!
@@qualitydrive2207 true. I’ve just checked and it doesn’t have a V4 as I thought. It has a 4.6l V8 supercharged. That explains the similarity in sound with the 918
My literal commentary during the launch: "...okay Porsche another electri...oh damn! OH DAMN!!!" Nothing against hybrids but wow that caught me off-guard! 😂😂😂
Great capture of the new brute Bozzy! Such a shame the 963 didn't run on the Sunday so couldn't hear its engine in person :(. Was hoping it to be yellow as well to show the collaboration with Team Penske but hopefully the privateers will spice up the liveries! Any plans on attending Le Mans centenary event next year to see all these brands back?? :D
The JOTA/Hertz privateer car in WEC might be either JOTA's green (would look ace on this) or yellow. JDC-Miller's car in IMSA might be yellow like their previous "bananaboats".
@@JMartinni Hope it is green for JOTA, as for JDC wouldn't they stick with the Mustang Sampling sponsorship that they currently have on their Cadillac DPi or does their partnership end after this year with that sponsor??
@@CupsofCopus I don't know about Mustang Sampling, but it would look awesome in that black and gold livery! I am hoping for a sizeable amount of Yellow on the Hertz sponsored car, they said "you are going to notice it"!

So now will these be as quick as the previous 2018 era lmp1 cars ? Or will they be around the speeds of the current lmp1 hypercars or whatever they're called, It's been a minute since I've kept up with WEC and would love to know 😭😭
They'll be on the same level of the current Le Mans Hypercars , so unfortunately slower than the old LMP1.. Basically LMH (Le Mans Hypercars) and LMDh (Le Mans Daytona Hybrid) are two different rule sets for the same class of cars. So even if they are called differently they will have similar performance

Or even better! The Caddilac LMDH! 'You want sound, wait till they release and review!
I guess ugly LMP cars are what the Hypercar class is about. Its seriously underwhelming imo as I expected more cars like the Senna GTR, FXXK evo or Valkyrie
@@nik7bkh965 this is an LMDH car so I don't think there is a much design freedom at all, but LMH does have a lot more freedom, but teams still seem to be going with the LMP-like designs

That’s because it’s a hybrid. It uses the electric motor to begin, with the V8 cutting in at a certain speed. It’s fine with these things, since they’re always doing rolling starts.

This is exactly how i imagined hybrid hypercars 15 years ago, this sound is the future, especially the launch in electric then ice kicking in, insane
LMP1-H did that back in 2012, starting in electric isn't exactly new in the WEC
You should look for the Toyota lmp car switching from electric to gas! It’s amazing 🤩 😆 😂
So you're a genius, right?
Although the Engine seems to be coming from the old RS Spyder which run in IMSA
1:16 The way the combustion engine kicks in after launching in electric mode😍
Beautiful Sound!
toyota lmp1 start like
That was wow back in 2012 when Toyota LMP1 did it.
But then again tech-wise LMDh is pretty much 2012.
TOYOTA and TMG skunkworks already done that. 2012..

They probably weren't sure if it would be dry or not for the run, they also didn't want to push anyways so it didn't really matter I suppose.
