WOW! I am shocked to see this!!! This is ME singing CAN YOU FEEL THE LOVE TONIGHT! I was the original singer for the concept pitch meeting. I'm blown away!!!! Thank you for giving me such a thrill!!!
I first heard this version in the behind the scenes trailer before the fox and the hound in 1994. I was legit disappointed when this version wasnt in the final cut
The end of this shows them climbing a rock to overlook the falls. In the 2019 remake, they both climb a rock to rest on together. So in a way, the artists of the remake brought back a scene from this. I always liked this version a bit more, and they could have kept the african themed soundtrack and still worked with these lyrics. The final version is nice, but there's something beautiful about this version that I think deserves to be noticed. I can really feel the emotion in this. Someone should animate this version because it's so beautiful.
Wow, this brings back so many memories is sitting in front of the tv waiting to watch “The Fox and The Hound”. Honestly, Elton John did a great job but I would have loved for this version to be SOMEWHERE in the movie.
And not to mention two thing there newer films are kinda missing- Heart And Soul Being Poured into the film with Pride in Their Work. Plus them actually having good old fashioned awesome 2D Hand Drawn Animation (I really miss seeing that in Animated Films these days). Also. God bless you for uploading this to RUclips. And I just freaking wish Disney had used this version of CYFTLT in the Lion King Remake (Cutting Timone And Pumba out of the song completely). And I just hope someone is able to fully animate this scene like they did with the deleted Be Prepared Reprise.
Well, Elton John in the credits. Kristle Edwards (lead vocal), Sally Dworsky (Nala), Joseph Williams (Simba), Nathan Lane (Timon), Ernie Sabella (Pumbaa) This version is Matthew Broderick and Moira Kelly.
I just wanna know what happens when they go behind the waterfall.... I've been watching this early version for YEARS now, and I'm still not sure what goes on in the animatic. They turn into a ...rock. And then...it's very unclear until they go up ON a rock. I wish there was a CD release featuring this song and also the early Circle of Life song. Either way....awesome that you posted it. :-)
2:25 Oh...the Memories of watching the preview on the "Fox and the Hound" VHS!! I finally found the original rare version of this song! Thank you for posting this!!
The Disney Sing-Along Songs VHS "Colors of the Wind" contained a version of "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" that was very similar in style to this one, but used the lyrics of Elton John's single version.
Lion King is my FAVORITE movie of ALL TIMES!! I just barely made the connection that this song is pretty much when they uh....make....the baby. It took me 15 years to realize that. Sad.
The lyrical Concept is sooooo much better here. But I do would not disagree that it sounds a little to disneyish. But this sure as hell beats Timon and Pumbas version of this song.
Thanks for posting this! I remember seeing the Lion King trailer on the Fox & The Hound video years ago and being SO curious to hear the rest of the alternative "Can You Feel the Love." And now I finally have! :D
awwwwwwwww this is so much prettier than the orginal! (but don't get me wrong i still love the orinal version 4eva and always lol) thanxs for uploading this x
oh. thanks for posting this! I never knew. I saw the quasi-duet version in broadway but this sounds much nicer. They still could use the two singing, with timon's part and the african chants. I prefer it over the girl who sings it in the movie.
In the trailer, which I have, they do this version of the song. However it would not have followed the african theme and they wanted Timon and Pumba in this song somewhere.
@TotoTheBest91 Nala: Somewhere there's a reason Why I have to go Keep away from this star-crossed voyager That I don't want to know Simba: Never trust the future Never miss the past. If you live for the shinning moment The Moment may just last
Both: And can you feel the love tonight. It is where we are, it’s enough for this wide eyed wonderer that we’ve gone this far. Both: Can you feel the love tonight. Nala: Can you feel the love. Both: Won’t you stay to see. Simba: Won’t you stay to see. Both: Stealing through the nights uncertainties, a truth for you and me. Stealing through the nights uncertainties a love for you and me.
I like this version better than the one in the movie. Maybe they could have kept the Timon and Pumbaa Intro and Ending and put this in the middle. That would have been fine.
Both versions are great in their own way. This version is great and I wish there was an iTunes version or HD version at least. However, the movie one is awesome as well and to put it under this one would be shameful. They are both great, easily combinable. Isn't it a good argument though. To argue which 2 awesome things are better, than worse?
I like this song, the images are beautiful but some of them are really difficult to understand, by the way, will this videoclip appear on the lion king blu-ray edition??? It'll be really nice!!!
i agree! that would have been horrible if they put it in the movie! lol, i remember watching a documantery on tim rice and elton john and they were talking about how they were making the song, and i luv eltons reaction when he was talking about when he heard that they may use the part with only timon and pumbaa singing. i would react the same way if i heard they were trying to sing a love song for simba and nala. that would have been awful! i wish they used this version though. much prettier!
Hmm... I thought Elton John's version was the original one... Anyway, that really was a great song. I like the lyrics better than the one that was actually sung in the movie. However, I don't completely agree with Chazfem, but I do think that Elton John sang it better. But that doesn't mean that the movie version isn't sung without emotion. Thanks for uploading this!
For two possible reasons: for one thing, its a little longer and involved then the final version and second, perhaps the main reason it was never used is that, while I do find this version incredibly moving and romantic, the noticeable amount of "kissing" and touching between the two also make it somewhat (to put it lightly) sensual. Not blatantly, but At least enough it seems, to push it into a PG rating. *SPOILER* kind of explains the lion cub at the end though.
If they rerelease The Lion King on Blue Ray Disc, they should do a special two disc soundtrack. Almost like The Nightmare Before Christmas and Little Mermaid, but instead include deleted songs like this on the second disc.
this version is really nice i enjoy the timon and pumbaa one that got into the movie but this version is a much more brilliant and amazing rendition, if they do another lion and king movie , they should bring back this version of *cyftlt* from the first film , and have a remix of this version
While I absolutely love the final movie version, I do wish they'd included a few aspects of this: 1. No Timone and Pumbaa 2. Love it as a duet between Simba and Nala 3. Wish some of these lyrics had made it into either the original or Elton John version. 4. It's longer, always felt like the original was a little rushed cuz then they argue 2 minutes later. Oh well, The Lion King is still my all time favorite Disney movie, and Simba & Nala one of the best Disney couples :)
they should have used this in the movie! timon and pumbaa ruin the one in the movie, but this one is just beautiful! just the part of simba and nala making out (how the hell lions do that is over me O.O") they should edit! thank u!
My guess is....this is real deleted scene of the lion king because... 1. It's black and white on the video 2. We haven't seen this scene or this new song for so long and 3. I haven't seen nala (my loving girlfriend) give Simba a real human kiss on his handsome face.
This is such a beautiful song ^^ Hey are you the owner of the website this was also on? I remember also an international trailer for The Lion King on that sight, featuring The Circle of Life in 11 languages. I would loove it if you put that on RUclips :D
WOW! I am shocked to see this!!! This is ME singing CAN YOU FEEL THE LOVE TONIGHT! I was the original singer for the concept pitch meeting. I'm blown away!!!! Thank you for giving me such a thrill!!!
DEAR LORD!
I know this is 3 years late but why they didn't keep this version? and scene do you remember by any chance? it's so good. amazing voice
We still need a. Color version of the song
I first heard this version in the behind the scenes trailer before the fox and the hound in 1994. I was legit disappointed when this version wasnt in the final cut
Yes, me too. I'm right there with you.
I remember that
Me too!!
Best Disney Film EVER!
2:25 That’s It! That’s the sound of the Music from the Preview of The Lion King I heard in the VHS of The Fox & The Hound.
Yes!! I've been looking for it too, was so disappointed it was not in the movie!
I still remember the commercial vividly.
I 💕 this part.
I don’t know why they didn’t put this in to the movie

well , i admire the different renditions of this song,
this version is without a doubt very pretty
this is by far the best version. should have been in the film.

No it isn't!!!
The film version is so much better!!!
@@annalcal4534 I respect your opinion, but how?
@@Merryianna the African sounds in the final cut just add so much beauty
Beautiful... Why is this not on Spotify?

This is incredible... it would have been awesome if they had gone ahead and animated this.
Wow, this brings back so many memories is sitting in front of the tv waiting to watch “The Fox and The Hound”. Honestly, Elton John did a great job but I would have loved for this version to be SOMEWHERE in the movie.

3 things a Disney animated film must have.
1. Good story.
2. Good characters.

Simba and Nala make out at the end .,;)
it's called an animatic. they're simplified just to give the artists an idea before they actually start putting time and using the expensive stuff.

Very good question!
Disney wanted Timon and Pumba in this song.
They made a Timon and Pumba version only song.
They "Finally" reached a conclusion.
3. Made the song a fricking hit
While I absolutely love the final movie version, I do wish they'd included a few aspects of this:
1. No Timone and Pumbaa

I have 60 versions (mp3's) of this song.
I know the feeling.
this version is so much better than Elton John's. Have heard the S Club 7 version, thats an awesome version of the song.
Thank you so much!

Google can you feel the love tonight early version mp3 to find a link to a website called Beemp3. There you can download this demo recording.

can someone please tell me the lyrics of the part where simba and nala sing alone, i can't understand sone words....
no that was the one they used in the movie plus an alternate ending
@wileyk209zback The Sing-Along Songs Version of "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?"
No, I think it followed the "African theme" as well as the movie version.
Simba sounds like he's 15
Debating if I should put the Timon and Pumba version up.
:P
I wish this was in color
Your young, you will figure it out one day.
I doubt it, but, buy a Laser Disc player and watch this version on your own t.v :P
