I don’t exactly know what happened at your place (I’m a brand new subscriber) but I gather it was pretty awful 😣😡 I ❤️❤️ the Mangshans and am impressed how chill most of yours are. That enclosure is absolutely awesome! Here’s hoping that you can get eggs soon! The species needs dedicated , caring and expert breeders like you! I’m hoping that they survive in the wild but the limited range and continued poaching (🤬!!) is very concerning. Keep up the good work 👍👍 Always good to see someone of “my generation”(I’m 67) living the dream 🙂🙂🐍🐍🦎🦎🐊🐊

Hi Tom, I love seeing you talk about your Mangshans and I also love seeing Mai Mai (sp) out of her cage. She is the most polite house guest when she comes out to see you.
I was reading a report on the species today (undoubtedly one you have read) from 2020. It discussed the way a team had managed to conduct a study to estimate numbers of Mangshan living in the Hunan Reserve over a period of 5 years including seasonal variations of habitat from optimal shrub/tree/herb height, floor cover, tree height, density etc to refugia requirements to perturb behaviours and prevent stress. It was such a good read and extremely useful for people wanting to recreate the optimum environment for captive Mangshan and also in ensuring their natural habitat is protected. Asides from having an actual stream running through your enclosures you have it down to T Tom!!! 👌(I’m not suggesting you install a stream by the way!!😂)
You mentioned that you change things out in their enclosures every so often. I wondered whether you do that in line with the seasons in an attempt to tip them over ‘naturally’ into breeding as well as other natural behaviours etc?
I have everything crossed for you that you have success with their breeding very soon and will be watching closely to hopefully hear when that happens!!🙏🏼 It looks like you will be successful I’m sure👌Best wishes from Brisbane, Amanda👋

    morning #TomCrutchfield
you have a very "curious" not docile to say the least,😒☝️ yet super intelligent viper in your care today. MeiMei,im noticing she,has no fear of you,the camera person(and i know that camera is giving off all kinds of emt, radiated heat that she feel from it)MeiMei knows shes the Apex, the Queen of this room. shes gliding gracefully from one end of her box, flicking her tongue, tilting her head from side to side, listening to Everything in that room. youve had,her for 10 years? thats incredible 😲just so calm and elegant. are you planning on breeding her if the tome comes? or you think she, might be too old to be looking forward to that husbandry 😥

@@jebVlogs556 oh yes if she chooses to breed. She lives with 2.2 adults in an 18'x5'x8' high habitat...My guess is they live at least 25-35 years
