  • Tom Crutchfield is a life long herpetologist (someone who studies reptiles). He has traveled the world in search of some of the rarest and most unique venomous snakes, crocodilians and lizards for his collection. At one point he was one of the United States most wanted wildlife smugglers but now enjoys life on his reptile farm surrounded by the many beautiful animals he has collected over the years. We hope you enjoy this film.
Welcome to Pirate and Palm. We are a boutique film production company that specializes in telling adventurous stories filmed on ultra hd 8k red cameras. Our youtube channel is where we share our short biopics on extraordinary people living their dreams outside of society's norms. Modern day pirates. The athletes, the artists, the adventurers. People who followed their passions and turned their wildest dreams into their day to day lives.
We have always been fascinated with people who followed their passions, lived with an almost singular focus, and done so successfully. Living the type of lives that don’t fit into our societal norms. The lives most people dream of. The ones that leave us wondering how these people pull it off? What did they do differently that not only allowed them to pursue their passions, but were actually able to do so with real success. Leading self sufficient, thriving lives in high risk, unconventional ways.
We spend our days seeking out these individuals and telling their stories through our short films. We have focused on artists, athletes, and adventurers that threw caution to the wind, laid it all on the line, and actually pulled it off!
Find out what makes these high performing individuals tick. Dive into the minds of some of our generations most fascinating humans through cinematic adventures told through our lens. We will be releasing teasers content and behind the scenes stories to go along with and build up to the release of the actual short films. We will be releasing new content across our social channels daily and new posts here bi weekly. So if you like what you see, subscribe and give us a follow so you don’t miss anything. In the meantime, buckle up, cause it’s gonna be a wild ride

Out of all the RUclips channels when it comes to snakes and reptiles this is the person you need to watch. Anyone and everyone that's been in reptiles for a long time can tell you this man is an absolute legend. One of the most knowledgeable people on the face of the Earth when it comes to reptiles. No fancy unnecessary RUclips acting for the sake of clickbait. Just a really good teacher who is very passionate and has an extreme love for the animals.

Tom is so important to the reptile community. I wish everyone that isn’t in that community would be able to be educated by him. Like he said, they don’t want anything to do with us. They’re not aggressive, they’re defensive. Great interview! What a legend he is!!🐍❤️🐍

Toms a legend. A true herpetological master. The reason we know how to properly keep alot of the species that are kept these days is through the hard work of people like tom.

He's inspired so many people. Some of them are now famous on YT. Tyler Nolan would be one of them. Chandler, Justin(Vanilla Ice) Will...all because of Tom.

I was raised to fear snakes my whole life but for some reason I’m just drawn to Tom’s videos and videos about him.
I think it’s because he reminds me of my grandpa. A well spoken sweet old man. Does the craziest shit you can imagine on a daily basis like handling rattlesnakes. He doesn’t brag about it doesn’t make up wild stories and my grandpa was the same way.
Didn’t smoke or drink just tended a farm. He quit smoking because he’d buy a couple packs forget to smoke them so he just quit. Apparently he used to wrestle gators like actually track them down in a swamp at night with a flashlight wrestle gators not the zoo shows he didn’t even film it let alone tell stories I just heard it from my mom. He had a gun safe with every gun you can imagine from revolvers to a muzzleloader but no pump 12 gauge. I asked my cousin and he said he used to own a pump 12 gauge but he was hog hunting one attacked him and he had to beat it over the head with the stock till the stock broke so he got rid of the gun lol.
Just the craziest shit from such a normal person just like Tom. Lost my grandpa this year and it’s not the same without him. I realized he was pretty much the last “man” in my life I had to look up too. I got men to look up to but like my grandpa just like Tom is a straight up man like a modern day cowboy lol

My grandpa lived in a trailer too for years on this big ass farm. Holes in the floor and everything, before he passed he said he saw a snake in his bathroom. I didn’t believe it, well they killed the snake behind his house and I literally saw it lol. was just a rat snake or something but still if I had a snake in my bathroom I wouldn’t pass it on like it’s just normal id fix that problem the moment it happened like fixing the floor. He just passed it on like it was an annoyance and not like an “holy shit I was taking a shit and I saw a snake in the bathroom” type moment I’d have flipped the hell out
