    I have a 10 yr old Chin with full coat. People stop to see him. He is so well behaved every one in the vet's office loves him. The Chin is one of the most under appreciated breeds I know of. They are so loving!! Yoshi loves attention! So very smart! A Chin trains you!

    I found a nice tip on fixing dry or dead tissue on the nose is to gently massage, with Q-tip or finger, a small amount of Vaseline on the dry area for 3 to 5 days ( avoid nostrils), and the dead tissue will VERY soon slough or fall off like magic , exposing fresh, new nose tissue.

    I found your video very informative. In the past I relied on groomers for my chins. However, I just adopted two chin pups and plan to do their grooming on my own. You've taken the mystery out of the process and I thank you.

      youtube autoplay takes me here (my last upload had 'papillon' in the tile.) . Do you ever test watch your videos and then wonder what the connection is with the youtube autoplay choices? I liked your video and the way you the way you helped the puppy be comfortable and happy :-)

    • @DogPawBlog
      @DogPawBlog  8 лет назад

      I think most of my suggested videos are dog related because of my content. I'm not sure if auto play works in the same way though.

    Thank you! We have a 12-year-old Chin - she's awesome! Picked up some really good tips from this video, especially about trimming the feet. Also, we've left her in full coat but I think I will move away from that to something like you've done with Cupcake (who is a very, very good boy!) Thanks again!

    would love bath video and a dryer recommendation!

    • @DogPawBlog
      @DogPawBlog  8 лет назад

      +tlieder1 Great! I will try to film Coco's bath as a part of her three-part grooming series. I actually do not use a dryer on her, but a lot of groomers use a force dryer on short to medium coats, a cool-air cage dryer, and a fluff dryer on longer drop coats and poodle/bichons.

    He is sooooo good. Our Japanese Chin is also. We were told to shave the whiskers off. I do that and I like the neatness of it. What do you think? Is this a no-no for this breed?

    • @DogPawBlog
      @DogPawBlog  6 лет назад

      I haven’t thought about it before. They do use the whiskers for sensory purposes. But I don’t think there’s a right or wrong. They’re great little dogs❤️

    Loved your video. Thank you so much for taking the time to show us how to groom a chin. Anxious to see how you groom a chin with a full coat particularly the ears as I have had all my chins with full and long coats. Cupcake was such a good boy and so wonderful.

    • @DogPawBlog

      Thank you for watching!! I probably won't have a video of him in long coat. Once they turn ten, I "retire" them from the breed-specific grooming.

    • @DogPawBlog
      @DogPawBlog  8 лет назад

      +vinya jacqui Skin on cats is very loose, and can be easily cut. I would recommend you take your cat to a professional groomer. If your cat will not be still, you may need to bring him/her to a vet so they can sedate your cat for the grooming.

    It is interesting that your Chin has a double coat! They are supposed to have a single coat. I'm a groomer and I never see double coated chins. Mine are single.

    • @DogPawBlog
      @DogPawBlog  8 лет назад +3

      Yes, poor Cupcake. I don't think his breeder was that concerned with genetics lol. He has luxating patellas, collapsed trachea, unicorn horn growth on his head, spondylosis, and had an umbilical hernia (repaired twice).

    • @aliceandrade8769
      @aliceandrade8769 6 лет назад

      Yes, Chin do are single coated and your Chin does appear to be single coated. Your poor Cupcake got hit with just about everything but I've never heard of Unicorn horn growth. What on earth is that?

    japanese chins should never be cut like this. they are dogs that need full hair. First thing my vet told me never take her to a groomer for cutting. You cut her tail and she will never grow that back. weekly brushing and a little trim around the bum is as far as it goes. Check out the dog show chins and they all have full beautiful coats.

    • @DogPawBlog
      @DogPawBlog  6 лет назад +3

      Hi. Yeah, I definitely do not keep my senior chin in a full show coat. As far as cutting the fur and it not growing back, I haven’t had that experience. It always grows right back
