The mini's sounded better in every position. Great video.
I'm surprised by how much I like the Rivolta.
I think the Rivolta and Strat would sound good played together.
I've been wondering this for weeks now. I've never played a mini-HB guitar, but I have a strong preference for playing on humbuckers and when I had my strat I did 90% of my playing on positions 2 and 4. Now I'm convinced a triple miniHB is the guitar I want. Great content as always!
Thanks Ciro! You enjoy those triple minis ;)
Beautiful playing. Just what I was looking for. Thank you.
thank you Anthony!
Sir, the real magic here is your tone in general. I know you're using guitar rig 5 in this, but you should consider making some videos delving into how you dial in your amps and effects. I'm not sure if it's just intuition for you or if you have a method, but whatever it is, it's working and I want to learn it.
My Mondata is supposed to come in tomorrow and I'm stoked. I only hope to make it sound as good as you.
thanks so much for the compliments Justin! maybe i can cook up a "deep dive" like that soon :)
enjoy your new guitar! i know you'll sound great
The Mondata has a very diverse tonal palette with that double switching system. It's not going to duplicate the strat's clarity, though a treble bleed circuit can get a humbucker to sound single-coilesque if you pull the volume down to around 6 or so. I have them on my SG and LP. But, as is, the strat has more bite and clarity. However, that Mondata sounds great. The tone is very good, and I really liked the mellowness of the clean tones. Both gtrs give you a huge selection of tones for any need. Great video, thank you!
Got a loaded pickguard with 3 mini HBs arriving in a week. Cant wait
Dimarzio,seymour duncan,Gibson ??????
It’s not a strat but it does a nice job. I wonder about the scale length because it makes a difference the longer fender scale is much more chimey than a shorter Gibson scale.
In my ears the strat was way more open and airy. The Humbuckers sounded more boxy, compressed. Both sound great but very different. The differences became less appearent with the dirty sound (especially position 4). I guess if you rolled off some gain and mids on the amp I couldnt tell the difference in a mix.
...I absolutely agree.
@Jens yea I agree, "more open and airy" is a great description
Most of that is scale length
Excellent band you have there, cheers to the unsung! Once you said 'clarity and snap', nothing will match the Strat for that. I'd call the Strat more a jack of all trades, with the Mondata there's not much in the way of different tones for different situations. It does it's own thing well, but that's it. And really, Mondata doesn't need the 3 pups, two would be enough whereas 3 pups in the Strat offer a lot of versatility, and especially with a bridge humbucker. lt's been a fun watch checking the Mondata out, thanks!
Two different tones period. Both great!
Both sound good, I think if the mini humbucker's could be split, the tones would be even closer. I think in the mix, the start wins with it's extra clarity on the high frequencies.
Yea def both good for sure.. I agree, the Rivolta just doesn't have that extra presence covered.. Not bad tho
No, it does not sound the same at all, but of course it will do the job just fine! I love the look of that Rivolta, but it seems really neck heavy from afar? Nice band Joey, regards to the rest of the guys LOL
Haha thanks J I'll pass it on to the guys.
@@joeytheguitarplayer the strat sounds like it's being played in an empty room all the time. Very Hollow and high pitch. Absolutely no low-end, empty in the middle and just overly hot on the treble. The Strat sounds like a guy at the bar you'd want to punch in the face for talking out of his boots. The triple Mini humbuckers sound fully matured and full grown.
2:54 is that riff from a song and if so which?
not bad eh? 😎 it's from a song my buddy wrote called "dragon's breath in cm"
@@joeytheguitarplayer where can i listen to it?
This is NOT a substitute for a strat. It could be a good guitar for playing blues, but not as authentic. Lacks sufficient quack and brightness for country music.
After so many decades of enormous popularity..it seems to me that the Strat has become a boring and predictable guitar! mini humbuckers and P90s are current again!
And the winner…the Revstar! 😅
