I know right I hope other people like it too. I like the fact of repairing and restoring a saw that you can't really find parts for anymore and when it runs that's is a good high!!!
Very nice jobs sir, do you have the video of installing the piston in the cylinder of the 3400 , I’m having a hard time installing it and don’t want to break them
There were a lot of little parts and you cleaned that up pretty good. That air filter has to be the dirtiest I've ever seen, but you probably have seen worse. This was interesting to watch. Nice job Andrew. Great video brother.
@@RepairGang Your very welcome buddy. I figured you've seen worse. Oh I bet they are tiny I just don't know how you do it brother, but you are very good at what you do.
Actually, after you did the rebuild, the cutting wasn't impressive, but the log wasn't up in a position to show its abilities. If I didn't know better I'd say it had a very dull chain. I bought my first 3400 in about 1980, and I have 3 now that's been sitting for years, maybe decades. From what I can remember, my first one cut a lot better than the one you demonstrated here. I'd love to get at least one of these running again but I'm just on the verge of being mechanically inclined. I'll probably just keep running my 2 Echos.
@Repair Gang tough luck. I was able to find a cylinder from a craftsman 3.7. I guess i am alright with a upgrade. Just need the piston and needle bearings.
Man I wish you would of shown how hard it was to put the piston back in. I would of burned it to the ground. Everything the chainsaw the garage the house everything.
Just got a 3400 and 4000 excited to use this video for reference! Thanks for adding the parts in the description
Poulan use 40-1 mix. Great cleanup and repair video.
Thank you. I normally run 50 to 1 and everything they blow up. They blow up most of the time they don't though lol
I agree with You and that is what I do and it’s 25 years old
There is that certain satisfaction about doing a total rebuild like that 👊

Could you refer the Mariel you used for the gasket?

Good job... Tigers are closer than you think Las Vegas isn't that far. Those Magicians might make one appear.
You never know my friend
Better lighting and lubing the cylinder/rings. Also, how much dirt got down in the crankcase while it was open?
Probably alot of dirt and stuff
Chain looked blunt asf😂
For real it was
I was stalling at the end of the vid, did it seize up? What happened?
Great video!
Well thank you glad you enjoyed it for my first video cutting wood
Love your videos 📹
Thank you kindly I think this is my first video where I cut wood with a chainsaw I going to start testing and using every item I repair
Mine is about 35 years old … and still working!!! 😉
Hell yeah 👍
Mine is 25 plus and great machine
Just carb kits and air filters
What size chain does it take?
18 inch I think
@RepairGang got it, thanks. It's a 3/8 pitch .050 gauge 66 link chain.
Does anybody sell a replacement cylinder for these saws?
Damn. That's really hard to find my guy. I recommend eBay would probably be the best place. I'm going to look and see if I can't find something
