Hi Sean. You can freeze mushrooms if you sauté them and then spread them on some parchment paper in a single layer and put them in the freezer. Once they’re frozen, put them in a freezer bag and pop them in the freezer I do this all the time and they don’t really need to be defrosted, they’ll thaw while they’re in with the eggs or sauce. I use them this way in my stroganoff sauce all the time. 👍🇨🇦

To save money I collected sticks from the local woods it saved me nearly £10:00.instead of bamboo canes.
A flannel in the sink until you fix the drip, mlnes been working for about 2 years now, maybe i’ll fix it next week. First a cuppa tea.
I bet you are not on a water meter, any drips even from the nose and you get it fixed! They are a total pain in the anus, especially when you see the pollution the water companies cause by pumping untreated effluents into our rivers and their profits, We have trouble with the rain drains in my road and although the water doesn’t flood our properties, it comes up through the tarmac after a downpour and puts it 2 fingers up at us as it passes our houses and water meters outside each house!!
That's so easy & cheap to fix tho'. Just find yourself a You Tube tutorial. I've learnt so much DIY by watching qualified professionals on YT.😊
You ask is it straw or hay? Just remember straw is bedding and hay is feed for livestock 😊. My husband was asking just the other day. Your probably wondering "who cares"? The cows and horses do. 😊
Every meal even just a sandwich should be eaten at the table it's better for you and your gut. Straw is the stems from cereal crops wheat, barley rice etc hay is cut and dried grass

We, like you Sean, thought not being at work (early retirement) would afford us a more relaxing life style. Goodness knows whom I’m kidding there is always plenty going on in the village.
Sunday is pretty much the same as yours, cuppa & breakfast. And we have our “day” pyjamas on 😂 honestly aged 61 hubby and I are a right pair. But we have both spent our years working hard and raising the children. So, why not we say.
The kitchenette looks lovely in the alcove if it is its final place of course 😂

Good morning Caroline, I live in Southport, just few miles up the road, have a lovely holiday in the UK!
Picture of you on the bike, made me laugh, reminded me of a friend of mine in high school (close to 50 years go) wanted to build a hang glider, so he had asked his priest if he could harvest some of the churches bamboo, of course he needed away to transport it, so he convinced another friend to take us in his VW bug.
The best way for in our mind to carry the bamboo was to open up the sunroof stick the bamboo through leaving the ends sticking out over the front and the guy whose project it was to sit in the back seat and hold on to it. (I can't remember if we had a line tied to the end sticking out and down to the front bumper) We were headed home with probable 2 dozen long pieces sticking out through the roof, not sure why the guy driving decided to make a right turn but there was a guy walking in the cross walk and the bamboo just cleared his head, of course there just happened to be a cop right there, so the driver got a lecture on pedestrians having the right away and a ticket for an improperly flagged load. Oh buddy never did get the hang glider built
I had a prop-up stick for my clothesline for the large stuff like sheets. Just a long thin board with a notch in one end that the line lays in.

Sean get your self a bread maker there will be a recipe book with different recipes very easy to setup keep up the good work
Find yourself a You Tube tutorial for the dripping tap Sean. Its a very easy & cheap fix.
That tap needs a washer Sean but I think you have to turn off the water to fix it. If you put a basin in the sink to collect the excess water and throw it on the window boxes maybe 🤔

Don't bother with the olive tree Sean! Been there, done that, not worth the effort as we just don't have the climate! If you do manage to get any fruits on them they are so bitter - apparently, they have to be processed somehow before you can use them. Quicker and cheaper just to get a bottle from the supermarket!

B+M are a lot cheaper for all those containers than John Lewis!! That tap should get sorted asap, as that will send your water

I'm recently discovered M+S 35 hour sourdough, it's £4 which is outrageous but frankly it's the loveliest loaf ever, and there's no bloating at all, my stomach seems to love it too. Cheers Sean
Mushrooms are so low in calories Sean that you can pile your plate up! I find them a great food to bulk up a meal without adding tonnes of calories. If you put them in the sun (that’s the yellow ball that occasionally sits in the sky) they will contain more vitamin D. I also eat large portions but these days I just make sure 50% of my plate is salad/veggies and reduce the portion on my protein & starch carbs.
There is something very civilised about having a pot of tea

Put a dot of nail polish or paint on the front hob dials. Also, maybe get one of those whiteboard weekly task calendars and write your weekly tasks on it as a reminder. Grocery, market. Etc.

I buy mushrooms in bulk from the supermarket. Slice them and freeze in bags. They cook up lovely

Comments about washing mushrooms. Some say never wash. This is true when you wash and then store the mushrooms. Mushrooms washed and then used immediately seem to be ok. Seems mushrooms are very porous and absorb the water if not dried completely before storing. They won’t crisp up and are easy to rot. Wiping off with a damp paper towel is recommended.
I find it’s better to sauté mushrooms in a little olive oil and garlic before freezing them because of their high water content. When frozen fresh, they just come out soggy and mushy when thawed.
Your corner of the world is SO beautiful!!! Wales is one of the places I’ve always wanted to visit--the land, the people, and the language have always fascinated me. MANY years ago when I was a young, almost-teenager, I had a pen pal who lived in Cardiff. THAT’S how old I am, that I actually lived back in the day when people sat down and hand-wrote letters and cards with full sentences and punctuation and bought stamps to MAIL them in envelopes halfway round the world to someone I had never met!!! We corresponded for 3 or 4 years until we both sort of aged-out of pen pals and aged into becoming teenagers. 🤷♀️ I often think of her and still have the doll she sent me with clothing someone had crocheted and dressed in traditional Welsh style. I have no idea how many moves and closet cleanings that little doll has survived, but she is one of my prized possessions. 🙂

I recently took 40 8ft canes to my allotment 2 miles away on my bike. Strapped to the cross bar I looked like a star wars speeder (ha ha). The bike trailer has transported compost bins, water butts and even a wheel barrow! Motorists give you a wide berth (ha ha). All the best mate.
My breakfast is normally perpetual spinich steamed then poach an egg in the steamer water.Homegrown spinich n comunity garden eggs.

Put the sponge in a container or bowl and have stored water
My mornings consist of grinding my own coffee beans. Then I used 2 egg shells or 3. Wash them dry them, put them in the bottom for the filter. To make the coffee taste more cream. It's perfect. I drink tea too. The coffee is my favorite but I love watching you making your tea. 😊
Really enjoy your chatting away, its a welcome relief from all that's going on in the world. Time though to get the guy who's supposed to clear away his stuff from the homestead to krank it up a notch, otherwise how can you start planting etc.

I have 3 daughters and am a carer for my eldest, so am always needed for something , by someone, whatever day it is ..I do try to get one day for myself in the week.. Hope you get your plants safely to the homestead.

As my partner has a shop in Barmouth Sunday is just another working day. Luckily the shop is closing in the Autumn after twenty one years so we can both retire...I already have so Sunday is a gardening day for me!
On sundays i go to church a very lively evangelical church love catching up with friends .then i go home and enjoy my day pottering around or just chilling x but im also busy with 4 grandchildren that stay every weekend x

On a Sunday we often to pop down to the Dee Estuary near Mostyn to photograph the waders & then pop to Abakhan for hobbies supplies & a nice Sunday lunch or pop up to Llyn Brenig, so much wonderful scenery up here.

Olive oil does NOT have a long shelf life, so if you only use it once in a while, buy a smaller bottle+ make sure to check the expiration date.
I used to place my washing up sponge under the drippy tap, I always kept the plughole clear though.

Don’t waste your time with slow cooker bread - I’ve tried it a couple of times and it’s very disappointing

You can freeze mushrooms, but you should cook them first. Also will you be growing rhubarb at your homestead. It will be very interesting to watch and follow you doing sourdough bread, I have done just normal bread but haven't attempted my favourite sourdough bread. I was thinking a couple of solar lights in you back garden would look nice amongst you lovely colourful flowers. 🐈⬛🐈⬛🍞💐
I work 2 in 3 Sundays as I'm a Care Assistant but don't mind as off during the week and I prefer that as quieter everywhere! The lunch box containers you are looking for Sean were in Sainsbury's as I bought one and its v good. Hope you find one. Your cottage and garden is looking lovely. I'm decorating my back bedroom so that's keeping me busy atm 😊

The large on the mushroom means one large mushroom, it’s there incase you can’t weigh it, so your able to guess around about the calories. A portion of fruit or veg is 80g, if dried it’s 30g.
Why don’t you get a frozen delivery from Iceland I’m sure you can get frozen mushrooms
Home made mushroom soup is gorgeous Sean & very low in calories add a veg stock cube & some light cream cheese ....bootiful !! Also did you add your olive oil calories to you breakfast menu & all those cups of tea = milk all adds up you have to add everything Sean !! ... ..you did well on the bike with the canes & lovely to see the cats .. .. x
You need a clothesline pole to hold it up. When I over in Manchester that saved my clothes a ton of tines.
We are coming to terms with a very different Sunday. For the last fourteen years ours Sunday's have revolved around our son's rugby, starting with minis at U6 when he was four through all those age grades and into Colts at U18, then last September he went off to University. Ironically after your earlier video he's at Salford .....but I digress.
So we've been routineless for nearly a year.
Mostly it's sort the dogs potter around in the garden go for drives out. We are being wild no fixed agenda 😂

Eindkorn flour, wonderful, I use it all the time, Cranks old recipe. Second hand books still available. Cranks vegetarian classics. Just one knead does it. Allotment is so good for slow mo and grounding.
My ole dad used to put a sponge or dish cloth in the sink to catch and stop the sound of the drip drip drip 💦

I would like to see how you grow mushrooms. I have a cold house so I am not sure I could grow them. when I went to chelsea physic garden there was a stall that had a variety of interesting mushrooms. you can freeze mushroom pate using ice cube moulds
I chop and freeze mushrooms all the time, and just add them frozen to casseroles and omelettes at the very end. Works for me !
I have not seen one swallow or house martin here on the east coast.

Yes, you CAN freeze mushrooms. I think they pretty much have to be cooked when you defrost them, but that's ok. I've purchased frozen, seasoned, sautéed mushroom for sauces, and they were great. BTW, you mentioned earlier putting in a greenhouse in that small space at your back door. Possibly could you include a shelter for your bike there so it wouldn't be such a pain to get out?
It would be even more of a pain to put it outside because it's an electric bike so would have to build a shelter but I'll try it to see how the method of getting it in and out works.
Loved today Sean , like seeing you bit more chilled. Did you put your oil in the app? I use olive oil as the benefits are fabulous , but quite high on the app. Loved the bike 💪 🦋

I have breakfast standing in the kitchen and watch the birds while the squirrel tries to steal their food, often at 7 in the morning because my dog wants to go out and chase the fox from the chicken.
Hard not to admire anyone who lives without a car and works an allotment.

Until you get tap fixed, place a dishcloth where drip lands in sink, helps stop that annoying sound.

when I go out I take a bento box with me, with lots of compartments. It is more of a fun way to eat healthy. I have to go on a low cholestrol diet I am using a calorie weightloss app but 'doing swaps'. I am not sure i would be good with smaller portions at all!, i may look at vegan cheeses to see if they are more low calorie
You could cut up your potatoes into the oven in the shape of chips you use less oil and it saves waste and have them with your sausage’s heatly meal with some beans 🐝🧵🐝
NEVER buy beans from Waitrose, was blowing for days! haha
