Petey needs to shoot more this season and start skating on the powerplay. Last year he was barely over 200 shots but he was 250+ the year before, really surprised to see less shots in a contract negotiating season. He sits in a shooting position on the powerplay but doesn't shoot or move his feet. I don't want to judge him on this years performance but it looks a lot like the previous year which was a huge regression from the year before that
what is petey gona do now? how is he gona get back on the horse? is he done for, or just havin' a slow start...who's to say
Last year when Joshua went down, this team slid. Aaaaaand Joshua is out now. Can this team not play without Joshua??
Loui Eriksson had a better contract than EP40. That says a lot.
I agree reuniting the Lotto Line to hopefully ignite Petey would be a smart move. He just seems to be lacking confidence in his game. Momentum is a huge aspect in sports and it applies to individual performances as well.
A player making 11.6 shouldn't need to be babied. He should be able to play with ANYONE and make THEM better, not the other way around.
@@user-ld6wo4rv8h I definitely agree, but maybe he just needs to get his confidence back first. He needs to be reminded that he is that player who can get 100 points even playing with guys like Kuzmenko & Mikeyhev. I think he probably did have a knee injury, but it's become mostly mental at this point. You can tell from his -interviews that he is a mild-mannered Swede who needs his externally boosted confidence in order to become dominant.
When Petey is off his game, he looks so ordinary and get ends up on his bitt on a check to his back.

If Pettersson were a top player he could play, and produce, with anybody. That's what top players do. Pettersson's problem seemingly is he can't play, and produce, with anyone anymore

As a longtime Canucks fan, I knew this season was going to be all about Elias Petterson. The decision to make him one of the Top 10 Highest Paid players in the NHL right now ---- right up there with McDavid, Matthews, McKinnon, Ovechkin, Nylander and others --- was a mistake. Petterson is not worth it. He is not at that level and it's "Wishful Thinking" to believe he will get there. However, if he suddenly explodes and starts scoring goals and making assists and turns into the franchise team leader that management is betting on ---- then I will have to eat my words. But I am not a believer in "Wishful Thinking" in NHL hockey ---- and unfortunately I predict that in a couple of months there's going to be a whole lot of criticism of Petterson.
It’s not really wishful thinking though he proved over years worth of time he was in the same group as the best players in the NHL. This slump feels like it should be more of a career outlier than the norm. But I have to admit it’s concerning he returned from a whole off season still not looking right.
EP40 was overpaid but still should be a useful player -expectations have to be lowered maybe a 70 point guy -the coach will eventually stop trying to match his contract with his role-sprong looks lost out there--use this part of the season to sort these new players out -happy with a wild card berth
How the heck do you go from 100 point player to maybe 70 when he’s still just 25 years old??
