We actually do have a ton of places in the US that do adiam bbq that looks like this (kbbq, Japanese bbq, Chinese/Filipino skewer bbq). I’ve never seen a bbq for just one person tho so that’s cool. The places I go to have a 2 person minimum lol

Looks nice! You shouldn't use the same gripper for both raw and cooked meat though due to cross-contamination.

to be fair, this is Japan. The hygiene standards for raw meat there are extremely high. It's certainly much safer there then most other countries to use the same utensils for both the raw and cooked meat!

I have tried something like this and they call it "Korean BBQ" and it was buffet.
Can choose from any meat to seafood and vegetables.
from Japan. Thank you for the delicious image. However, there is one problem (probably there was no Japanese clerk). In yakiniku provided by Japan, the tongs are for raw meat to prevent food poisoning such as O-157, so please use chopsticks instead of tongs for the baked meat.

Nope. Thought the same thing. Raw meats should be handled by different utensils than cooked meat, and raw beef should be handled with different utensil than raw chicken. Cross contamination!

It's normalized in eastern countries because they are mostly lonely. Japan has a high suicide rate and many people there are lonely, live in their workplace, tiny apartments, etc. Because working super hard is pretty much normalized, and everything else is seen as a waste, people spend more time inside than outside

I'm pretty sure 'yakiniku' came from Korea, as in the form of 'Korean BBQ'. Even yakiniku itself was originated by the Korean migrants who sold cheap parts of a cow in 1-person restaurant to sustain their life.

1.) you do the cooking, no kitchen staff to do it for you besides cut it.
2.) all of those cuts were SUPER cheap cuts. Even the Wagyu was cut so thin you loose the great flavor of it. Never cut waygu thin.
This was fancy fast food grade food in a restaurant.
Food definitely not worth that price.

This is amazing! It is very different from the way we barbecue in my country. Here in Brazil, we usually cut the slices of meat as thick as possible. I would have to eat a lot more than you to make me feel satisfied 😂😂
