Used mine for a while now. It's the best form factor. People need to look past it being a tablet. It's not super portable due to its high specs and power consumption making it have shorter battery life than an ipad or android tablet. You need to view this as an everything device. I use this as a literal gaming desktop pc via a usb c dock connected to a suite of peripherals and a 40" gaming monitor. I do my dayjob and run several businesses off this thing whilst using it also as a plug and play media centre on my home tv for apps or streaming services that I can't access on the TV. Ofc i also play some games (mostly fps) on it every now and then. It is a full on entertainment media centre for me.. I also use it to entertain my kids and let them watch shows on it both as a desktop and on the go. They can also draw on it. The idea is being super powerfully spec'd for a sub 1kg device and having insane connectivity and portability to boot. It really is a jack of all trades. It's very easy to address the battery consumption. It charges off usb c. That's readily available everywhere now. Even in my cars.
I mean, not much more expensive than the surface pro 8. Also do you have any experience with using a stylus on it? I’m thinking about getting one to write notes on and occasionally do some rendering if need be
My only worry is I decide to get this and bam next year they come out with a better more refined version. Lol I know that happens with tech every year but it just kills me. I may spring for it though, does everything I'd ever do with a laptop and more.
I get you - I'm lucky, I'm upgrading from a (venerable and well-used) Surface Pro 6 i7 16GB to this, and I never really gamed on that, I used it for Prem Pro / AfterEffects at 1080 and some fairly heavy duty astrophotography processing with hundreds of 25MP RAW files (which it handled, but with a bit of struggle). For gaming, I have a (still functioning!) first-gen PS4 - the leap from both of those use-cases to this is going to be phenomenal! If you have something that works for you, for now, then hold out. You're probably right - in a year or so's time, there'll be another iteration - or indeed, competitors might wake up and produce something similar and / or better. But... if you're in that sweet spot where you've been thinking of upgrading for a while, that your console is definitely going to croak, or your intensive-task skillset is screaming out for a dedicated GPU and therefore it won't be a marginal upgrade, then they've just dropped the price 👀 Just my two-pence's worth, but I can't stop humming "Happy Christmas to me"
i'm with you. i only found out about this a couple months ago and im waiting/hopign for a better version. either that has 32gb of ram, longer battery life and or somethign that makes the current version drop in price significantly to justify its limitations compared to a full blown laptop.
I think if there was a controller I could pop on the side it would be much much better... Just set it on my lap with the controller attached not heavy...
DO NOT BUY! Battery is horrible when simply browsing online - 1.5 HOURS MAX. Gaming on battery is useless - 30/45 mins max on older games like Skyrim. MGS5 ran for 30 mins. Stuck/dead pixels and heavy for tablet use. It's useless. I returned mine after 3 days.

I picked one of these up for 1300 recently and I couldn't be happier with it for that price.

thanks for de video

When comparing to the surface pro 8, I don’t understand why some people think this is overpriced.
Agreed, this comes with the keyboard which is a $250 accessory for the surface pro.
