You know, Magic reminds me of a horse at the stable I ride at! His name is Harold, but he has no mane, just skin, no fur. Its scary! Love you! And well done being confident and getting back up on him after the fall. ❤
@Ava The Equestrian Akhal-Tekes do actually have fur! There is a disease that occurs in foals called Naked Foal Syndrome and it follows them into adulthood. That's probably what the horse is :)
Omg I honestly love that fall. It's pretty great the you just sort of slipped off. It was actually a great ride other than that. Also, Magic doesn't even rush jumps anymore! It's amazing!!! Also, if anyone is interested I'm a small RUclips channel just started and would love some guidance and pointers. Thank you!
Great riding! Magic is so cute! You are so lucky you get the opportunity to ride him on a regular basis. To answer your question of the day, I think my funniest fall was just over a year ago. I was riding a paint gelding named Dakota, who is a bit clumsy. We were cantering on the rail, and all of a sudden he crossed his feet over on the corner and just fell over! Nothing actually really happened, he didn’t buck or rear or do anything naughty, he just fell😂 I was perfectly fine and so was Dakota, but the girl who owns him told me after my lesson that he had done the same him to her too! Gosh, riding clumsy horses is so fun but also frustrating at the same time!
Something I've always loved and will continue to love about you is how much you talk to the horse you're riding! They respond to your vocal cues so well, watching their ears flick back and forward as you talk to them is so cute! Keep up the awesome work and amazing riding😁
Watching this video gave me so much anxiety. I feel like every time i’ve ever had my horse rushing fences she either runs straight into them, dodges out last minute, or throws me. I’ve been riding little under 3 years now and we used to go galloping in the field for ages and now if i let her above a canter she freaks. (it’s not health related, she is squeaky clean in that department) my confidence has plummeted from all the falling(lol) but one day i really do hope to be able to just hop over these little fences without having a panic attack first :) You ride so well and i love watching these helmet cam videos hopefully one day i can ride carefree again :D
You and Magic were great today! At my most recent lesson it was so hot we weren’t allowed in the school or paddock so we got to go on a lovely hack instead 😊
Hey ponycam I know I’m late but I love ur channel also you earned another subscriber🙂 And my funniest fall was when I was riding this pony named Kell he had a really big stomach and I was jumping him And when I go to jump he refueses and I hit my back against the pole but I wasn’t hurt and I got a good laugh anyways (kell was fine) Edit:OMG I DIDNT THINK YOU WOULD ACTUALLY REPLY THANK YOU🙏❤️💜❤️
QOTD: On my birthday last year in mid October, my barn was having a 2 day mounted and on the ground self defense clinic. Naturally, I rode my mule. On the second day of the clinic, my birthday, we were all on our horses(or mule in my case) and were working on reaching for a soda can atop a barrel without moving our outer leg position. I was having some trouble, when someone told me to use my crop to grab the can. The person was much older than myself, so I figured, what was the worst that could happen? Boy was I in for a surprise. So, I stuck the handle of my crop into the opening in the can. I held it up and balanced it on my crop. It was then that all hell broke loose, and my mule spooked and galloped straight through a row of horses and riders. So, there I was, reins on the buckle, one hand holding up a scary and rattling can, galloping towards the fence. Everyone told me to drop the crop. Instead, I accidentally threw it IN FRONT OF THE MULE. He ducked out, and at that point we were beside the fence. Just as he ducked out, I flew hip-first into the wooden rails. A fun day it was. All and all, I was okay and so was my mule. My worst, and funniest fall yet. Bonus: Once about 2 years ago, I was riding a lesson pony, just going into the trot when I felt very sick. Moments later, at the trot, there I was, fainted over the pony’s shoulder. He stopped, and my trainer pulled me out of the saddle. Then, everyone stared screaming and stuff as I continued to faint from the heat and being dehydrated. Yep.
I love the fact that i'm pretty sure you swore when you fell. To be honest when i fell off once i swore straight away and then hit my back on the jump ;-; keep up your great work
Answer to the QOTD: I was out on a hack on a very food-oriented Welsh pony called Sparky. It was my first time off the lead rein on a hack, so I was very excited. Unfortunately, Sparky saw some grass and decided to plow his head down and eat it! I was pulled down by the momentum and got stuck with my legs in the air while Sparky tried to eat the grass, but I was still stuck leaning against his neck! My instructor got a good laugh out of the situation, and so did I after I managed to get unstuck 😂 I was only 10 at the time, but years later now I'm still able to laugh about it whenever I see Sparky (who is now unfortunately too small for me) :)
Funny fall...most of them. The most memorable had to be while riding Pat, a grey Welsh pony cross. A friend and I were out bareback and cut through the woods to get to the field. She was in the lead on her POA, and I thought she was going to hold a branch back out of the way long enough for Pat to get through. She didn't and it swung back and smacked him in the face. I'm not really sure what happened -- he must have reared -- because the next thing I know, I'm on the ground behind him and my friend was totally shocked. Got a mild concussion out of it, but with horses it's par for the course. Besides, look of shock on my friend's face made it all worth it.
I nearly fell off Painter at the side door yesterday. Mid trot he decided to do a sudden stop throwing me forwards then backwards then I went to the side and nearly came off at the side door lol. Somehow managed to get back in the saddle.
My most funny (but also painful) fall was my first one ever. I was riding in a clinic and I was sick that day, but because I paid for it I wasn’t going to skip out. Usually my balance is amazing and I’ve managed to stick on during the most harrowing situations, to my extrainers astonishments. But that day I was very tired and I was jumping and I lost both of my stirrups and when I went around the corner after the jump I just flung off into the wall of the arena and slammed my head and back (I was wearing a helmet). The horse I was riding did absolutely nothing wrong, no spooks or anything, I just flew off. I was on the ground in pain for a good minute or 2 before I was helped up and got back on, and despite everything hurting I got back on and I finished off the clinic. The next day I woke up for school and I panicked because I physically could not move my neck, it didn’t hurt, it was just locked in place. After going to see a doctor and having an xray I find out that I just have whiplash and I’ll need to wear a neck brace for a whole week, no riding. It was a miserable time but I recovered 100% with no lasting damage of any kind.
I’ve haven’t fallen off yet and I’m kind of new to horse riding. But once the saddle starting slipping and I’m a bit shy so I didn’t tell my instructor because I thought it was me not being balanced. I didn’t fall off because my instructor told my leader to grab my leg. ( At the time I had a leader). And in my last lesson I was doing well in my rising trot so I was very tired after and when I got off normally, as soon as tried to walk my legs just gave out and I fell on my back! 😂
Wouldn't say it was funny but I was riding at college and the pony I was on spooked and cantered without me knowing and I came right off his right side. I lost balance completely
QOTD: This one isn't really funny, but one of my most painful. This was the time when I fell off almost every lesson 🙈! Me and the horse I was riding, Royce, were coming to a weirdly angled jump. So let's say we turned too soon and my foot got caught in the jump standerd lol. I still kinda hung on too Royce but still fell onto the hardest sand in the arena and bruised my tailbone☹
QOTD: It’s not amazing but a horse I was riding yesterday spooked at the plastic bottle my dad was giving me to drink from and it turned and galloped off and I fell (got concussion but should be fine) but the best but was I was still holding the bottle the whole time 😂
Em. Can I just say, you don’t have to act like you think you are a bad rider if you fall. It doesn’t matter if you fall, and if you do you just have to get back up on the saddle. Never give up with something you love ♥️
Qotd: I was riding a lovely bay called ted. I love him sm and riden him quite a few times before this fall. We were just casually trotting down the long side of the arena and got the the short, and he spooked at a BIRD and me not being ready for it went one way he went the other. Then we couldn’t catch him bcuz he learned to trot away after his rider fell off so yea 😂
QOTD: When i just started riding i rid on a pony called Robin. He's very cheecky, so we were just trotting and i lost one of my stirrups so i just slid off XD I was completely fine and it also was my first time falling off lol
Well this is my only fall so I was on a little pony called sally and when I was cantering I kicked her on too much she got excited and started galloping my feet came out of the stirrups and she was going straight for the wall then she skirted to the left and I can over the right side so ye
Cutiecorn island Please read the description, where I mention about struggling with riding straight to and after fences. It in an ingrained habit that Magic has that cannot be fixed overnight (but is already a lot better than it used to be) 😊
Try and have a more bouncy canter on the approach you going to fast towards them that’s why he’s going flat over them he needs to be able to spring not last minute leap xx
Yep, which is what we've been working on for the last few weeks. This horse has improved hugely in his jumping and flatwork since he first arrived at this yard (feel free to compare this video to those from the beginning of this year if you are not a regular viewer & haven't followed Magic's journey so far). The road to correct jumping form is a marathon, not a sprint, especially for a horse such as this who came from a hunting home where correct jumping technique, suppleness and steadiness aren't really necessary. Magic is improving every single week, one positive small step at a time and we are both trying our best :-)
