This guy was my first regular-sized Autobot car. The red Countach was arguably the quintessential '80s supercar. An added bonus was that Sideswipe's robot mode happened to look pretty good too, which couldn't be said for every figure back then. So nice to see my favorite G1 Autobot car after all these years.. even if it's a KO. Thanks Larkin!

I have this one and Sunstreaker. I'm genuinely impressed with the quality of those KO's. Might be a little looser and has a gap or two, but I love them. I can say that the quality of the stickers isn't there. I ordered the stickers from Toyhax, much better quality. My rub sign didn't work at all. But the figure is amazing, it's on my Lambros' shelf and it's magnificent. Great review Larkin, can't wait for the next one!

I mean as someone who grew up with these in the 80's that's excellent quality very similar to the original toys of the 80's they could be very easy to break so you usually guarded them from younger siblings and you would usually find some inconsistency between other friends versions
I was looking in to getting ko G1 but still a lot of money have found great ko masterpiece
I would totally love to have one of htese. This is the very first figure I ever got as a kid. I got him alone on Christmas morning, I think in 1984? maybe 85... He started my childhood love, and 30 years later my adulthood love of Transformers. Ironically, 200 figures roughly in, and I don't own a Sideswipe figure yet.
I can say that none of these KO's come with working rubsigns. They are always "fractured" in appearance. All of my original G1 figures rubsigns work fine. I guess they still can't reproduce them!
I bought mine for the boxes for display. The figures are not bad at all either. Some ticks but great if you just love Transformers and have some money to burn.

Do you know if these have Lead paint? I wanna get one but don't wanna risk anything.

excellent question! these are shipped one at a time, skirting the import inspections US toy companies are subject to and china puts lead in EVERYTHING

And how do you know that it is a knock-off (KO)? The box normally sports Hasbro's logo, the trademarked Transformers logo, and the name "Transformers" itself.
How would you tell a 'KO' and an official 're-issue' apart when buying them? Meaning, before you'd be able to inspect the toys themselves in hand.
A lot of the times the box print quality is not as sharp since it's a copy of a copy. If the box is in excellent condition a seller will also get it AFA graded. I'd be suspicious if the box was in excellent condition and not AFA graded and being sold at a high price. There are some protections if buying from a US seller as selling counterfeit goods as original is a federal crime.

My KO wheel jack is extremely nice can't tell the difference at all...my KO hound was nice but broke in tranformation...my sunstreaker was by far the worst
The paint quality on the original g1’s was iffy also.
So, I bought a few G1 KOs off Temu. In a word: crap.
I wanted to post here because your review convinced me to try Temu out and I don’t think you realize the quality isn’t good.
1. Shockwave: light/sound didn’t work, battery connector was falling apart, the top of his arm cannon fell off.
2. Prowl: wouldn’t transform due to molding and construction issues. I have the original for comparison.
3. Slag: this was the “best” of the bunch but also crap - major molding issues. The horns were super loose and felt like they were going to fall off.
Overall boxes: these are obvious counterfeit.

@@LarkinsLair yes, I watched. I just wanted to post so people are aware. Mine literally didn’t transform or work. I’m not complaining about slightly misaligned stickers here. Sorry if it came across as anything more than an FYI.
Also, in short: for me, the cost savings aren’t worth it. They are just too trashy. I’d rather spend money on the originals or a legitimate reissue (encore I think?) from hasbro.
@philexile2954 that’s a fair statement. I hope we get more official reissues. I’m really enjoying the g1 movie repaints
@@LarkinsLair agree! I was literally planning to buy a set of these KOs, so this was a bummer for me. The price was right and I feel like had they spent a little more time on getting the molds right, these could have filled a need for sure.
