Just started modding skyrim on PC, after coming from the Xbox. Let me tell you, the MOST annoying thing, is when you want to download a mod that requires 20 other mods. And some of those mods require 10 other mods, and some of those mods require 5 other mods, and 2 of those mods need srcipt extenders, and those require patches and updates etc etc... ugh.
There are multiple versions of Skyrim, Legendary Edition, Special Edition, and Skyrim VR. Each having its own SKSE version to run. If your on nexus, there is a Skyrim and Skyrim Special Edition page. You could be on the wrong Skyrim game mod section.
I've always used Nexus Mod Manager, and I was thinking of giving Vortex a try, but there seems to be several more steps than NMM requires, and that means more opportunities for things to go wrong. Vortex was supposedly reworked to make it more effective and less of an headache, but as the narrator says, NMM still seems like the more user-friendly choice. I'm going to try it and see what happens... (LATER): Just tried it, attempted to follow all steps from video, and couldn't get mods to appear in game. It's just not worth using when there are less finicky managers out there. I'm sticking with NMM.
It may depend on what your modding and this may be presumptuous of me, but I used Vortex not that long ago to mod Oblivion and it was easy to use and saw the mods listed on Vortex and I saw them in game, the problems I had is it kept saying that some of my mods were already downloaded. For example: I downloaded the Character Overhaul but I noticed the Khajiits still looked kind of bad even though I noticed an improvement in looks. I tried installing and uninstalling but unfortunately it wouldn't correct the look of the Khajiit compared to the video I followed that featured the Character Overhaul mod. So I downloaded Alternate Khajiit Texture for OCOv2, and it worked but then I got messages stating that the Character Overhaul had some of the texture mods from AKT already in it. The problem was that I didn't know how to choose which to run first and which one to run last, I didn't know how to remedy the issue and I tried to look up instructions on how, but I couldn't find any tutorials or How To in the download page for Vortex at all.
@@lifts-her-tail9096 if it is called a mod manager and only works for a particular game, that’s wrong. Vortex was one of the worst tool i had ever used. nothing works without additional manual work.
@@kupo3769 If I understand correctly, that's the first step, and now you need to go into Vortex and "enable" the mod, then "deploy" the mod. Both should be as simple as clicking a button with the action on it, and your settings may even allow one of those steps to happen automatically. There are definitely more knowledgeable folks out there to ask though. Good luck.
How do you run the game with the mod??? I installed the mods but there is no button to run the game from nexus. When I run the game from Epic, the mods doesn't load.
What the he'll is .NET 6.0+ i download it and it tells me it's not downloaded so it gives you a repair and it does nothing g anybody think they can help
This is extremely useful. I have Nexus Mod account and stuff. but I have not made use of the actual mod manager yet. but here soon I have big plans of modding more games. Including the one you even showed in the Video which is Skyrim specifically the VR edition as I've been told pretty much all the mods work in the VR Edition as well. I have beaten the original Skyrim and Played some of the Regular Special Edition. and Modded it some before But I am very interested In Trying the VR side of it. As it seems like it would be an Interesting Experience and add a new flavor to the experience. This is very helpful though as previous time I used Nexus Mods I downloaded only a couple mods for other games and did it Manually. So it's my first time actually Installing and using the Manager. So this is a Good rundown of what to expect and what it looks like.
Do you have an answer to people whose plugins are enabled but whenever they boot up the game they turn off? It's a proper issue for me, some mods don't work and some do. I think it's to do with plugins.
Newbie to the pc world. I followed all the steps and have enabled a mod, but it doesn’t show up in game. (I’ve deployed it as well). Not sure what I’m doing wrong.
after two days of researching demos on yt, reading tons of forums and applying all provided information to my vortex nexus app, the plugins tab still does not show on my list.
I can't get this dang thing to work for me. The files are downloaded as a zipped file and when I try to have them detected vortex doesn't want to detect them! No matter where I add them nor if I extract them from the file. I am so confused and all I want to do is get back onto Fallout 4 and finish a build that I was doing with the mods I had back in 2020 now that I have a PC that will actually handle anything!
So I have Skyrim installed and it says on Vortx that the game is not discovered and hasnt been automatically discovered. How do I manually set the file and how do I make it do it automatically?
how did you get to the screen at 1:40? I saw another guy here when explaining how to link this game to the fallout script extender, but I had no clue how to get to this screen via Nexus (Vortex) mod manager.
Are you sure that you installed and enabled the texture pack? Also what mod would you be using? Skyrim HD isn't very complete. You might be in an area without updated textures. Noble Skyrim offers way more coverage I switched to it myself.
Got a question hope you can help me with, I don't know when it started but I suspect on the last Nexus Mod Manager update for my Skyrim SE. Usually I could deactivate my mods then reactivate them to be given the option of re-configuring them. That no longer works for a mod like "360 Walk and Run Plus AND YY Animations SSE" for example. I don't know if this is a NMM settings issue. Or would I be better off using Vortex if I ever want to change the options of my installed mods? For any advice on this problem, thanking you in advance.
I used NMM myself, it should bring the Menu up every time. On Vortex you have an option to reinstall. I would attempt an uninstall and install. If it doesn’t work I’m not sure. I didn’t even know NMM was still supported. I highly recommend learning Vortex or Mod Organizer 2.
@@TheMorokei Thanks for the recommendation. While NMM leaves a bit to be desired, it has up until now performed consistently for me. As anyone with experience with game mods knows, it only takes one bad download to screw over hours gameplay progress. But in this case, it may be time to move on and try something new. Appreciate your video on the topic and the quick reply. 👍
No worries I hated switching at first. Luckily Vortex isn’t that far behind other Managers as NMM was. But again it is simplified and lacks more complex control trading for automation. Vortex is a hand holder, while MO2 is more stable but a little bit more complex. My personal opinion download both and look at which one you like.
Great video man, I was wondering if Im able to use mods from nexus at the same time as mods from steam workshop and/or the direct in game mods? Will this cause a problem?
It’s possible, but complications can be revealed quickly. Try to use the steam workshop as little as possible, and carefully read the requirements. It may be hard to detect a conflict, as the mods are managed at different locations. It would make things very messy.
Just want to confirm. Are we supposed to download each of the multiple main files to make this work? Or are we just downloading the latest at the top of the list?
Help! So i accidentally deleted a vortex mod through the in game mod manager. I accidentally thought they were the old mods i had downloaded initially and had since deleted. When i went to vortex and redeployed the mods it said blah blah file was deleted, do you want to revert back? I said yes. But my fear is that i accidentally deleted actual mod files and not just the link. Through the in game mod manager, do you think all i did was delete the mod link? Or the actual mod itself? I'm paranoid several hours down the road my game will become unstable because my dumb self deleted something important. Game runs fine atm and i don't remember which file specifically i told the game to delete
So, I have my account open with Vortex open but it does not give me the option "download with Vortex", it only gives me the option of "Download manually" Where do you extract the files to? Edit: Also, I have many many games on my system. But it detects none of them, even after a full scan.
Thank you for the video :) it was very educational to me as a beginner lol can you do one over stardew mods? Im having trouble with it since i had to download a mod call SMAPI and idk what to do
