    Totally binge watched the whole series! Appreciate the effort to put this together and get it out there. I literally never watch TV, only RUclips and I have to say, this is the best travel series out there! Massive well done. p.s Lina, you are so right about Myanmar (Burma), my favourite place on the planet! Beautiful country and people. Looking forward to Series 3 but in the meantime, I'm gonna check out series 1. Peace

    You're doing well to maintain relationships like that on the road. It can be really testing and is not uncommon for friendships to dissolve. I personally prefer to travel alone these days. Nice to catch up with friends for a short time but not constantly. Like most things in life has plus and minuses. Looking forward to returning to Chiang Mai early next year. My home away from home. A question for Lina:
    During the 2. series you were accompanied by two men. But if you had been by yourself would you have done:
    a) hitchhiking ?
    b) couchsurfing with a male host ?
    I love the budgeteering way to travel and I love your videos! You guys said you wanted to show that a girl can do it as well - for sure!:) But I feel like it isn't possible as a solo female traveller by herself...

    Love that you three are doing these Q&A videos, great stuff!
    I've got a question for you; is teaching English in SE Asia with TEFL/TESOL certification but no degree possible? Is it ethical?
    I'm a writer and an avid reader, so I know the English language like the back of my hand. Though when I think about getting the certification and trying to find a job abroad, I start convincing myself I'd be cheating these people out of a proper education since I don't have a degree.

    • @amberlovely1
      @amberlovely1 7 лет назад +1

      I'm getting my TEFL in November and I've wondered the same thing. I'm not sure about SE Asia, as I think many countries there require a degree, but there are a LOT more countries you can teach in without a degree and many online companies as well.

    • @TheBudgeteers
      @TheBudgeteers  7 лет назад +1

      its possible and ethical. I am qualified but teachers who aren't can and are sometimes better.

      @patrickhart1325 7 лет назад

      Hey Paddy, at least, I THINK it's Paddy I'm replying to, I 100% understand and agree with that concern.
      However, (and please note that I've been a broadcaster with a comms background since 1990,) it's all in how you approach the issue. As an example, if you were to provide an avenue for those with Ad Blocker, to be able to submit a "Guilt Offering", then you would be absolved of whatever "hand out" stigma you've mentioned.
      That's just one of dozens of differently spun scenarios you can use - and I don't mean to press this issue, I really don't. But it does seem to me that you have a significant fan base (yours truly included) who greatly appreciate what you've done, are looking forward to what's ahead and want to do what they can to financially assist you, Thijs and Lina in the most expedient and efficient way possible.
      If the shirt option is the only way, then so be it. It just seems to me, a Canadian, that if I'm paying $55 CDN for you 3 to go out and show me places, peoples, and cultures on this planet that I probably will never have the chance to visit, but truly have an interest in, and you're only receiving $15, maybe $20 tops, then there's something wrong with that model.
      I love you guys. I love your videos! The production quality. The drama. The beautiful images from exotic locations! I just wish there was something more I could do to give you all a leg up. I'm also pretty confident that I'm not alone in this regard.
      To sum it up, I guess this is all just food for thought. Would love to discuss this over Canadian beers, but I highly doubt that will be a possibility - at least in the near future.
      Either way I'm greatly looking forward to Season 3!

      Hey Daniel, thanks for the awesome message and yeah this is Paddy (but i speak for the guys when I say that) We would totally set up a go fund me etc if we thought that most of the subscribers would be on board and happy to donate for a future series. But we think that most would see that as shitty thing to do and so we are trying to fund a future series in other ways (i.e. the tshirts, working with brands or people we like for promotion on this platform) we really dont want to ruin a good thing (even though awesome people like you would be happy to fund us etc. All I can say is thanks for the concern, and for sure if you come to CM let's get a beer, in the meantime.....BUY A TEE SHIRT!!! haha :)

    So I'm currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Engineering. I want to travel more than it seems my life will allow. 2018 fall, im taking a semester off to go to Spanish school in Antigua Guatemala then returning in 2018 summer to another Central American location to finish Spanish school. Past this plan, I want to backpack or budgeteer central and southeast Asian but don't know the time in my life to do it. I'm afraid traveling will hurt me career. (I'm way more passionate about traveling than I am my degree). Any advice on when to travel in life or my situation. Much love.

    I watched all Central America episodes, and in fact I'm flying to Cuba this week for 10 days then I'll fly to Mexico to cross it until Panama just like you guys , just I want to ask what Sim Card should I take for an internet ? "for Google Maps & Couchsurfing", also since I'm a solo traveler and don't have a Spanish language, do I expect a lot of trouble? 😌
    thanks guys..

    Hi again, Paddy which school do you work for in chiang mai? Is it an international school or? Are you a qualified teacher or just have toefl? I am a canadian teacher and have been teaching in europe for the last few years but have always considered moving to Thailand to teach as I love it there. I just wondered what opportunities are out there from your experience :) Thanks!

    Guys, what are you doing in order to keep your money safe during long travels (especially if you are traveling alone). Do you always keep your card and cash on you, or do you leave it at your hostel? It would suck to lose access to your money. Maybe you could address this in your next Q&A

    • @TheBudgeteers
      @TheBudgeteers  7 лет назад +1

      i keep everything on me, taking a few hundred $$$ worth of cash out per week

    • @vladcristea5984
      @vladcristea5984 7 лет назад

      And do you have a back-up plan in case, God forbid, you lose your stuff? Also, you can't always have everything on you...for example if you are at the seaside and you wanna go in for a swim... stuff like that.. how do you handle those situations?

    • @TheBudgeteers
      @TheBudgeteers  7 лет назад +1

      1. dont lose your shit. 2. just be smart

    • @vladcristea5984
      @vladcristea5984 7 лет назад +1

      :))) yeah, it makes sense... but this is a big challenge when you travel alone - You are on a beach, you have all the stuff on you... and you wanna go in for a swim... you can't really ask someone to watch your stuff (personally, I never do that - I've been asked to do so but I wouldn't do it...I have trust issues lol ) so I was wondering how you guys are handling that since you've said you guys used to travel alone a lot, I bet you had to deal with situations like this a lot

    • @TheBudgeteers
      @TheBudgeteers  7 лет назад

      why do you need anything other than a towel, a book and a bottle of suncream at the beach? leave your valuables in a locker at your hostel or safe in your room and then tackle the day. if you wanna take your phone or whatever to the beach then just hide under your towel or whatever. Its not rocket science :)
