Do you want a mechanical breakdown of the corruptor or would that be too much? Eh, I'll do it anyways, for this six month old footage. If people don't know how to fight it (and I know some people _still_ don't) then they can enjoy this buried textwall comment. _I think I did this on the last video too but less in-depth._
So the corruptor technically has nine health thresholds, split into a trio of layers. The outer segment is the top set of armor bars, and will drop minerals and plagueworms when destroyed, the inner segment is the lower set of armor bars and protected by the outer segment, and will drop more worms when destroyed, and the inner segment is the main health bar, which is not directly separated the way the others are but does contain three weakpoints each of which deal something like 2/5s of the corruptor's health to fully destroy (I think they deal precisely 1/3, but you have to shoot them to destroy them and shooting them damages it so it works out like that). Shooting the armor does nothing, even when one section is open, shooting the inner section can work but does next to nothing - however, overclocks and weapons that ignore armor, such as embedded detonators, the breach cutter, or large explosives, will still deal significant damage to this. The three weakpoints do count as weakpoints, and builds for weakpoint damage work accordingly on them. To destroy the armor, you have to foam and vacuum its blisters, which the game never tells you and is nearly impossible to see happening. The foam can be vacuumed the moment it impacts, and in that case will not count as having adhered at all, so if you've got the vacuum, don't use it until the foam has been on for even just a fraction of a second.
That's the more complicated part. The corruptor only has three (two) attacks: a slam that it activates whenever someone nears it, a passive action of it launching little balls of infection into the air that generate corruption when they land, and its line attack. The slam is pretty simple - it stops moving, rises up slightly and sort of pushing its armor sections outwards, and screams (the sound file for which uses a church bell, among its other parts), particles raising in a circular pattern around it, and then damages anything within the radius, which I think is a cylinder and can hit you in the air. This attack has a pretty short cooldown and immediately triggers the moment someone gets into its relatively short range.
The line attack is the special one - when any three health sections are destroyed, it will anchor into the ground with three large tendrils from its middle, begin rhythmically screaming for some reason, and shoot lines of spikes across the floor at nearby dwarves. It fires these in bursts of three and shoots three or four bursts per anchor, and they deal _significant_ damage, so stay at medium range and strafe to avoid getting hit, as it doesn't lead the shot in the slightest. This can happen for any sections you destroy - whether you peel off all its outer armor layer, or focus one side and tear right through to its core, destroying three of its armor or weakpoints will cause this. After anchoring, it'll run away from the dwarf it's targeting, which it also does when the fight is first triggered by it being hit by foam - it is passive, save for the corruption patches, before being foamed, and can be safely ignored without consequence provided it isn't corrupting a mission-critical area, despite what Mission Control has to say about it.
Notably, while the corruptor always targets its enemies - namely, you and your team - like any other entity, it does not move in accordance to this. It will wander randomly both before you encounter it and during the fight, and can scale any surface that isn't a cave ceiling, which it may to do mid-fight and thus escape momentarily. The targetting only really comes into play when it is using its line attack, or when it's doing its brief running-away phase. I believe it has the same exception applied to all dreadnoughts and detonators, wherein it will _only_ target living players, and will ignore all other targets, including downed players, broken pipeline connectors, LURE grenades, pheromoned enemies, and whatever else. I'm unsure if using fear on the corruptor does anything, but I believe stunning it does work, though it is very slow by default and can only be damaged to proc some sources during the second third of the fight at the earliest anyways.
The corruption it drops around it is pretty simple. It's a more aggressive and spikier version of the contagion spike material, infecting you on contact at a faster rate and throwing up spikes when stood on. It only forms on the floor, and the projectiles will just clip through stuff in the way if it hits a wall or ceiling first. The corruption patches die on their own after a while, but this takes several minutes, and they have a low chance to spawn those little pods that periodically release worms to burrow through the map and harass you - this can indicate a corruptor's presence long before you ever see the corruption patches, as it's the only way to encounter the larvae on a mission without the outbreak modifier. It also turns the ground to inert rockpox after some time, but that's more or less a visual effect unless you're trying to mine the corruption, which I haven't ever done but I assume - alongside stabbing you the whole time - it infects you severely the same way mining any other rockpox does. You can foam the corruption like you can the blisters on contagion spikes to instantly destroy it, which is generally a good idea as it's the corruptor's main source of damage. It also all dies the moment the corruptor does. This stuff is not much issue in a wide-open area, more of an annoyance unless you are already working with low shields and a sliver of health (or, obviously, in shield disruption missions), but in enclosed spaces or on narrow ledges it can be devastating. The rest of the corruptor's attacks and its random movement further increase its lethality in tight areas, so take considerable caution. On higher hazard levels it can be preferrable to dig around it if it is sticking to a section of a tunnel or similar room.
My condolences to the few remaining extended family of the detonators of this mission, by the way. I think you crashed a reunion. If I were to criticize the mission, given your role on the team you would've benfitted using Aggressive Venting (if you have the overclock, the grind is real with those) on your drak, which lets you run 'till overheat and then get free group-clearing damage to finish them all off, alongside the blast having a fear effect to ward off larger enemies who survive it. Quite useful for revives and it quickens the overheat cooldown atop all that. Also, on refining missions - particularly ridiculous caves like this one - getting a pipeline framework down early can be a lifesaver, allowing for quick travel you don't have to think about both to the deposit point and away from the random pit the refinery always lands in.
In other news, the 'yabadabado flow' section was indeed truly abhorrent. The upside-down hole incident could've really been solved by him just telling you that the entrance was likely by the refinery. All in all, about as painful as your average mission with a rate comparable to 49 downs in 42 minutes.
You, Sir, are a legend for this.
this comment is why you're #1
You know it’s a good day when nameistaylor releases the extended director’s cut

Meanwhile, Scout:
25:50 Don't act like all y'all don't live in the loony bin 24/7, it ain't just gab who took a big sip of the silly juice
fair play...
the movie releases of this and last year have nothing on this cinematic masterpiece.
32:14 I find this moment funnier in the VOD over the edited version, the silence, and Gab scoffing and saying "lawl". I mean just this mission alone there's been four separate occasions where everyone is down except for you.
his name is Taylor👌
it's true

Let's go!! More of the gang!!

I just wish rocks and stones were real. 😔
one day...
Boy do I have something to tell you
Most people wont watch the full ones but some of us do and we thank you for all the great content :D
of course! hope you enjoy
22:41 That was clutch. Also BS. But I live for that tech.
That’s what scout mains wish they could be. It’s too bad that 99.999999% of the time they end up red-shaded and lying on the floor.
Yes. I am salty from the fact that I’ve interacted with too many scout mains. Where’s the representation, guys?
roller coaster of a comment but i agree with all of it so here i am
Oh boy, a whole 43 minutes of death and terror! Just what I needed to help me sleep tonight!
YES, an unedited vid! Rock and Stone!
it’d be awesome if there was some sort of patreon that contained these kind of unedited vods and other cool stuff.
i've considered this!
I feel so spoiled, a good way to end off a work day. Watching Klevin and the gang.
16:47 I think that in this mission, all the time you spend throwing gunk seeds around, you should have been gathering more nitra and helping the team to the best of your ability, like guiding your silly drillers, where to dig.
I hate gunk seeds and especially on liquid refinement and point extraction, i avoid the task all together. if you wanted more credits, it would have been more efficient to collect the gold, in this situation.
yayyyyy i was waiting for this!
It's kinda movie bro, good job! Rock N Stone Foreva!
rock and stone!
this was awsom. post more VODs NEOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
43 minutes of nameistaylor? hell yeah
They only have real issues on this map first the mactera and now this
22:24 Was Anna in the call, or does she live with one of you?
By the way, one thing that you should think about doing, is modding your lobby to have over four people, it would be funny to have all of your friend's personalities active at the same time.
she's just in call
dinner gon be good tonight 🗣️🙏
Duuud this video cursed me for my next mission after looking off the video I played a escort mission on difficulty 4 with the cave leach swarm modifier and golden bugs modifier I kid you not 5 bulk dets more then 20 cave lea leaches a corrupter 5 menaces hords so big you would think it was swarmagedon two engines went down on Loretta and so meany of the bigger guys it was the most terrifying mission of my life
