    Inside cabin $99K with $2500 fees per month ($30K annually) sounds like a bad timeshare that will be hard to get rid of. In addition visas, incidentals, off ship expenditures can add a lot more to actual cost. I assume more expensive cabins add to fees per month. I bet a lot of people will regret this choice.

      Folk get drunk on the idea and then disregard the downsides ( which can be huge and very expensive )...............Plus that Villa Vie boat is pretty standard, not luxurious at all. In fact it's like a regular cross channel ferry. I have watched a few vids on this boat and the $99K cabins are sooooooo claustrophobic. Still, folks make choices. This vid is like a cringe inducing QVC production where they make out you will just die if you don't buy.

    About two years ago we were really thinking about a world cruise. We booked a 29-day trip on Viking to see if we liked a month at sea. After about 26 days we were ready to come home. So, for us, we think trips up to a month is perfect for us. So good luck and enjoy.

    • @jamesvokral4934
      @jamesvokral4934 7 месяцев назад

      We thought about this too and agree after 21-30 days at sea we would be ready to get off any ship. Viking was our choice as well.

    We’ve joked around with this idea for years but it makes total sense. Rather than going into a retirement home just jump onto a cruise ship because of the all inclusive pluses. Food, entertainment, your accommodations and medical doctor on board.

      The medical care won’t be the same as on land and there’s no dentist on board, so it would be difficult and probably very expensive to get full medical care on board.

    😳😳😳 I only book balcony cabins. 😳😳😳A balcony is whopping $299,999 💰 and the monthly maintenance fee is $6,999 for Solo travelers! That’s a large investment when I don’t know whether they’re going to be around five years from now?

  • @joannekearney5329
    @joannekearney5329 7 месяцев назад +4

    Is this an inside cabin... looks like balcony cabins are $300k.. monthly fees for balcony are $4000/month per person.( $1750/mo/pp for inside).. terms look like they are for the life of the ship.. so value will depreciate..over time .. I would expect... interesting idea though.. they say fees will not change.. not sure how that is even possible given fuel costs and inflation

    • @danasandoval624
      @danasandoval624 8 месяцев назад

      Yes you are correct & then you have to get reimbursed from the insurance company. So that can cause very big problems because even in other countries getting sick or injured can be very costly.

    Good luck, boys! The website offers very little information to the casual browser. It does say “Departing from Southampton on May 15th, 2024” I’ve found that for a single cruiser buying a balcony, one can expect at least a $2000.00 USD commitment per week for 15 years. This ship is the former Fred Olsen Braemar, and frankly doesn’t offer much for that very rough beginning investment. 2 or 3 months before welcoming the first residents (see above), there doesn’t seem to be any pictures or video tours of the actual amenities. I’ll be watching to see how you fare, and wishing you well!

  • @danasandoval624
    @danasandoval624 8 месяцев назад +11

    Sounds good until you go to the site & start actually looking at costs. Inside cabins start at 99,999. Sound good right? We additionally there is a monthly per person $1750 for dbl occupancy, $2499 for single occupancy, per month. The cabin prices of course increase with windows & balconies etc so does that monthly fee.
    They offer things like other cruise lines but since this is a new group we have nothing to look at to see how good or bad they will be. They have a buy back option that is based on how long you have owned it, 1st year starts at 60% somebody is getting a good deal & I don’t think it is the cruiser.
    I wish you guys a great & happy experience, hopefully it’s as wonderful as you want!
    🐾🐾❤️❤️😺😺🐾

    • @CydeWeys
      @CydeWeys 8 месяцев назад +3

      The part that doesn't make sense to me is why the monthly expenses for the nicer rooms cost SO MUCH more than for the inside room. A lot of what you're paying is for food and crew, so why do the costs scale so much with a slightly larger room when those are unaffected?

    • @danasandoval624
      @danasandoval624 8 месяцев назад +1

      @danasandoval624 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@CydeWeys Problem is anytime something is advertised as starts at you can bet you are not going to get that price there is always a reason it is more. I would also be concerned about possible costs in each place you wanted to get off & see.

    they start at 99k to purchase an inside cabin BUT and I made that capital because its a very BIG BUT... BUT the monthly fees (like HOA fees) are about $4,000.00 a month. A MONTH! yikes! Does that include a drink package or even food? Laundry? Housekeeping? Is it just maintenance fees? I'm curious to know if the food is comparable to other cruise lines, we're all sitting in the edge of our seats until this summer when the ship is supposed to sail. We'll see!

The tonnage is similar to the Braemar. Is it the " Braemar",? She was greatly loved by Fred Olsen clients but was well known for not being good in very hard storms as she has a flat bottom.

    You two are so lucky be able to do this. I am too old to do it now, but throughout the years I have cruised many times and most times alone and just love cruising, but next month I will be 79 years old and truthfully could never afford to do it. I still cruise and am going to Bermuda for my many trips there (somewhere around 34) times. I swore my last time there was the last, but I am hoping to stay well so I can go one more time. You two are the greatest and I would love to have bumped into you on a cruise to anywhere. I have cruised there several times and fell in love the first time on that island with the beauty and the kind people. My last 4 times there, I got an apartment and just stayed that way so I could spend more time.

    Love it! Back in 2004 there was a larger ship offering cabins starting at $225k with a yearly fee of $10k to cover all food and housekeeping. I don't recall if drinks were included but back them satellite wifi was limited and very expensive. The cabins seemed larger amd from what I recall, there were no interior cabins, only Oceanview and Balcony. Whenever the ship needed to be dry docked, the ship would house the residents in a nice hotel for however long ot would take. Also, the residents would decide on most of the itinerary, and how many days ot would remain on port. Heavy emphasis would be on Europe, Asia, and South America. No me.tion of Amtartica due to preservation efforts at that time. Global.warmimg was already an issue. In this residence ship's case, the owner would have an options to lease out their cabin, and the line would be able to facilitate that. It was a great concept then and now.

    I would love to do this. Unfortunately I love my dog too much to leave her behind. So I will have to continue the 7-10 day cruises!

    I like it. So we just have to be concerned about the people looking after the escrow monies?

    I'm really curious how many people are going to buy in. I'm looking at their site and a balcony room is $299,999 and for double occupancy you are paying about $8,000 a month. You can pretty much get a balcony on a ship for that price per month without forking over $300k as well. The balcony room does look gorgeous and a bit more upscale than a traditional balcony room on most ships. Is the $300k basically the convenience of not having to deal with back to back to back bookings for 15 years?

    Wow!! How exciting!! I've always wanted to live on a cruise ship for a few months at a time, travelling the world! Thanks for all the information you provided and looking forward to hearing about your wonderful experiences as you go along!

    Just wondering what everyone is doing while waiting to board. It is about 30 days late. Are they staying at hotels at their own expense?

    I have been following Villa Vie for some time now. Right now, we are caring for my mom but in the future, I'd love to do this. It's really quite affordable.

    Watching “Midlife Cruising” very interesting to see this- which cabin do you own? The Oceanview cabins are so small, being it’s an old ship. The common areas are beautiful!
    What happens after the end? Do you rent it out?

      They never bought a cabin, they were just going for the summer. Probably a comped or incentivized trip as originally Villa Vie invited a number of cruise influencers and media on the initial launch when they were supposed to sail May 15. Those other people all got cancelled when they didn't sail. The end is either the ship not being able to continue to cruise due to its age and history or it becoming too expensive for the company to maintain or them going bankrupt due to all the expenses associated with the 104 day delay and the impact that has had on sales and the postponing of income until the delayed launch.

    I get that they provide "Inclusive" experience but you still essentially need to be very well off... for a coupe in a balcony room it's like 95 grand a year in monthly fees...
