I was given a date rape drug in Oregon 2007 & I nearly died, after horrific sexual abuse. Two men in a blues band, cousins with the same name, did this to me. But police did nothing but try to prosecute me & sweep the whole incident out of sight. President Clinton signed laws that send people to jail for possessing date rape drugs and/or using them to assault someone. But those laws are useless when police don't enforce them. I was jailed when I was near death & vomiting blood non-stop, waited 18 months for my day in court, offered many "deals" from the state, rejected them all. Women's centers across the country can confirm how often the victim is blamed (as they told me). I had a five day trial with thirty witnesses to prove my innocence. The men who drugged me, raped me and left me to die were never charged with anything. They were witnesses at the trial & failed a lie detector test. God saw what they did. Their punishment is coming. How many other women have they drugged, raped & possibly killed before and after that January 2007 night they assaulted me? These crimes continue because police do not enforce the laws President Clinton signed and punish criminals who possess and use date rape drugs. When I saw how Riley was stumbling I immediately thought something was put in his drink (a roofie, mickey, date rape drug).

But more enraging is the misogynistic culture that we live in which blames the victim.
The Bible says, many many good things. We are all sinners and need to change.
Please know one thing it says, is that everyone will forsake you, only one won’t, and his name is Jesus Christ.
Similarly , it also says, my help is not from the arm of man, but from every word out of the mouth of God.

@@hugg724 Fraternity conference = drinking conference.
What we can deduce from this latest is that mom knew her son was drinking that weekend, which the toxicology report will show -- in addition to his intoxication level.
When I was in a sorority, we generally stuck together and looked after one another. I get the impression the guys in frats don't necessarily do the same.
But seriously, if his own mother wasn't concerned enough to have her son text her to let her know he got back to his hotel room safely, what were his friends supposed to do, particularly when they were probably drinking heavily too?
Mom must be kicking herself that she got his text about his beverage and wasn't able to prevent whatever happened to her son.

I said before and I say it again , his drink must’ve been drugged. The way he was trying to hurry to get out of danger was what I seen in camera. Like he knew something was wrong and he felt he could make it, before getting worse. I’ve been drugged 2 times by the grace of God I had Angels just happened to be in the right place and the right time to save me. Many of the experts in true crime will tell you that parents would rather think that something involving foul play caused their son's or daughter's death, rather than the naivety of being young and doing stuff that young people sometimes do that could easily go wrong. Let's say he w-a-s roofied, the reality is that he was also very, very, very drunk, having been to several bars before the last one he was kicked out of, and maybe drank in the hotel room...all with the other college students. Nothing really that unusual for young men and women in college. He was drunk enough to do something that would get him kicked out of the last bar he was in. Although we all wish at least one of the other kids went out with him, they had pay their bar tab 1st and then by that time, they said Riley had left the area. They did text him and he replied basically that he was fine and just going to go back to the hotel, which was a close 12 minute walk (as I understand). We all saw, thru camera footage, him staggering along the sidewalk, falling down sometimes, toward the water instead of taking the other direction to his TEMPO by Hilton hotel. He had plenty of opportunity to ask one of the many people walking the streets for help or directions, but he didn't...maybe he thought he was too drunk and the hotel was easy enough to find. He was looking at his phone a lot as he walked...some people think that he had mistaken, on Google Maps, the software development company "YourTempo" instead of the hotel because the last camera footage of him by the water is merely 2 blocks away from that "YourTempo" business, and was w-a-y far away from the TEMPO by Hilton. Some believe, by that time, he needed to go pee pretty badly (not unusual) and decided to pee at the water's edge, thus unfortunately, bending over (with his credit card in possibly his front pocket falling on the ground) and unbuckling his belt and pants (thus making it easy for the current, later on, to take both off). Or he just fell over the railing, down the steep slope and into the water. Poor guy. So young but sadly, these things happen. He seemed like a wonderful young man who had a bright future in front of him, and also being an only child...it would be just devastating for his family to lose him as it would be to lose any child. My sympathies to his family & friends. God bless them. There just was no foul play, or nothing that anyone can prove if there was.

I partially blame his friends/fraternity brothers for letting anyone in their group leave that unstable and intoxicated. What terrible friends.

Strange that this is only now coming out.
    Oczam's Razor.
The simplest and most logical explanation is usually the most likely one.
College kid goes to a town built on alcohol consumption with his college buddies.
Drinks too much, stumbles down to the river's edge, passes out, homeless derelicts rob him while he's passed out and he wakes up and stumbles into the river.
    Everything else is speculation.
Parents don't ever want to believe their kids willingly over ingested intoxicants.
"Our child would never do drugs"
"Our child would never get drunk".
That mantra has been proven wrong time and again when tragedies occur.
My heart breaks for this family.
I sincerely hope they get all the answers.
