We are staying in the 76th Ave. area. Large piles of Sea Grass that blocked access is now mostly cleared. State is doing a great job. Taking a trip to look @ Shrimp boat today.
Ocean club hotel/apartments stayed there 2 years ago. Love that part of Ocean Blvd. The shop across the street is run by a nice fellow.. Glad to see Myrtle Beach is mostly intact.
My family & I were at Cherry Grove in North Myrtle Beach labor day. We go every year. We love Myrtle Beach. I prayed that it would be spared. Blessings from Ohio
I live in socastee but I work at 30th avenue Dunkin. We were open during most of the storm and we had to go home at peek at the storm and I was able to drive 20 minutes in the store and I was fine. I've had our regular customers show us where they're inground pool became the ocean and the storm surge was 4 ft up on the glass at the South end. Please pray that those businesses recover from this I've even heard stories of a regular customers mom who is a housekeeper who had to work in this and they had to be rescued out of the second floor during the storm. Again please pray. To me and other locals this is a storm not a hurricane
The facade on Ripley’s Believe it or Not was “ripped” like that from Hurricane Hugo back in 1989. Before that storm it was just a regular looking building. Thanks for the video.
Thank you so much for this video. I was wondering how Myrtle Beach fared from Hurricane Ian. You always come through. It’s such a relief to see the damage was so minimal.
ty for sharing i have a cousin and his wife that lives in Myrtle beach...i was born and raised in sc and spent most my summers in Myrtle Beach..but been in Calif since 07 always loved going to the Gay Dolphin Gift shop
Thanks for the video update. I close in 10 days on a condo close to Broadway at the Beach so glad to see things looking pretty good there. Love all of your videos!
In case anyone is wondering That ship was out fishing on Thursday night and got trapped during the strong waves and anchored and called out and abandoned it. During the Eye/Eyewall of the hurricane the ship got unanchored and got dragged by the waves onto the beach causing a lot of police units and fire units fly around Ocean Blvd. Insane how powerful the Cat 1 is and my first hurricane of experiencing my first hurricane here. (This story was provided by the Myrtle Beach Fire Department)
@@CarmenandBrian You're welcome. I just knew main news sources hadn't posted about it so I was sure people would wonder. Hope you both did fine during the hurricane!
We're staying at Oceans 22 and while the dunes are mostly gone, the surge never made it to the hotel. And we just came back from the Ripleys aquarium and there was no sign of damage.
I'm from Ohio but myrtle Beach is mine and my teenage daughters favorite place in the whole world.. thank you for doing this.. one day I'll make my way back down there to the beach
We biked through Surfside and overall it looked mostly OK. Definitely some flooding, but most houses are on stilts there. Just like Myrtle the dunes are gone and damage to some ocean front properties.
We'll be in Myrtle Beach Oct. 30th-Nov. 7th Thanks for showing us what was damaged and what wasn't. Hopefully it will be all cleaned up and repairs will be underway by the time we arrive.
I am hearing alot about Garden City and Cherry Grove that sustained damage. Is that apart of the North Beach Plantation area? Trip scheduled with family...??
You should definitely call the rental company to check on the status. Without an address I can't tell you if it's in Cherry Grove but even North Myrtle Beach was hit hard in areas.
Thanks for the update I was wondering as well how Myrtle beach was holding up. I went back in 2018 when that bad hurricane went through especially in Conway that flooded it out. And when that jeep was on the beach just glad things aren't to serious there and you guys are doing ok.
Thanks! It was a scary day yesterday but we're fine and I think overall Myrtle Beach fared pretty well. I think Garden City and Cherry Grove were the hardest hit in this area.
@@CarmenandBrian You're very welcome and yeah was watching the weather channel channel yesterday as they showed Garden city and Pawleys Island as well. They never showed Cherry Grove though. Oh my gosh! We are heading down again in two weeks for the second time this year and we will be staying at the compass cove. We have stayed at that resort for the last 16 years and love it. Hopefully, everything is back in order by then. ❤
I think it will take a while for them to repair the dunes, but otherwise I would think most things would be in decent shape in a couple of weeks in Myrtle Beach.
That has more to do with the time of day. A lot of people actually stayed in town and rode out the storm. Later in that same day there were plenty of people out and about.
Definitely underestimated how insane the parking fees are. Pro sports games have better parking fees than here. Definitely gonna start walking when possible.
If you mean the city fees to park near the boardwalk, if you're willing to walk a bit, you can park across Kings Highway near the large Methodist Church for free for 2-3 hours (check the signs).
Thanks for posting. The power of nature is really humbling. I was surprised to see that the dunes have disappeared. Feel sorry for the Cherry Grove peer. Did you drive by North Myrtle Beach? Do you know if they’ve been hit harder than MB?
