The male gaze underestimates the attractiveness of pretty boys especially in western countries where masculinity is demonized, but it doesn’t mean that if you want to attract women you need to wear a dress and makeup.
I personally think that the 80/20 rule applies here because the guys who will appeal to most women are the ones with 80% or masculinity and 20% of femininity.

all that dress and makeup stuff is BS. most women will not find ultra feminine guys attractive,(lot of makeup, wearing dresses, etc). People still love masculinity, it's just that we were lied to about that and that's what is changing (all that beard, huge muscles etc). Pretty boys are still very masculine. You can clearly differentiate between pretty boys and someone with feminine face. Most pretty boys have strong masculine features, which makes them automatically masculine. All the beard, body hair and huge muscles are not that important compared to other facial features for masculinity.

You want to be Masthetic i.e have a pretty face on a masculine skeleton. This means pretty boy facial features but with a strong lower third, strong brow ridge, strong cheekbones, and you want to be tall with a broad frame.

I agree that different cultures have different standards of beauty. In Asian cultures, very feminine-looking guys are the ideal. Just look at all the KPOP stars. In Middle Eastern cultures very hairy masculine guys are the ideal. The west is in between the two.
they are only feminine to other cultures. the only thing they do is clean shave, don't show their muscles that much, perfect skin(on stage)(these have nothing to do with masculinity, in fact is even preferred by a lot of women). Other than these majority of them have masculine features like sharp jawline, thick neck, decent muscles, thick eyebrows, hunter eyes, Also just look at the female side, they have huge difference. also being hairy has very little to do with masculinity, compared to other features.

It's also the way they dress and act. Imagine showing the way they dress/act/look to a 1970s American, and telling him that's masculine. You only perceive it as being masculine because you have grown up in a period with a lower standard of masculinity than previous generations.

it's because america is not center of the world and people are having a hard time realizing that. There is much more than just black and white. The standards of masculinity overall was unrealistic for a huge portion of men, and the entertainment industry used to push that narrative of that ultra hyper masculine being the standard, biggest reason being because women didn't had much involvement, it was mostly men. Now that women are involved they are expressing their views of masculinity, which is not always big muscles and beards and body hair.
Also there are many races where men have less body hair, even in west, it also depends on genes and other factors.
There were always men of different shape and sizes, chiseled and weak jaws, wide or slim. even in west not every man is 6foot+ build like arnold, which is actually the realistic standard for majority of men.
Masculinity standards are not lower, we were just knowing the truth, and realizing the ugly lies that media and toxic men used to push, to demean men, because of world now being diverse and women being involved.
Now about those kpop idols
- most of them are young - some are even teens
- they have body hair, its just less, and they just don't show it, even i am asian, and can't grow facial hair that much but have a lot of body hair.
- as I said most important aspects of looking masculine is around face, which a lot of them have very prominent strong features, which makes them automatically masculine.
- and do a little digging and you'll see how they dress and act and you'll realize why girls like them.
all these reasons make a lot of people mad and they make stupid excuses to cope with it like saying masculinity is in decline, or threat to masculinity, or masculinity is demonized. etc etc.
in the end women are attracted to beautiful men, in which facial features comes first, which can involve many factors to make one. and it's a lot more than just beards and body hair.
@@nehalpradhan2229 Body hair is masculine. I never said women find it attractive. Traits that are masculine are those traits that are sexually dimorphic. A larger frame would be masculine. Deeper voice, etc. Sexually dimorphic traits. The same is true in personality differences. Aggression, risk-taking, etc. I'm not saying any of these things are good or bad. It's just masculine vs feminine.

@@markhansen6236 you are absolutely right. but as I said most of those traits are exaggerated and was set to unrealistic standards for men through entertainment industry and it overlooked a huge portion of men.
and I only commented because of you comment about kpop being feminine, which is wrong. dig a little deeper and see they will tick a lot of boxes for being masculine. also compare them to their female side, there is a huge difference among them. Also you'll see the kpop boy thing goes all the way from very child looking ones to very chad ones. It varies a lot. Someone can be looking like a child and act like one, and the other day they'll be looking and acting completely opposite.
People come to conclusion only by seeing some pictures where they look like children, and dance moves which can look weird. if you went little deeper you'll see why girls like them just like they will like any other good looking man.
Good bone structure is key with indicators of youth like good skin which is not exclusive to pretty boys. Also good bones with long eyelashes and nice coloring for the eyes can also add pretty characteristics. In essence, the more features are on point the better tbh. Good bones is most important though since you can softmax eyebrows and lashes easily.

well it depends on mass appeal or niché appeal.
the pretty boy or the handsome man is the typical mass appeal for women, but there's that specific type of guy aswell that isn't conventionally super attractive but it appeals to different women.
everyone can enjoy the mass appeal to some degree but it's that specific type in terms of how they behave and look, not every woman likes the very flashy guy, but some women loves it.
it is as diverse as mens taste in women if not even more diverse.
it's easier to appeal to a wider amount of men with one type of look than it is to appeal to women with one type of look.
in a sense women are more picky but it's not exactly being picky towards the exact same men, for women it's more a mass appeal in behaviour over looks.
looks is not always what is interesting about a man, it's how they behave, and not in the sense of "being on their best behaviour" but more so a behaviour that appeals to them.
for example if you only flirt with women in one type of way you will only be succesful with one type of woman that is into your specific looks and that type of flirting.
you can flirt in so many different ways that would appeal to a wider array of women that is into your type of looks, it's just knowing who will respond well to what kind of flirting that becomes an issue.
this is why men reference being a fisherman, you don't use the same type of bait or the same type of technique when you are trying to catch different types of fish.
but to women this is despicable behaviour as it's not being genuine, it works however but it's being misleading to who you actually are and typically don't hold up in the long run.

I workout and try to stay in good shape. However My face is still round. On the other hand, My mother is fatter than me but has hollow cheeks. My face is asymmetrical and I have slightly crooked teeth. Receding chin. I don't know what tf to do. I think I should fix My teeth and eyebrows since they are easier to fix than bones. However, I think the only way for me to ascend is via surgery. My problems with that are:
A) it's too expensive
B) I could end up worse if I don't have a good base.
I don't know what tf to do seriously.
Before I started working out I was extremely over weight, I lost a lot of it, and my face was still baby ish, like how you describe. I thought I was already pretty lean, but decided to get leaner to see if it would work. I now have a sharp jaw with visible cheek bones. You might need to lean down some more. Most people including myself underestimate the amount of body fat they carry. Although I looked muscular I was around 17 percent body fat. My face changed a lot once I got to 14 percent personally. 🤷♂️

@@javiers4173 be careful tho I went down to like 10 percent and shit was not sustainable and my face looked , tired all the time. I’m now hovering around 14 and the fat on my face looks just right. Find an ideal sweat spot you can maintain, after seeing what your facial structure is like

@@javiers4173 it’s different for everyone. Abs is only partially accurate. Me personally I got weighed under water, it’s called hydrostatic weighing. They came to are sports med class at school. It’s one of the most accurate ways. But generally. From what I saw, 10 percent is where you have a completely visible 6 pack at all times. If you got barely visible abs you’re probably around 14-17 percent
