What about the blue speckled bowl at 5:32?
@@iStalkerMan I was wondering the same!! :) it's gorgeous!
What about the shelves? Were they custom?
What was used to install the shelves?
What about the shelves?? Thanks
Amazing! Should turn this into a series.
YES!!!
Yes! He's very clear on why he chooses certain things. I really like that they show what not to do, like with the carpet - a bigger carpet really does make a huge difference to the small. I also like how this looks feasible for most people, money wise.
+1
What are you talking about? This was absolute garbage
I agree! Although house tours are amazing, videos like these are more relatable to the everyday audience.
that dude knows what he's doing. would be nice to have this be a series
Agree!!
agreed, it was a great transformation and i liked hearing his thought process throughout the change
I would love for this to be a series!
Was about to see if it's a series. Hope it becomes one!
This isn’t already a series?? Aw man I was ready to click to the next one. Hope they do!
I love this! Way more interesting than seeing expensive luxury homes of celebs. Also love that they only bought few new things, but the vibe is so different. I think it would be really nice to see more of these quick transformations with just few new/trifted items - which is what normal people can afford to.
The fact that he's actually engaging and actually asking her questions and also detailing his intentions is the highlight of this vid. While decorating, he had her needs at the forefront of his mind before his own personal aesthetics.
This is what "communication is key" looks like, actually talking with the client, absorbing the things they say and applying them.
idk if it's because I'm still new to this series that im so psyched by these seemingly standard points but it's still really fun to watch
Loved this. Erick explains his thinking so well and I love that this felt like a project most of us could do in a weekend, you know if we had half of Ericks talent. I'd love to see this become a series as he made the space feel so much more welcoming.
I like that Erick talks us through his thought process. Showing him making a mistake with the first rug shows us it's also a trial and error thing. We sometimes feel like redesigning a room feels too much of an endeavor because we want it to be perfect on the first go but it's most often not the case!
He did an absolutely fantastic job. She made some great choices as well, like painting the bedroom wall the same blue as the couch. The two rooms “speak to each other” while still having their own identities.
Thank you AD for showing appreciation to those of us who live in smaller spaces! This would make a great series!
I love how we can see the thinking process behind the design. I would definitely binge watch this if it was a series
This designers personality and way of explaining things made this video. He’s good. I would hire him!! I love what he did.
What a pleasant surprise to see Eric decorating again. He’s such a fun, hands on, energetic designer. It’s cool how he explains every aspect of his decor as he’s working.
Again? Has he done other things that we can watch? I'd like to watch those!!
@@sosubmiss
Yes, He also does landscape decorating. Here on the AD channel he did a video a few weeks ago called “60K LA backyard transformation ...”
Great thanks!!
I love how he takes us through the entire process, explaining his approach and reasoning for each design choice. The space is beautiful.
beautiful job!!! the room totally has a different vibe now. looks MUCH more welcoming and cozy!
Exactly! Not so sterile now.
I love how the room turned out, BUT she had A LOT more books. Where did they go?!
Well, they agreed they were going to 'curate' in this space. My guess is those books went into another room!
I think the hero piece took a lot of them.
Couldn’t agree more. I’m so frustrated when designers make things look pretty but don’t factor in how people live.
@@swicheroo1 well, he did bring in a console with cabinets..
cabinet, chair, file cabinet.
I learned so much from this! Erick should have a whole series!! This was so educational and calming!!!
This 100% should be a series. An environment I might be in, with stuff I can afford, explained in a way that anyone can understand. It's all so accessible.
Beautiful transformation! The "after" is much cozier and feels like home.
Erick does a phenomenal job, would definitely like to see more of his work.
I hope this is the new series, because it's amazing. Small tips for people how to think differently about the stuff and space they already have, as well as the needs for the space. Absolutely amazing 👏❤️
This series is gold, and the designer was amazing and knowledgeable without coming over as a snob!
I really like this design.
I wish for once a designer would put books all in ONE PLACE with the spines out and in a useful organization! No rainbow organizing, whatever way the homeowner uses them. Scattering them all over makes it so hard to find your books!
I have to agree! That was my one qualm about it. Instead of adding the radiospeaker, cameras, vases - I wish he had kept the majority of the books on the actual floating shelves. That's what they're there for anyway. But everything else was beautiful.
I was wondering where all the books went
@@c450 Same here. Where did all the books go?
Agreed
He said the books could go in the console draws. Plus people don’t have as many books on display these days as you can access the majority on your online library and instead keeping just a few in the room.
He is really a different designer and explains everything so simply
Wow, it looks so much better! It looked like a hallway with a couch and desk and now looks like a nice and cozy living room.
i think Erick Garcia is such a beautiful human ...he brings so much skill in his observation and design style, i am hooked on learning more .... more please AD and EG
I love this room now, Erick Garcia is amazing. Love him. The favorite part for me would be the curtains.
This is a great idea for a series and he did a good job although it was annoying to see he didn't actually arrange the books that were there, she needed space for them to feel less crowded not to dissapear entirely. Ofc it looks good bc he didn't actually put everything back. As a book lover this just irks me 😂
He did incorporate a lot of books into the design, but usually you don’t want too much of one thing showing so I’m not thinking that he got rid of any, they might just now be stored different (ie in the console or in the file drawers)
i notice that in a lot of shows - : / if you love books, have a lot - please incorporate them into your design. It's the same vibe when you seen an entire house done but no tv in the living room, yet there was 1 'before'.
Yep, thought that too, any book lover wants all they're books out haha
@@sarahwenger4479 but that's the thing, if you love books, you want to see them on display, the more, the better. And it's harder to make that look good and symmetrical, but not impossible, and for a designer it shouldn't be that difficult. Unfortunately all the houses I see made by designers have just a few table books on display but those aren't all the real books you have and read. I was really looking forward to see what cool thing he'll do with those books but he didn't actually do anything with them
He has left quite a few books on display; on the console shelves, the wall shelves and the cabinet by the desk. If you want more on display, you could definitely add more to any or all of those displays. I love books but I wouldn’t personally want them all out on display (and I don’t have space for a bookshelf) - instead, I display certain books and the others are stored away out of sight. You have to make choices in small spaces!
Super impressive what a difference it made! Looking at it, I didn't think it would change that much just rearranging the room, but especially moving the desk it looks way better. Shows the expertise of the interior designer, and the curtains made such a difference too!
Eric is such a talent! Those curtains over those French doors are amazing! I've seen him do outdoor spaces too. He's such an intelligent worker.
We want more! Very informative. I love how he used things that she already had. Amazing how different the room looks. Those drapes are like the cherry on the cake. Please turn this into a series.
"We need more space for our books"
"Okay, we'll just get rid of them"
-__-
Other than that, I love this concept; I hope it's a series!
I was thinking the same thing. More books on that shelf would have been beautiful. All mixed in with the other items. I would have also played with the light a little by adding mirrors.
They moved a lot of books to the console under the TV
Yep. As a book lover myself, I was disappointed to see him just dodge that issue instead of handling it. There's no way the books he scattered around the "after" room add up to what was on the shelves in the "before" room. I call foul.
I cringed at the plant on top of the books omg. I love plants in my space, but no moisture directly ON my books please! Other than that the makeover was great.
He curated them - it’s different ok?
But ya i was totally thinking the same. Maybe instead of the plant he could have put a tall and narrow bookshelf. It wouldn’t look as “airy” but in such a tight space it probably would have been more useful
It’s fascinating how existing furniture re-arrangement can make a room more welcoming and appear larger! 🤯
More of these please 🙏🏼
I really liked Erick's energy through out the whole process and the end result is amazing. Great Job , I really enjoy all the content that AD brings.
This was an amazing turnaround. Erik also did a live on his insta about the experience, answering design questions today. Bravo.
I loved the transformation and how Erick made subtle changes with the furniture placement. He also explained every step and component to maximize the space in the room while achieving the main needs of the client. Beautiful!!! I'm excited to see more ...
Well done! I love that it’s not about buying new stuffs to make the room look better.
Looking forward to seeing more of this series!!
More of this please! He did a great job explaining so that we could learn too. Plus very budget friendly.
I loved this! Living in a small space I totally empathize with her. I thought that space was hopeless but the after was transformed, but also attainable. Really great!
This is awesome! The simplicity and the reusing of her old stuff is so commendable. He didn’t throw away things, requires self control when you’re an interior designer!
Looks much better. Liked how the drapes visually lengthened the wall. Now all Erick needs to do is put a cap on that Leica camera body and replace the rest of the books.
I would love to see this as a season !
I love it! It's also amazing how no matter how much space you have, you never have enough space. My very first apartment was a studio in Brooklyn. Now I'm in a two story, three bedroom three bath detached house with a large eat in kitchen, den, formal dining and living room, foyer, garage, front back and side yards and two huge walk in closets and I still feel like I don't have enough room for all my stuff. It's great to get ideas on how to store things away in classy chic way. I hope this becomes a series.
would love to see a series of this! Watching Eric is just pure joy and he explained everything so good
would love to follow this if it becomes a series!
He is a good designer and worked with pieces they had as well. Very unique artist.
I love that designer. He was so attuned to his clients needs and very respectful yet innovative.
I don't usually like RUclips videos, but when I do, it's saying something... THIS IS EVERYTHING!!!! I am so thrilled for Jess and her new living space! Enjoy it! and I applaud you, Erick. well done. well done.
This looks great. Definitely should be an ongoing series!! The designer did a amazing job.
Please please please make more of these videos. Love the interior design explanations. Love Erick Garcia’s thinking behind his choices. And 2.5 hours makes it feel attainable for anyone. Winner!
Amazing start to a series (hopefully!). Eric is an amazing story teller and designer. Love how he explains his reasoning so clearly and concisely. Not changing the style of the client, but making their own pieces and styles come alive!! 🥰
Great new series "Room Refresh"! Look forward to more episodes.
Great job Erick! Love how you explained your design decisions. You need your own show.
I love how he explains the whole design process- it’s like looking into his mind. After watching this I’m off to rearrange my awkward living room! Thanks guys for the inspiration!👍
Very cool! Would love to see more of these things where people explain and show how to create a nice space!
Erick did an amazing job! I love his approach to design and would love to see this as a series. So inspired to apply some of these tips to my own space.
This is a really lovely room refresh! My one thing would be having more books on the shelves but the owners can I guess naturally do that with the books they want more easily to hand
Can't wait for further episodes! Such great tips - especially the use of tall plants for the eye line & choice of rug size.
He did such an amazing job. Cosy but fuller than it was before. The plants and the lighting were genius. And adding the unit under the TV because before that the tv on the wall looked like a bad motel room in the middle of nowhereville. I would have gone with a nice comfortable beige couch, but I understand she loved that bold colour couch, and he made it work.
Eric Garcia inspired me to redesign my living space. I also loved his design for Julie Sariñana's LA backyard on AD!
Pls make this a series! Love Erick’s aesthetic.
So good and a great use of space! It's amazing how furniture placement and a few details like curtains and plants can make such a big difference - love it!
Hey AD, turn this into a series!!! I love it! And his energy, AMAZING
Love the bookshelf before/after. All you need to is get longer shelves and throw out all your books!
He did bring in that console. That would hold all her books. How many people do you know that would allow their books to be thrown out?
@@angelasepi657 bless u. Just my thoughts
Really love this video. He is so thoughtful and I’m walking away with tangible tips!
This is such a cool idea for a series! Full room makeovers can be really daunting if you don't have a lot of budget or time, and this is filled with great tips for anyone to spruce up a room without having to commit a lot of time and effort to it.
This is wonderfully done! I loved that he understood it still needed to be practical, but he also succeeded in making it beautiful! It seems so cozy and inviting now!!!
He did a phenomenal job of "uncluttering" the clutter and making everything homey and spacious. Props.
Amazing transformation!!’ So cozy
Please Erick, more videos like this onee! It's amazing how you brought life and calmness to the space so practically
Wow! This really give inspiration to not only buy new stuff but to think about how you place stuff.
Such a difference, and some good tips too. More please!
Love this and would love to see a series! Just wondering where the books went, since he turned the shelves into a place for knick-knacks?
This transformation is incredible. Congratulations, Erick. Moving the desk was the key! Really lovely.
the drapes are GENIUS. so simple!
I would have also loved the cost breakdown on this. The rug, plant, drapes and not just the drapes but there's the rod and the hooks, lamp, console! Mini white filing cabinet Etc. I assume when you hire a designer you're not just hiring their expertise per hour, but they suggest things and then it's an extra cost to go buy those furniture pieces
Love it!! Definitely agree he should have his own series!!
Nice job Erick what a difference! And what a nice surprise coming from Architectual Digest. I vote for this becoming a series. The time limit on the makeover makes it especially inspirational as something most people could accomplish.
Adding those drapes is such a brilliant idea!!!
yayyyy so excited to see more of this series!
This is what we want!!! Real rooms real helpful ideas
I would binge watch a series of this by Erick. Amazing work by Erick!
Erick is such a great designer and fun energy! You can tell he loves his work! Great job!!!!
Love the ideas and touches however storage was the issue and that was not completely addressed….where did all her books go? Bare shelves are pretty but she had tons of books that needed a place
I just commented the same thing!
@Winyl that’s a good solution.
The magic of interior design. Eric did an AMAZING job! I would definitely looove this becoming a series!
Currently in the process of buying a rug for my living room, those tips are extremely helpful! Love this type of video.
It was great to watch such an informative, interesting and realistic makeover since so many shows do a complete overhaul with totally new everything. It was nice to see the person’s actual belongings being incorporated into the process with any additions appearing to be reasonably doable budget wise for the average person. His explanations and rationale were interesting and helpful as well.
Please turn this into a series!
Wow that was an immense improvement!
Wow, such a great job, somehow the room even looks wider, just by moving the desk, and I think the rug helped. I love seeing small spaces transformed, it gives me hope that I can make my small home look good.
Good job Erick Garcia. I loved seeing what you did. Please more realistic videos like these!
What a great job he's done!!
Love this idea for a series. Where are her books?
Erick did an amazing job! I love how he explains the choices he's making
Eric seems so nice and humble and he really did an amazing job with this space - love it!
Where did the rest of the books go?
Hey Eric u are my man buddy done a fantastic job from.messy room to spacious room
Great video. The quick design update is very pleasing to the eye and practical. For such a small space the update really packed in a lot. It’s so interesting to see a room redesigned with minimal additions.
Great tips, and the result is beautiful! Looking forward to seeing more episodes with Erick Garcia!
Wow I learned new tips from this video. Living in NYC my whole 22 years of life it can be a challenge making a small apartment feel like a home but I guess that’s what makes the process of finding decor so interesting
