@16:37 Late 90’s I spent about 36 hrs total travelling time flying from Australia to Europe overnighting in Tokyo. The band Asia was on the flight. We drank and smoked cigs at the back of the plane the whole time and they offered me a job. I didn’t hang out with them during the overnight stay in Tokyo and the next day resumed flying and said, “I spent all night in the hotel…what’d you guys do ?” “Went to the Korg factory and got brand new free keyboards”. I’m a piano/keys player and was like, “oh……….damn”. In some crazy moment of coincidence, I also got a job from a japanese tv show producer the same way except he demanded I drink sake with him. The back of the plane was a party. Crazy to think you could smoke on planes and trains at one point.
A classic! Kat Dennings also played a stellar performance alongside Woody Harrelson in "Defendor", another really great movie you should watch. Defendor also has a serious tone to it, its not as goofy as the trailers may lead you to believe.
The movie that made carrell a star, & thus when this movie became a huge hit in between seasons 1 and 2 of the office gave the office a fighting chance to stay in air…..Steve Carrell,….so the opposite of Micheal Scott in real life….every set he’s on he’s a model of professionalism & mentorship & encouragement to the younger actors who haven’t been around as long….it took him forever to be “a star” so he’s super humble, and is one of those ppl , like Albert Einstein, who treated the/talked to trash collector and the president the same way, just as a human & treats ppl with respect ; the stories Jenna Fischer and Angela Martin tell on the office ladies’ podcast about Steve are really beautiful….he’s a good dude and an amazing character actor because he has a wealth of life experience to draw from.
I think that as the movie wraps up, it emphasizes a point made by a certain scholar. "Men are afraid women will laugh at them. Women are afraid men will kill them." Some interpret that differently. Curious of how others perci3ve that.
