    I was so happy to go to Muireanns concert a few weeks ago and hear her excellent versions of all those old songs that I've known too.
    Was lovely to have a chat with her and her dad afterwards.
    Thank you both
    💛💚🎼

    I continue to be impressed with new up and comers. This young lady certainly is refreshing to hear. Luckily for us, her Father was into Southern U.S. Negro music and his daughter picked up on it too. Obviously this Dylan song isn’t one of them but, her picking and singing are definitely top notch. I certainly wish her much success in her career choice.

    Well done. She's recreated his exact picking style and she's the first player I've seen who picked up on the 1st string hammer on E to F which for me is a signature tidbit of the song.

    • @haroldsteinblatt2567
      @haroldsteinblatt2567 4 месяца назад

      Wait, wait, await a minute - I picked up on that almost 50 years ago - and so did many of my Dylan-playing friends. Now that I finished bragging, I can say that it’s uncharacteristic of Dylan’s picking, is much more difficult to play than anything in his other fingerstyle accompaniments - I mean getting that hammer-on down rhythmically. The touch is different from the accompaniments to Girl From the North Country, Boots of Spanish Leather, Tomorrow is.a Long Time. So I think someone else is playing guitar, not Bob.
      By the way, the fact that you pointed out that interesting hammer-on thrilled me, because it brought back to the days when I was trying to figure out Dylan’s accompaniments. It’s how I learned to fingerpick, which ultimately led me to the country blues (the gifted Muireen’s true home).

      @@haroldsteinblatt2567 Glad you understood the importance of that little sucker. The syncopation is so oddly different that I think it has to be him playing. He probably learned it the day before but got it wrong.

    Sounds like the Dylan record has been sped up. Amazing plucking !

    • @sigmundjester
      @sigmundjester 5 месяцев назад +3

      Sped up, but only very slightly - the original is a fast song (112bpm I think). I think this version sounds a lot faster because Muireann has embellished the picking a bit, and also does does an alternating baseline on the “when your rooster crows at the break of dawn” bit - Dylan doesn’t.
      I play it more like Muireann - but not to that speed (I’m not good enough).

    • @guitashamilele
      @guitashamilele 5 месяцев назад +1

      I think a lot of people Dylan didn't even play it as fast as the record -- it was sped up by the producer, hence the higher capo if you try to match the original key

      @bigjim2313 Ha. Apparently, the story goes Dylan, tracked Brady down for him to teach him the arrangement. Bob was lovely but quickly worked out he couldn't really play guitar after watching Paul Brady generally be a genius for an hour!

  • @bobfry5267

  • @vmasing1965
    @vmasing1965 5 месяцев назад +1

    She lost it for a moment in the last few accords there. Which is quite undertsandable - it was the very last song in a long concert and she was prolly already very tired.
